10:14 Bmagic Is there a setting that keeps billing up to the day instead of a day behind? I know money.billing recieved some new columns to clear up some confusion and I can't remember the state of the affairs in this department
10:16 Dyrcona Bmagic: I think that may have something to do with how often you run the fine generator.
10:16 Bmagic I was thinking the same thing, however, that cron hasn't changed and this is a new issue after upgrading from 3.1 to 3.3
10:17 Bmagic runs at 12:30am once a day
10:17 Dyrcona We run it hourly.
10:17 Bmagic I was thinking of bumping it to every 2 hours
10:18 Bmagic Just checking if there was something else I was missing
10:19 Dyrcona Actually...We run it hourly from 7:00 am to midnight (inclusive): 0,7-23 in the hour column.
10:19 Bmagic sound sane
10:19 Bmagic sounds
10:19 Dyrcona There could be something that changed in 3.3. We're on 3.2 and no one has reported anything.
10:26 JBoyer Bmagic are there any recurring fine rules that are more frequent than daily?
10:26 JBoyer If not, there's no real need to run it more than once a day. I would be curious what timezone the effected customers are in though.
10:27 mmorgan Bmagic: Not sure if this might be relevant: bug 1748924

10:30 Bmagic JBoyer: Not sure, but might as well run it often? Only drawback is CPU cycles?
10:30 Bmagic mmorgan++
10:32 JBoyer I suppose. every hour or two isn't going to chew on much really. Up to you. :)
10:37 Dyrcona We have hourly fines, and we used to run it every half hour, but at some point around 2.12 or 3.0, we started getting a lot of the "I seem to be running messages," so I dropped the fine generator to run hourly.
10:38 Dyrcona Then, we skipped it between one and six in the morning because other jobs were running and there may have been some interference.
10:39 Dyrcona And, yeah, different timezones could be an issue since you're running it close to midnight.
10:49 berick Bmagic: let us know if running it more often has an impact.  given only day-granular circs, where due times are always bumped to the end of the day (23:59:59), i'd be surprised if it did.  But there could be pieces I'm not considering.
10:50 Bmagic I'll keep tabs on it

10:56 Dyrcona I am reminded of something that tsbere and I noticed years ago that *may* still be an issue. There seemed to be an automatic 1 day delay in calculating the first overdue fine whether you used grace period or not. I don't recall if that was ever addressed nor what the cause of it was.
11:02 tlittle joined #evergreen
11:02 Bmagic Dyrcona: yeah, that sounds familiar
11:04 Dyrcona I assume you are taking grace period on the rules into account.
11:04 Bmagic Another question: What method do we use to search the bibs by OCLC symbol? Presumably appearing in the 035 (having been imported and altered to have TCN overwrite the 001)
11:09 Dyrcona Bmagic: Keyword search for the OCLC number usually works. A bib tag search for 035 with the number in it should also work.
11:09 Bmagic are the stray symbols ignored or treated special as an "OCLC" number?
11:12 Bmagic Sorry - I suppose if I search for the number and omit any letters. AKA (OCoLC)859668 = 859668
11:15 Dyrcona Bmagic: You can try it and see. I almost never try to search that way, since I am not a cataloger.
11:16 Dyrcona TBH, I almost never use the client or the OPAC any more.
11:16 Dyrcona Just to verify bug reports and fixes.
11:22 berick Bmagic: searching the full value works in stock EG / concerto.  e.g. identifier:(Sirsi) 01-0112101
11:23 berick or for more precision  identifier|scn:(Sirsi) 01-0112101
11:23 berick but just searching the numbers should also work
11:46 dbs Hmm, fun times with the 3.4 staff client - we're seeing labels and the language selector switching seemingly randomly between French and English
11:47 dbs We're testing out an upgrade from 3.1, where people barely used webby, to 3.4.1 where I hope to pull the plug on XUL
11:50 Bmagic Dyrcona++
11:50 Bmagic berick++
12:00 dbs Looks like the service worker might be serving up the cached version, disregarding the eg_locale cookie?
12:01 dbs But that doesn't make sense, if it was ignoring cookies then it would ignore the auth token etc

12:10 berick dbs: bug #1560805 may offer some insight
12:10 pinesol Launchpad bug 1560805 in Evergreen 3.2 "webclient: locale picker does not work well" [Medium,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1560805
12:11 dbs berick++ # thanks for the pointer
12:19 dbs Definitely have that patch in place, but we also have nginx caching in play. So that's another angle for me to investigate
12:29 dbs Ding! disabling nginx caching resolves the locale-switching problem.

13:49 jeff gmcharlt: ping regarding bug 1437106 -- I'm looking at this again and wondering if you had any more you could share with regard to your experiences with patching Mousetrap. I'll probably also look to see if Mousetrap has grown the feature in the meantime.
