Anyone at Equinox know the status of demo.evergreencatalog.com? I get connection errors during login with XUL client. |

remingtron: what errors are you getting? are you using a XUL client with a version stamp supported by the server? https://demo.evergreencatalog.com/xul/ |

wonders if the state of the art has advanced beyond installing cygwin/openssh on the self-check machine |

haven't even seen the self-check machine yet but assume it's still running windows |

some additional options which may or may not be suitable: MyEnTunnel, Bitvise Tunnelier, stunnel for Windows... |

Yeah, saw those on a quick search but always like to stick with something that other Evergreeners are actually using :) |

tsbere: does plink re-establish when the tunnel goes down, or do you just reboot the client in those cases? |
12:31 |

dbs / jeff: I can provide my shell script I have libraries use. I usually tell them to set it up as a different user on boot via the task scheduler. |
12:33 |
tsbere |
actually, here, have our "update your scripts" file. Doesn't contain their private key file, but otherwise everything is there: http://mvlcstaff.org/downloads/tunnel_update.zip |
12:35 |
tsbere |
The -hostkey option prevents "is this the right key?" startup issues....provided it is correct. If multiple keys may exist, provide it multiple times, and if any match it doesn't prompt. :D |
12:36 |
tsbere |
dbs / jeff: Oh, and in there I use 0.0.0.0:6001:127.0.0.1:6001 for the forwarder. Without the "0.0.0.0:" part on the local side it only listens on localhost, with it you get all interfaces. |

Does anyone have anything handy for batch patron imports? I need to load enough that I'm not using the client but before I start reinventing perfectly good wheels I wanted to ask. |
12:43 |
tsbere |
JBoyer: Insert into the staging tables, then do the dance from there with the client, otherwise most of what I have seen done has been "go play in the DB directly anyway" |
12:43 |
* tsbere |
suspects anything someone has would need adjustments due to what fields are available anyway, local patron groups, etc |
12:45 |
JBoyer |
tsbere: Thanks, I'll check that out. Has to beat writing sql by hand. |
12:46 |
tsbere |
JBoyer: Also, perhaps look at the sample data patron loading. |
12:46 |

JBoyer: I don't have anything that might be generic enough to use. Have you looked at the ESI migration-tools repo: git://git.esilibrary.com/migration-tools.git ? |
12:48 |
JBoyer |
Dyrcona, I haven't yet, but that might be good enough. I've got a spreadsheet with all of the necessary fields (in my opinion, anyway) in a single row. The mig tools might make that easier than trying to pull it apart and stick pieces in various tables. |

actually, looks like the "slow" is due to a join to metabib.rec_descriptor, but commenting that out still results in "bad" :-) |

(if you can work around the PINES-ish "legacy stat cat" business) |

quick question, has anyone used the EG client on a Microsoft Surface? |
15:31 |

Cause I think some of those things only come with a super barebones Microsoft OS that can only run their appstore stuff. |
