Despite the speed up, it still looks like this ingest is going to take another 20 days and 9 hours..... |

The database will get refreshed in the meantime..... Guess I'll stop it. |

hrm... This is going to be an interesting rebase... I want to drop a bunch of commits, split one commit up into several smaller commits, and then squash some other commits into the new commits. I wonder if I can get away with doing it once, or will I have to do two rebases.... |
10:04 |
Dyrcona |
Now that I think about it, maybe I should rebase a different branch and then recreate the branch that I was planning to rebase from scratch.... |
10:19 |
Dyrcona |
I suppose that I could just make a new branch without rebasing either.... |
10:25 |
Dyrcona |
hm... wonder if I really need the changes to these two images. I'll make them their own commit so I can remove them later for testing. |

a) Does anyone use KPAC? b) Do you use override directories with KPAC? |

Still working on this rebase, and I think I want to reorganize things even more. |

oof. editor temporary file is causing an issue.... |
11:02 |
Dyrcona |
oooh. I tried `git rm <deletedfilename>` and git didn't like that. Then I tried `git add <deletedefilename>` and git didn't like that either. I did `git add .` and the deleted file was removed from the cache/staged files. |
11:24 |
Dyrcona |
FTL: git didn't like `git restore --staged <deletedfilename>` either. I tried that first. |

Does anybody have any scripts that they use to clean up transactions where the balance is $0 and the item is checked in but xact_finish is still null? We have a lot of these in our database and have been thinking about the best way to clean them up. |

Dyrcona: Just saw your question about kpac this morning. We use it but I don't believe we use override directories. |
13:21 |
Dyrcona |
jvwoolf: Thanks. We're using an override directory now, so thought I would ask. We have customized it a bit. |
13:23 |
Dyrcona |
jvwoolf: Sorry that I don't have an answer for you. I might have done something like that years ago at MVCL, but if so, I don't have it any more. |

heh. s/MVCL/MVLC/ |

BTW, for those who do use overrides, even multiple override directories, I've got a neat way to manage them in git. I'm trying to work out a more streamlined method, so be sure to attend my pre-conference session. (Shameless self promotion.) |

I know this is working against my own self-interest, but we've seen a real slowdown in the commitments to hackfest projects this past week. People need to commit by the end of next Friday if they want to be included. |
13:32 |
kmlussier |
There are many people I know who will be participating in the hackfests and haven't signed up. If you're not interested in cookies or hearing me sing karaoke, I wouldn't blame you. But I have something else planned. If you've worked close with me in the past, I strongly encourage you to sign up. |
13:33 |
kmlussier |
Of course, I'm happy to hear from others as well. As a reminder, the form is here - https://forms.gle/h5ojQL7dsiKupJre9 |

I won't poke people individually. I'll leave that to rhamby. |

Also, I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you in a couple of weeks! |

Are there any remote participation plans for the hackfest? I know the room it's happening in is not the one that's set up for remote attendance... |

jeffdavis: we can probably rig something up |
14:03 |

When you say "the form is here", is there also something that explains the form, or does the form explain itself as much as it's going to? |
14:03 |
jeff |
(i.e., where does the form go, what's going to be done with the data, etc.) |
14:04 |
mmorgan |
jvwoolf: I don't have scripts, but have used some sloppy queries to close transactions in the past. |
14:08 |
Dyrcona |
jeff: AFAIK: The data goes to klmlussier and rhamby. It will be used to determine who gets cookies and whether or not kmlussier sings karaoke on Thursday night at the conference. |
14:09 |
Dyrcona |
The form was self-explanatory when I filled it in. |
14:11 |

and whether or not I get to pick Kathy's song ... which would be great, I have a long one in mind that is good for sing alongs |

jeff: I also post the names of people who committed in my weekly tuit blog posts and, in the last blog post, will post a list of things people committed to doing without attaching those tasks to any names. I may also say some nice things about people. And, yes, rhamby and I are the only ones who see the form results. |
15:19 |
kmlussier |
And my song is a short 2:30 minutes. |
15:19 |
kmlussier |
In case rhamby is inclined to just let me pick my own. :) |
15:19 |
Dyrcona |
hmm. I could call it "karaoke" but I might get sued. :) |
15:20 |
kmlussier |
Dyrcona: I would ask more about that, but I need to skedaddle. |
15:20 |
rhamby |
the one I have in mind for kmlussier has two versions a 4 minute and an 8 minute long one, and I suspect a lot people know a lot of the lyrics already |
15:20 |
Dyrcona |
I'm suggesting a song that starts off "A long, long time ago..." My wife picked once when we did karaoke together and she only knew the chorsus. |
15:21 |
rhamby |
Dyrcona: that might well be the song I've picked :) |
15:21 |
Dyrcona |
Devious! |
15:21 |
kmlussier |
rhamby: Rogan, I can't really explain how much you don't really want to listen to me sing for eight minutes. Really, people leave the room when I sing. So does my cat. |
15:22 |
* kmlussier |
needs to stop using the word "really" so much. |
15:22 |
kmlussier |
jeffdavis: And remote attendees are welcome to participate too! I don't know how, but I'll get cookies to you somehow, someday. |
15:23 |
Dyrcona |
It's one of those songs that every thinks they know, until it comes time to sing it. |
15:23 |
kmlussier |
Dyrcona: This is why rhamby has to give me a full week to practice. I remember you telling me this story once before, and I took it to heart. |
15:23 |
kmlussier |
Yikes! The clock is ticking. Bye! |
15:23 |
Dyrcona |
Bye! |
15:24 |
rhamby |
Dyrcona I in part picked it because I assumed I didn't know it but it came on one day and I found I knew a good bit (not all) of it |
15:26 |
Dyrcona |
yeah, same. |

Dyrcona++ # sounds like a cool solution ;) |
15:39 |
Dyrcona |
Well, it will be better than doing it by hand or even using macros in a text editor to write the commands to do it. |
15:51 |
Dyrcona |
hmm. Seems like relocater or relocatinator might be a more appropriate name, but overridinator sounds cooler. :) |
