Whee! Now to dump a test file with all of CW MARS' records with items..... I'll bet this is pretty big. |

Did anyone else get an email from Ingram today, saying that April 2024, they'll be SFTP only for EDI? |

I see a sharpsie: comment on 9-14, "I'm working right now on a branch to reimplement the SFTP parts of that process since it doesn't seem to actually work" |

hm, good to know |

One of our member got the email. I *love* this bit: "If you are an EDI customer, we have already talked with your library automation vendor..." Yeah, no. This is the first that I've heard of it. I guess we're not a "library automation vendor." |

sharpsie: You around? Got any branches to share on the SFTP part? I *think* I opened a bug years ago saying that we need to refactor the EDI upload to be smarter, but I can't be bothered to search for it right now. |

Launchpad bug 1836908 in Evergreen "EDI File Transfer Needs to be Smarter" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1836908 |

Found it searching for SFTP bugs. |
11:50 |
bott-grpl |
Yep. I found that one earlier too. Seems to be the only bug with the string: sftp |
11:51 |
Dyrcona |
is there SFTP code already there? Just rereading the bug makes think that there is. I'll have to look again, later. (Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week.) |

My thought on making the connection smarter is to group (or to pool) by host and login. We login once, check everything, then logout and move on to the next account. In our case, that would drop the connection from 100+ to less than 20. |
11:54 |
Dyrcona |
We could even combine the fetcher and pusher into one, further reducing the number of connections. |
11:56 |
Dyrcona |
Along the way, it might be nice to add a more generic upload module that could be used by other processes. We've got to do exports for Aspen and other services/vendors, so why not have something built in to Open-ILS? |

I think there should be a feature in Evergreen, probably in Server Admin...so a user interface that includes a set of buttons that allow the user (with the appropriate permissions) to select the level of smart they need to be for that client session. |
12:10 |
redavis |
The buttons would follow the UI style guide being generated by the interest group...in case that helps push this request further down the road. |
12:12 |
Dyrcona |
The "Easy" button isn't good enough? :) |
12:12 |
Dyrcona |
Oh, wait, that's not us.... :) |
12:12 |

No, I think there needs to be granularization. |
12:13 |
redavis |
In fact, I think it should be overgranularized. |
12:13 |
redavis |
And, there should be a button that helps you understand the granularization. |
12:15 |
Dyrcona |
So, a complicated interface to simplify things? |
12:15 |
berick |
@dunno add is your coffee overgranularized? |

@later tell Dyrcona note: we (at least "a" vendor for Evergreen) also did not hear about the Ingram SFTP change until the LP updates over the last few days, driven by that email. |
