08:45 dbs Dang. Astros actually won it in the bottom of the 14th. And the mra reingest continues on. MADNESS.

10:54 remingtron Anyone at Equinox know the status of demo.evergreencatalog.com? I get connection errors during login with XUL client.
11:07 bmills joined #evergreen
11:19 jeff remingtron: what errors are you getting? are you using a XUL client with a version stamp supported by the server? https://demo.evergreencatalog.com/xul/
11:20 Christineb joined #evergreen
11:22 remingtron jeff: yes, using the 2.10.2 client from the community servers wiki page
11:24 remingtron jeff: authentication succeeds, "Loading data" section starts filling with text, then seems like connectivity errors
11:24 remingtron "Call to [open-ils.circ.survey.retrieve.required] failed..."
11:24 remingtron "DBD::Pg::st execute failed: no connection to the server"
11:28 jeff ah. THAT kind of error. :-)
11:29 remingtron jeff: yeah. Thanks for triaging.

11:37 dbs Ah, new self-check machine coming in, and I get to ask the vendor about tunnelling SIP again
11:38 kmlussier joined #evergreen
11:38 jeff heh
11:38 * dbs wonders if the state of the art has advanced beyond installing cygwin/openssh on the self-check machine
11:40 dbs haven't even seen the self-check machine yet but assume it's still running windows
11:48 jeff some additional options which may or may not be suitable: MyEnTunnel, Bitvise Tunnelier, stunnel for Windows...
11:51 dbs Yeah, saw those on a quick search but always like to stick with something that other Evergreeners are actually using :)
12:05 jihpringle joined #evergreen
12:22 tsbere dbs: I tend to run plink on the self check machine for tunnels. Or any other machine on the local network, really.
12:30 dbs tsbere++
12:31 jeff tsbere: does plink re-establish when the tunnel goes down, or do you just reboot the client in those cases?
12:31 tsbere dbs / jeff: I can provide my shell script I have libraries use. I usually tell them to set it up as a different user on boot via the task scheduler.
12:33 tsbere actually, here, have our "update your scripts" file. Doesn't contain their private key file, but otherwise everything is there: http://mvlcstaff.org/downloads/tunnel_update.zip
12:35 tsbere The -hostkey option prevents "is this the right key?" startup issues....provided it is correct. If multiple keys may exist, provide it multiple times, and if any match it doesn't prompt. :D
12:36 tsbere dbs / jeff: Oh, and in there I use 0.0.0.0:6001:127.0.0.1:6001 for the forwarder. Without the "0.0.0.0:" part on the local side it only listens on localhost, with it you get all interfaces.
12:42 JBoyer Does anyone have anything handy for batch patron imports? I need to load enough that I'm not using the client but before I start reinventing perfectly good wheels I wanted to ask.
12:43 tsbere JBoyer: Insert into the staging tables, then do the dance from there with the client, otherwise most of what I have seen done has been "go play in the DB directly anyway"
12:43 * tsbere suspects anything someone has would need adjustments due to what fields are available anyway, local patron groups, etc
12:45 JBoyer tsbere: Thanks, I'll check that out. Has to beat writing sql by hand.
12:46 tsbere JBoyer: Also, perhaps look at the sample data patron loading.
12:46 Dyrcona JBoyer: I don't have anything that might be generic enough to use. Have you looked at the ESI migration-tools repo: git://git.esilibrary.com/migration-tools.git ?
12:48 JBoyer Dyrcona, I haven't yet, but that might be good enough. I've got a spreadsheet with all of the necessary fields (in my opinion, anyway) in a single row. The mig tools might make that easier than trying to pull it apart and stick pieces in various tables.

13:37 bshum mrpeters: Pass on my congrats to Anahi Valdez, for translating so much of Spanish in LP
13:37 bshum I just checked up the progress, and it's looking sweet :)
13:38 bshum https://translations.launchpad.net/evergreen/master/+lang/es  (tpac is done, whoot, whoot!)
13:38 bshum *has been done, just noticed the timestamp
13:38 mrpeters bshum: will do!
13:38 bshum I look forward to testing it out later :)
13:42 bshum From 36.88% to over 90.6% in 2 months.  Pretty, pretty!

14:29 csharp ugh - reporter.classic_current_circ is creating bad and very long-running queries
14:29 abowling joined #evergreen
14:30 csharp gonna try to figure out the slowness problem first, then work on the "bad" part
14:49 jeff heh. roanoke.northtexaslibraries.org is reporting missing cover art to one of our endpoints.
14:50 jvwoolf left #evergreen
14:51 tsbere csharp: For all you know, the "bad" and "slow" are the same problem ;)
14:55 csharp actually, looks like the "slow" is due to a join to metabib.rec_descriptor, but commenting that out still results in "bad" :-)
14:56 * tsbere doesn't think MVLC even has that loaded
14:56 csharp yeah, its value is negligible, so don't bother :-)
14:57 csharp however, I highly recommend reporter.classic_item_list
14:57 csharp (if you can work around the PINES-ish "legacy stat cat" business)
15:01 tsbere csharp: If I were to make anything like that at this point I would probably want to include icon and/or search formats on top of the rest. And remove the stat cat stuff for general use.
15:02 mmorgan1 joined #evergreen
15:06 csharp yeah, there's a lot a room for improvement for that view
15:17 csharp ah, and it's wrong because it does an inner join to actor.usr_address on usr.billing_address, which may be null
15:18 tsbere heh
15:19 tsbere csharp: If you want me to dig out some of my icon/search format list join code from MVLC's reports I can send that your way
15:20 csharp tsbere: yes, please! thanks
15:24 yboston quick question, has anyone used the EG client on a Microsoft Surface?
15:31 bshum yboston: Like how old of a Surface?
15:32 bshum Cause I think some of those things only come with a super barebones Microsoft OS that can only run their appstore stuff.
15:32 bshum And that won't be able to run an EG client
15:32 bshum But if it's real Windows, then sure, why not?
15:32 bshum Like any other tablet at that point.
15:32 bshum *tablet/hybrid-ridiculousness
15:32 * bshum is old fashioned :(
15:37 bshum "Windows RT" = no
15:38 bshum But if it's Surface 3 or better, looks like those came with Windows 10.
15:38 bshum Or can be upgraded to it
15:42 gsams yboston: I believe most Surface Pros should be running proper Windows.  Ben is right about the Surface 3, the first and second came with RT.
15:48 dbs real    2690m52.685s
15:48 dbs yayz
15:49 bshum dbs++ # yay!
15:51 dbs Turns out that I ran it against a slightly older clone of our production database, so I get to run it again with pingest for a real comparison :)
15:51 yboston bshum: thanks, it will be a new one MS Surface, so windows 10
15:51 yboston gsams: thanks
15:52 bshum dbs: I'll revise my "yay!" to "yay?" then :)
15:53 dbs hah, and it actually ended due to psql:2.10.reingest.sql:20: ERROR:  invalid XML content DETAIL:  Entity: line 74: parser error : Premature end of data in tag record line 1 </datafield>
15:53 * tsbere looks at a new request for parameter changes....for basketballs
16:01 Dyrcona basketballs? really?
16:03 tsbere Yes, really.
16:03 tsbere Two Spalding basketballs.
