Dyrcona: after you mentioned new Debian I installed it on a VM and was able to run the OpenSRF install without issue - haven't fully poked, but so far so good |
| 09:56 |
csharp_ |
that is to say that I just added a trixie target for generic-debian and it worked |

bleh - we should allow lsb_release to tell us what OS we're on in our Makefile scripts (looking at the postgres server options, one per distro, per PG version adds up fast) |
| 14:46 |
csharp_ |
I guess I should say, per distro, per distro release, per PG version |
| 14:56 |
JBoyer |
May as well, we already depend on it in Makefile.debian to setup the pgdg repo |

JBoyer: Keep in mind that on Ubunut (at least) the lsb packages need to be installed for lsb_release to work properly. IIRC, only `lsb_release -a` works on Ubuntu out of the box. |

Heh, Ubunut.... |

book` is an Ubunut. |

I used to be an Ubunut |

now a Fedorant |
| 15:01 |
JBoyer |
It also does on some recent debian systems, so it should probably just be installed automatically reguardless of deb-based distribution in use. |
| 15:01 |
csharp_ |
redhat-ish distros do need to install it first |
| 15:01 |

but that's no big |

Fedorant sounds like a treatment for early-onset male-pattern Indiana Jonesitis |
| 15:02 |
csharp_ |
pretty sure I had a case of that as a tweenager |

my grandfather gave me a fedora and I bought a whip in Gatlinburg |

Hello all, how do I restart the staff client after restarting Evergreen server? I have restarted apache2 and opensrf - OPAC catalogue comes up fine but staff client shows a blank white page. |

Lorne: can you confirm that websocketd is running? |

ok, starting websocketd as Opensrf user throws "Permission denied" errors. Should I file a bug report? |

Lorne: can you share the errors in a pastebin or something? |

| 15:42 |
Lorne |
The terminal output writes more lines whenever I refresh the staff client page in the browser, so it is trying to connect at least |
| 15:47 |
csharp_ |
Lorne: are you using nginx as a proxy? |
| 15:49 |
csharp_ |
permission denied could be file perms or it could be something's not running (or looking at the wrong port) |
| 15:49 |
csharp_ |
the "failed to load external entity" error points to a file perm problem - perhaps /openils and below are not owned by opensrf? |
| 15:50 |
csharp_ |
e.g., chown -R opensrf:opensrf /openils (as root) |
| 15:53 |
csharp_ |
Lorne: walking away for a bit, but maybe others can help you troubleshoot - I would verify websocketd is running, if you're using nginx as a proxy, make sure all the ports in nginx/apache2/websocketd line up correctly |
| 16:02 |
Lorne |
@csharp_ ++ changing ownership of the files to opensrf did the trick. Shouldn't that be covered in the Ansible script at https://github.com/berick/evergreen-ansible-installer, though? |
