09:17 bshum So, with https://bugs.launchpad.net/opensrf/+bug/1612771, gmcharlt removed the max_stanza_size change for ejabberd, but without changing it upwards, I'm getting jabber errors like "XML stanza size too big"  and things like doing the srfsh login is slow to respond.  Searches, haha.
09:17 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1612771 in OpenSRF "Chunking and bundling" [Wishlist,Fix committed]
09:18 tsbere I will admit to having been surprised at that change
09:18 bshum Not sure if anyone else has tested OpenSRF master since those things got added
09:18 bshum But just tossing out a little feedback
09:18 bshum Now that I finally have a functional VM built.
09:18 tsbere bshum: Was there a corresponding EG change you need as well?
09:19 bshum tsbere: That's something I'm wondering too, I didn't see one yet
09:20 JBoyer joined #evergreen
09:20 tsbere bshum: For that matter, I wouldn't be surprised if the max stanza size default differs, over time or otherwise. What is your VM's set to?

09:22 bshum tsbere: I left it at the original value which was 65536

09:53 bshum phasefx: I can help with that, possibly
09:53 phasefx bshum: thanks!

09:57 bshum It's sluggish today :(
10:10 bshum tsbere: So it does eventually respond with success for the srfsh login.  But TPAC searches almost always time out :(
10:10 bshum I guess things get too congested
10:10 gmcharlt bshum: yep, I'll look into it
10:10 bshum And it times out waiting for the chunked messages to come across
10:11 bshum gmcharlt: Happy to help test things out.  I'm going to bump things up for now and go back to playing with i18n areas
10:13 kmlussier phasefx++ # Looking into live tester rss feed
10:14 phasefx going to try switching from RSS to Atom, mimic what Launchpad does

14:27 jeff the Chrome setting that berick mentioned just now: chrome://flags/#allow-insecure-localhost
14:30 * jeff muses on a bloom filter for offline blocked patron lists
14:38 jeff a bit more on Chrome's recent changes with regard to "persistent" vs "best effort" local storage (experimental, behind permissions, etc): https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2016/06/persistent-storage
14:39 jeff also confirms that Chrome will auto-clear "best effort" local storage at times, and that "can the user clear cache and also end up deleting local storage" remains a question whose answer is in development.
14:52 gmcharlt berickm: https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/nativeMessaging and https://wiki.mozilla.org/WebExtensions/Native_Messaging
14:59 jeff gmcharlt: have you investigated on if you can build an extension (say, for chrome) which does not require the "read/modify your data on all sites" permission?
15:00 jeff "investigated on"? hrm. :P
15:00 gmcharlt jeff: no
15:01 berickm gmcharlt++
15:09 jeff fwiw, native messaging is one of the "you should be doing it this way instead" examples cited by Chromium/Google devs in the issue we started looking at a while ago: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=378566
15:09 jeff the "this will kill how we use hatch" bug of "Block sub-resource loads from the web to private networks and localhost"
15:11 jeff by which i'm trying to say "probably well worth looking into more"
15:11 csharp @decide C# or csharp
15:11 pinesol_green csharp: go with C#
15:16 berickm @decide csharp or The B Sharps
15:16 pinesol_green berickm: go with csharp
15:16 jeff the last time i looked at this, my primary concern was determining if the allowed_origins non-wildcard limitation will require a dedicated plugin per evergreen install.
15:18 jeff oh, right. that particular restriction is limiting to a given extension, not a host.
15:18 kmlussier joined #evergreen
15:19 jeff that's part of the manifest that the hatch installer would put in place.
15:19 jeff and it would permit a given extension id or ids.
15:25 gmcharlt bshum: OK, I've got a working patch, just now need to clean it up a bit
15:30 bshum gmcharlt: Okie dokie

16:49 Dyrcona Hmm. Ran it again and it just worked...
