For the Google community event calendar, is there a way to share it without being an owner? |

can anyone confirm that a fresh installation from Evergreen main has a problem saving a patron? "ReferenceError: $ is not defined" |
| 12:06 |
Bmagic |
mabye it's form validation error, without feedback? None of the boxes are yellow or otherwise flagged as being a problem |
| 12:08 |

Bmagic: New patron, or edited patron? Or both? |
| 12:14 |
Bmagic |
I searched for "smith" and chose to edit "sarah" |

Bmagic: What was the problem? |

I have a report of an item that cannot be checked in. Retarget Local Holds and Retarget All Statuses modifiers are in use and some holds are retargeted, and then the checkin fails on updating copy status with a "No active transaction" error. |
| 13:37 |
jeffdavis |
Seems like maybe the cstore editor object has a transaction open, the retargets do a "commit" which closes the transaction, but a new transaction isn't initiated prior to updating the copy status? |
| 13:37 |
jeffdavis |
Or am I barking up the wrong tree? |
| 13:37 |
mmorgan |
jeffdavis: Which release? |
| 13:37 |
jeffdavis |
3.14 |
| 13:38 |
jeffdavis |
3.14.4-ish specifically |
| 13:40 |
mmorgan |
We ran into bug 2107346 that would be present in 3.14. It is relevant if any copies that could be targeted are actually serial.units. |

There are no serial units attached to the bib (and we don't do metarecord holds), so I think it's not that. |

jeffdavis: postgresql logs should have *something* relevant, I'd think |
| 14:09 |
jeffdavis |
Not seeing anything in PG logs - I think the attempt to update copy status never hits the db because cstore bails due to no transaction? |
| 14:10 |
mmorgan |
jeffdavis: Anything in the browser console? |
| 14:12 |
jeffdavis |
The no active transaction error shows in the console followed by a "TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'evt')" which I think just means the error is unhandled |
| 14:13 |
Dyrcona |
You might be able to find something in the osrfsys.log. |
| 14:23 |
jeffdavis |
All I see in osrfsys logs is holds being retargeted followed by the copy update which fails with "An unknown server error occurred" and "No active transaction" |
| 14:24 |
jeffdavis |
my guess at seeing those errors is a PG error but I don't see the update query in the PG logs at all, let alone any related error |
| 14:27 |
mmorgan |
jeffdavis: Anything unusual in the action.circulation or asset.copy rows? |
| 14:34 |
Dyrcona |
jeffdavis: When I've seen the no transaction thing before, it was usually some kind of db thing, like a missing required field or a timeout or some trigger blew up, and depending on the Pg settings they aren't always logged. |
| 14:34 |
Dyrcona |
jeffdavis: Are you sure the IDL being used by Evergreen is up to date? |
| 14:34 |
Dyrcona |
I've seen an IDL mismatch cause update failures that can seem mysterious. |
| 14:40 |
jeffdavis |
IDL looks up to date. |
| 14:49 |
jeffdavis |
Not seeing any invalid or missing-but-required fields in the update acp object. |
| 14:51 |
jeffdavis |
There are about 90 holds on the title - not all are local but maybe it's a timeout issue. The update fails about 11s after the initial open-ils.circ.checkin call. |
| 14:58 |
jeffdavis |
most of that time is spent retargeting the 9 local holds (which is kind of wild, retarget local holds shouldn't cause that kind of delay on checkin) |
| 14:58 |
Dyrcona |
jeffdavis: That could be it. Maybe there's a missing index on action.hold_request or statistics need updating. |
| 14:59 |
Dyrcona |
You could try a vacuum analyze on the relevant tables. |
| 15:02 |
jeffdavis |
1.1s for json_query to retrieve targetable copies on each of those holds, that seems to be the holdup |
| 15:02 |
Dyrcona |
I do find retrieving from ahr to be slow at times. |
| 15:04 |
jeffdavis |
I'll try vacuum analyze but does it even make sense for checkin to be delayed by the retargeting? |
| 15:05 |
jeffdavis |
Seems like that process should be initiated by checkin but proceed "in the background" rather than blocking checkin while it runs? |
| 15:05 |
Dyrcona |
If they choose retarget local holds, then yes. It has to be retargeted for staff to put it on the hold shelf for the approrpiate patron. |
| 15:06 |
Bmagic |
Dyrcona: my problem was a symlink in /openils/web/js/ui/default |
| 15:07 |
Dyrcona |
Bmagic: OK. "A wild Symlink appears." :) |

Hi all, have any of y'all has an issue with concatenation behavior inside of sent emails(concatenating ISBN and Title details further down in the email) while adding items to a basket and pressing the "Email Title Details" |
| 15:08 |
Dyrcona |
jeffdavis: I've encountered issue with the retarget options with large hold queues in the past. Sometimes we've instructed libraries not to use those options. |
