Maybe you've already seen this, but I discovered that renewing an item while the autorenew process is running for that circulation leads to the autorenew event getting an error state with no error output. We've had 10 of these since April 20, so it doesn't happen that often, but it does happen. |

We just changed our schedule for autorenew to spread them out throughout the day, so I've been looking at them off and on for the past two weeks. I noticed some error events, so I had a look. |

I looked one of the circulations up and noticed that the stop_fines_time coincided with the a/t run... Well, wait a minute... I should check the type of renewal. |

I might not have discovered anything special. It could still be getting errors for no apparent reason. |

I think my hypothesis holds for some of them at least. Two of them have a stop_fines of checkin, the others all have stop fines of renew, but the various renewal fields are all "false." Which is interesting..... (Also there should be 1 renewal field with an enum type, but that's an opinion.) |

So, maybe there is a bug where items can get renewed without the appropriate renewal field being set on the circulation, or does that appear on the new circulation? /me checks. |

Pretty much every case of a "missed" autorenewal, i.e. a circulation with a due date in the range of the autorenew event delay and having autorenew_remaining > 0 / not null, has had the due date messed with by staff. Either during or after the checkout, i.e. the due date does not match what it should be based on the duration rule. I most cases it looks like staff were using a fixed due date during checkout. |
