I'm calling a brief Q&A and release manager vote tomorrow at 13:00 ET |

gmcharlt |
kmlussier's proposal can be found here: http://libmail.georgialibraries.org/pipermail/open-ils-dev/2016-October/010246.html |
09:13 |

needless to say, I anticipate that the vote itself will be a quick operation, but if anybody who will not be at the hack-a-way person has questions, we can field them via #evergreen |

I'm also happy to set up a Google Hangout if anybody wants |

Thanks bshum. We (hyper.sh) just released a buildbot plugin that gives per second billing and typically reduces build costs significantly: https://blog.hyper.sh/serverless-ci-hyper-docker-integration-for-buildbot.html |

Mark__: I'm one of the people who helped set up our buildbot instance, back in the days when VMs ruled. I think it would make more sense (and be much more feasible) for us to use docker containers these days, with every different OS build slave on a single server |

10:23 |
Mark__ |
Hey dbs. Hyper actually works natively with Docker, so you create your build images for different targets and then just run them all through buildbot. That's what buildbot themselves just started doing actually and I think they are building against a number of targets. |
10:24 |
kmlussier |
dbs: Not much happening on the Hangout now anyway. |
10:24 |
Mark__ |
The whole idea is that you only pay when you're building, you can make things parallelized (no upper limit) and you don't need to maintain/patch VMs anymore. |
10:26 |
Mark__ |

Sorry, my attention is torn between a few different things right now... |
10:31 |

10:32 |
dbs |
So maybe if someone else wants to pick up that torch...! |
10:32 |

I think the sound for the hangout is dead. Oh well. |
10:32 |

10:33 |

You could indeed just deploy containers on the same VM, and if you're not paying that much for the VM right now then the price difference is probably not worth the work. |
10:33 |
dbs |
We can keep communicating via IRC and the google doc |
10:33 |
Mark__ |
Buildbot found it useful because they could speed up the builds and get rid of having to manage a VM cluster. |
10:34 |

yes, we weren't talking about getting rid of autosuggest. But autosuggest needs to be reworked anyway to address the accessibility issues. If we go with jquery, then the goal should be to move it to jquery when it is redone. |
