Some peole have wonderful timing. Friday before an upgrade they ask to change their logo in the OPAC. |
09:15 |
Dyrcona |
Related to that. I have a question for Bmagic.... |
09:17 |
Dyrcona |
Sinkiewicz: "You're gettin' to be a real problem child." |
09:29 |
JBoyer |
Dyrcona, aren't you a little young to be overriding the system? ;) |
09:30 |
JBoyer |
And here's a fun thing I found this morning if anyone needs to have more fun on a Friday: https://tabloid.vercel.app/ PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE. |

Tempting as that is, I don't think it will replace whitespace:https://esolangs.org/wiki/Whitespace |

I remember whitespace. I feel like they missed a trick not finding a way to make use of vertical-tab and non-breaking-space. :D |
09:42 |
Dyrcona |
I never tried to use it, not even for the silly factor. |
09:42 |
Dyrcona |
JBoyer: You got the wrong guy. I'm trying to take over the tristate area, not build a roller coaster. :) |

09:46 |

That's how a lot of my coding / troubleshooting goes. |
09:46 |
Dyrcona |
Heh. That's LIES for all of us. :) |
09:50 |

this is genius. Can we get this integrated in Evergreen somehow |
09:51 |

Maybe make all of the YAOUS more fun by converting the types to tabloid |

reminds me of the NPM module named "Make Fetch Happen" |
09:59 |

10:00 |

that's a real module, just with a clever name |

It would be a lot more fun if any of us had heard of it separately from trying to find out why it causes builds to fail. |
10:00 |

(or used to, anyway) |

I've had to bump the 5MB limit to 25 for some reason back in the day. I don't recall the last time it's happened though. |
10:08 |
Dyrcona |
JBoyer: I remember bumping that limit, too. |
10:09 |
Dyrcona |
Something to do with building/fetching Typescript, IIRC. |
10:11 |
Dyrcona |
Hmm. This is weird. I've got my phone playing all music tracks on shuffle, and it's just played 3 by XTC in a row. |
10:18 |
berick |
Dyrcona: i heard somewhere spotify had to change their random/shuffle to be less random / more intentionally random cuz people felt it wasn't really random |
10:18 |
berick |
cuz stuff like 3 in a row just happens |
10:19 |
Dyrcona |
Yeah, 3 in a row does happen. They weren't from the same albums. |
10:21 |
Dyrcona |
It's playing a long Jethro Tull song, now. It would have been less surprising if it played 3 by JT in a row. I have almost all of their studio stuff and a live compilation or two. They represent about 9% of my collection. |
10:22 |
Dyrcona |
And now, some Warren Zevon.... |

I've been a subscriber of pandora for about 5 years. Still good. I'm sure all these services basically work the same |
10:23 |
Bmagic |
But I can say that I've not heard the same song twice in a row, ever, that I can recall anyways |
10:23 |
Dyrcona |
Well, this is the Samsung Music Player (i.e. basic Android music app with Samsung modifications) playing files stored on the phone. I don't subscribe to a service. |
10:23 |
Bmagic |
ah, now I understand |
10:23 |
Dyrcona |
Yeah, I've not heard the same song twice in a row, either. |

Huh. Just got a sales call from a vendor saying that they "had heard" that I was going to be at the Evergreen conference, and wanting to schedule a time to meet, and to invite me to attend their "presentation". Did I miss a "don't share my personal information for marketing purposes" checkbox again? |
10:49 |
jeff |
Perhaps I did: "One week before the conference, all exhibitors will be emailed a pre-show list of attendees and their contact information (attendees do have the option to opt out). There is no additional cost for this service." |
10:55 |
Bmagic |
jeff: lol. It's a new world we live in now. I've been worn out trying. I gave up and trained my brain to fuzz out ad's and false invitations. It's a biological adblocker at this point. Pretty reliable. |
10:57 |
Bmagic |
I guess you could say I've installed the brain add-on/extension |

doesn't remember seeing such an option, but I signed up months ago, and memory for "inconsequential" things ain't what it used to be. |
11:04 |
jeff |
I don't see any option to opt out, and I looked for one when I registered. I suspect that someone forgot to give attendees the option. |

Not sure if it was sent in response to the discussion above, but I just got an email with an option to opt out of sharing attendee info. |

jeffdavis: Same here. I didn't mention anything outside of the channel. |
13:00 |

Remote attendee registration only ended yesterday, so it would make sense it would go out today if it couldn't be included during registration. |
13:01 |

jeffdavis: I believe it was sent not in direct response to the above, but in response to a inquiry I sent to the conference organizer. :-) |

"HI JEFF! Thanks for visiting our booth at "conference you haven't gone to in years but we still have your email in our leads from 7 years ago!" |

"You are receiving this email because: we made something up so that we could tell our marketing company that you opted in when you have in fact never heard of us." |

The one benefit of this particular group of vendors is that I'm unlikely to receive any "Hello JASON, how many Evergreen's can we put you down for?" |

Dyrcona |
