does anyone have an example of a circumstance where you might use name keywords? |
14:20 |
jeff |
is it mostly for throwing in first name variations like adding "Nick" for "Nicholas" and/or for adding a keyword of "wooster" for Mr Worcester? |
14:20 |
jeff |
release notes and commit message aren't obvious, but I feel like I'm missing a common use case. |

jeff: bookclub |
15:16 |
jihpringle |
if you want to easily be able to identify everyone in your library's bookclub so you can retrieve their accounts for placing holds |
15:16 |
jihpringle |
not sure if anyone actually does it, but that's one potential scenario we came up with |
15:25 |

first rule of bookclub: do not talk about bookclub - also name keywords |

"Patron called to report that they are receiving hold pickup notifications for holds that they don't remember placing. Approximately one per month. Patron name is Imnotin Urbookclubb." |
16:04 |
mmorgan |
jeff: Those holds must be for the patron's sibling: Imin Urbookclubb |

my wife and I were laughing at the names of 30 Rock characters: Carol Burnett, Wesley Snipes, Paul L'astname, Hazel Wassername, Jeffery Weinerslav, etc. |
16:11 |
csharp_ |
totally need to add those to concerto patrons |
16:11 |
berick |
csharp_: where do those names appear on 30 rock? |
16:11 |
csharp_ |
mostly Liz's boyfriends |
16:11 |
csharp_ |
also Floyd DeBarber |
16:12 |
* mmorgan |
was puzzled also, before realizing it's 30 Rock, not 3rd Rock :) |
16:12 |
berick |
crazy, i missed most of those |
16:12 |
csharp_ |
Paul L'astname is Jenna's cross-dressing love interest |
16:12 |
csharp_ |
and Dr. Spaceman of course |
16:13 |
berick |
yeah, Spaceman's great |
16:13 |
berick |
pretty sure Tracy calls him Space-Man at some point |
16:13 |
csharp_ |
I laugh every time I see him on screen, even before he speaks |
16:13 |
csharp_ |
right, that's how he's introduced and everyone thinks Tracy made him up |
16:14 |

jeff: I've had a public school library put home room teacher's name in there |

rhamby: ah, yep. |
16:17 |
jeff |
we have used a stat cat in the past for that, which of course isn't searchable but has the benefit of being semi-controlled (useful for classroom overdue reports). |
16:18 |
jeff |
when auto-loading student records from the SIS, we can throw it in an address, which then gives us the ability to search AND report, but isn't very practical for staff to manually update (when we're not auto-loading) |
16:28 |
jeff |
though it would be slightly more practical if we auto-created empty homeroom addresses... hrm. |

(something to think about later) |
