the fun thing about playing with search is you find so many interesting bad records and potential existing bugs. |
12:23 |
jeff |
At present, I suspect I'm running into another reminder of "the MODS 3.2 transform in the database is different" |
12:25 |
Bmagic |
is there a database function that spills out the electronic bib scopes for a given bib/branch combo ? |
12:27 |
Bmagic |
im using asset.call_number WHERE owning_lib IN(SELECT id FROM actor.org_unit_descendants(4,1)) AND label = '##URI##' AND record = 511550 but that doesn't cover the case when there are no $9 and therefore should show up for everyone |
12:27 |
tsbere |
Bmagic: If the bib is transcendant then the scope would be "everywhere" (and thus you don't need the $9s) |
12:28 |
tsbere |
Beyond that not sure what you are going for |
12:28 |
Bmagic |
I want to ask the db if this bib should be viewable at this branch in the case of electronic |
12:28 |
jeff |
Bmagic: Is the "no $9 and therefore should show up for everyone" behavior because the bib source is marked as transcendant? Or are you referring to the staff-only behavior of "bibs with no copies show up for everyone"? |
12:29 |
Bmagic |
unscoped URL's in the 856's show up for everyone by default (for us) and I assumed that was default |
12:30 |
dbs |
Bmagic: the links will be displayed, but you need to have a copy attached or they need to be transcendent to have the record show up in search at all |
12:30 |
dbs |
(in the case that there is no $9, that is) |
12:30 |
Bmagic |
transcendent is a library setting? |
12:30 |
jeff |
Bmagic: a setting on config.bib_source |
12:30 |
dbs |
transcendent record source |
12:31 |
jeff |
where config.bib_source has an id that can be referenced by biblio.record_entry.source |
12:31 |
Bmagic |
the biblio.record_entry. source is null |
12:32 |
jeff |
then without a copy or a 856 with $9 (and other relevant criteria), I expect it only shows up "everywhere" for staff searches. |
12:33 |
Bmagic |
so lacking the link to config.bib_source I believe it shows up for the public |
12:33 |
jeff |
And it is doing that because Evergreen says "bibs with zero holdings show up everywhere for staff". |
12:33 |
jeff |
Bmagic: do you have an example record and public catalog url? |
12:33 |
Bmagic |
I was just about to find one |
12:34 |
jeff |
come up with a suitable search, and compare the results of staff and public search using those terms. |
12:37 |
* tsbere |
usually searches for the bib ID/TCN in keyword search for this kind of thing |
12:41 |
Bmagic |
hmm, I could have swore this was the case |
12:41 |
Bmagic |
so, there isn't a built in function that returns the yay or nay for "this electronic record can be shown in this context" ? |
12:45 |
|
yboston joined #evergreen |
12:46 |
dbs |
Bmagic: that's complicated, but as soon as you bring "context" into the mix, $9s spring to mind |
12:50 |
jeff |
Bmagic: the logic that handles that under a normal basis is contained within search.query_parser_fts |
12:51 |
jeff |
Bmagic: and there is no utility function that I'm aware of what what you describe. If it were to exist or be created, it should be sure to pay attention to things like the config.global_flag opac.located_uri.act_as_copy |
12:52 |
jeff |
Bmagic: depending on your needs, it may be useful for you to read search.query_parser_fts and adapt part of its logic either for your query at hand, or to create a new utility function/view. I'll admit to not having given the options there much detailed thought. :-) |

quick sanity check: i'm using the following to transform a given record to mods32 using the in-db copy/fork of the marcxml to mods32 xslt: select evergreen.oils_xslt_process((select marc from biblio.record_entry where id = 45012480), (select xslt from config.xml_transform where name = 'mods32')); |

I'm going to look for more examples, but I am also wondering if the relevant xpath libs handle "//mods32:mods/mods32:name[@type='personal' and not(mods32:role/mods32:roleTerm[text()='creator'])]" in a way othan than the Python lxml library (which so far, is the only thing I've compared it with) |

15:02 |

(facets, filtering, etc) |
15:02 |
miker |
jeff: indeed. stock master has a word order rel bump enabled. that doubles the time by itself |
15:03 |
miker |
for, say, "the" keyword search |
15:03 |
miker |
facets speed things up, actually -- they're exact match and filter records before vis checking happens |
15:04 |

most time is spent in visibility checking |
15:05 |

preferred language relevance bumping adds ~20%, even after removing the word order bump |
