13:04 jeff dev meeting today? doesn't look likely...
13:08 csharp I have it down for tommorow.

13:53 dbs csharp: hmm, the calendar shows today I think?
13:53 dbs https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=calendar:start
14:32 csharp well, so it does!
14:32 Bmagic Anyone famliar with this workflow: acq -> import purchase order, Items are generated and dummy barcodes assigned. Then later MARC Batch Import/Export -> Acq type -> holdings import profile to overlay the copies with the "real" barcodes
14:34 stephengwills left #evergreen
14:35 * csharp looks for tlittle but doesn't see her
14:35 csharp Bmagic: I would check with tlittle, who is very familiar with all of that :-)
14:35 Bmagic csharp++
14:36 csharp maybe Christineb knows, though?
14:36 Christineb that work flow matches what we do for our libraries who purchase shelf ready materials
14:37 Christineb they upload via acq - we overlay later with real bacodes / callnumbers
14:46 Bmagic Christineb: have you used the new angular MARC Batch Import for the last piece of that work flow?
14:46 collum_ joined #evergreen
14:54 Christineb I don't do it, Mark does, but we are using the new Angular MARC Batch import - we do have the checkboxes for Auto-overlay In-process Acquisitions Copies / Auto-overlay On-order Cataloging Items / Use Org Unit Matching in Copy to Determine Best Match
14:54 Christineb I think those might be missing from some versions
14:55 berick Christineb: are you/Mark setting the Record Type to Acq or Bib records?
14:56 Bmagic Is there a trick to it? We have a library who used the 3.1.10 Dojo interface to overlay the copies and it worked. Now, with 3.3 it doesn't
14:58 Bmagic fails silently. If you say it works, then there might be something wrong with the file. I will spend the time to run the scenario on a test machine and grep the logs at the fail point (if it's confirmed working for you)
15:00 csharp soooo, dev meeting? or are there not enough of us around today?
15:00 gmcharlt my inclination is to reboot it (the dev meeting) and reschedule for next week or the following week
15:01 * csharp agrees
15:01 * csharp hard presses the dev meeting power button
15:01 berick universe goes down for reboot
15:03 Christineb Bmagic - I will ask Mark if there is a trick - I think we had issues post upgrade but it's working now - we are on 3.3.4
15:08 Bmagic Christineb: yay! good news! I will keep fiddling
15:08 Christineb Bmagic - I've emailed Mark to ask him if he's doing anything special or if he has suggestions for you
15:08 Christineb I will let you know :)

15:40 Christineb Bmagic - from Mark -> The load will fail silently when there is a bad price in the 949$p. I run the unix marcdump command below to display all the prices and look for the bad one and fix it in marcedit.
15:40 Bmagic oh!
15:40 Bmagic Good tip
15:41 Christineb do you want his unix marcdump command?
15:46 csharp we had lots of marc batchloading issues until we worked with each vendor on what the file needs to look like
15:47 csharp bug 924952 and other issues like that didn't help

16:30 frank28 Hi all,
16:31 frank28 Does someone know How Can I active carousel on TPAC? What file and How I have to modify it
16:48 phasefx frank28: I don't have hands on experience with it, but I can tell what files were touched with this commit: https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/Evergreen.git;a=commitdiff;h=474419bea65b5c99825b19b0954c12e382989039
16:49 phasefx unless you've customized things, I believe you can do everything except for a useful CRON job within the staff client
17:00 frank28 phasefx, I am trying to add a new carousel and show it on TPAC home, but I can´t, I wanted to know if someone has already implemented this new feature in 3.4.0 EG

17:06 rlefaive hi all. Does anyone have experience with Evergreen Reports (via. Clark Kent or otherwise) that either: (a) allow you to compare today’s results with yesterday’s or last week’s (i.e. storing past data) and deliver the pre-computed comparison, or (b) send you the data as an HTML table in an email (i’d settle for a plain text email) i.e. not “click this link to view your report”? Are there ways of doing this using the built-in tools? I
17:06 rlefaive “tagged myself” in this bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1835313
17:06 pinesol Launchpad bug 1835313 in Evergreen "Programmatic access to report output" [Wishlist,Confirmed]
17:08 jeff we use Jasper Reports for that.
17:08 rlefaive thanks jeff!
17:08 jeff (which doesn't address the question you asked, quite)
17:09 rlefaive whooooooooaaaaaaaaaa this is useful though!
17:10 rlefaive does it have to use comic sans? ;) no just kidding, do you find it requires a lot of resources (human and technical) to run?
17:10 berick note to self for my logs (or anyone installing EG on ubuntu 18 in an lxc container): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ejabberd/+bug/1815699 -- ejabberd service file requires tweaks
17:10 pinesol Launchpad bug 1815699 in ejabberd (Ubuntu) "installed ejabberd package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1" [Undecided,Confirmed]
17:12 jeff it requires resources, but i'm not sure i can say "a lot" or not. we've invested a lot of time into understanding it and making it work for us, but we continue to like it (though we look around from time to time for alternatives).
17:12 jeff for "technical folk create report templates, everyone else runs them or they're scheduled/etc", it's great. it's not super useful for completely ad-hoc reporting tasks.
17:13 jeff we tied auth to LDAP, haven't gone too far down the path of tying auth to Evergreen (pondered an LDAP shim for that).
17:14 rlefaive That’s good to know, thanks. :) Oh, so JasperReports hooks into Evergreen’s Reporting features? Knowing nothing about Reporting Software (though now i know to look it up) , I would have assumed you gave it postgres db credentials and wrote SQL.
17:14 jeff a while back i presented on this at a conference, but a lot has changed since then. i've thought about re-writing some things to share.
17:14 jeff yes, it's "you give it postgres db credentials and [write] SQL"
17:14 sandbergja__ joined #evergreen
17:15 rlefaive oh, that’s what you meant by report templates. sorry, thanks. :)
17:15 jeff there's a web interface for running (or scheduling) reports, and report templates are created in an Eclipse-based IDE.
17:16 jeff I'm on my way elsewhere for a bit, but am happy to answer any other questions you may have (ask away, I'll reply when I return).
17:16 rlefaive All right. That’s a steep learning curve for us librarians, and a some burden on devs, but i really think it could help and i’ll look into it. Thanks so much for your response jeff! I’m off too.
17:21 jeff In our case, since we ("Technology") were creating all of the report templates, it seems to have made things much easier for end users to then run (or receive, in the case of scheduled reports) reports.
17:22 jeff We have a lot of people (or printers!) that just receive an email with an attached PDF, and never interact with the reports web interface at all.
17:25 Stompro Hello, I'm trying to figure out audio alerts in the web client.  Our staff are used to an audio alert when an item alert pops up, but we are not seeing that in the web staff client.  Does that need to be setup somehow?
17:32 berick Stompro: it's possible the code to invoke the audio for some alerts doesn't exist yet.
17:32 Stompro berick, thanks, I'll see if I can figure out how to add it.
17:33 berick Stompro: the code bit is pretty simple, e.g. egCore.audio.play('warning.renew');
17:34 Stompro Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
