Maybe the bot has a clog filter? # The city worked on my street's water main last night. The filter in front of my water meter got clogged by dirt. |

That's fixed, but now I am working on my furnace. Personal days are nice. If you have them, use them. |

Well, no. The filter isn't in front of the water meter... Anyway the water filter was clogged. |

I'm willing to push if the buildmasters are OK; it tests well for me and is a good improvement even if it doesn't completely resolve 1731272 |
12:11 |
JBoyer |
I'm +1; even though it doesn't completely resolve 1731272 it wasn't really intended to. And it does bring it that much closer to working. |
12:11 |

gmcharlt: I think it should go in. I am also actively looking at bug #1724348, which I think is really the other half of 1731272. |

Is there a way to suspend capture for holds that are for pickup at a given library, say for a multi-week library closure? |
14:59 |
jeff |
It seems that others have done (or at least desired) similar. |

dbwells, I'm loading it up now but may not be able to give it much time until tomorrow. I know our catalogers will be excited if you've got it sorted! |
15:15 |
JBoyer |
jeff; we've done similar things, but it was a hassle (disable the location as a pickup location, mass-freeze holds, etc.); there's no simple way to do it that I'm aware of. |
15:15 |
JBoyer |
I don't know that we have it documented much outside of asking on here. (it's been a bit.) |
15:16 |
Dyrcona |
jeff: Pretty much what JBoyer said. |
15:21 |
mmorgan |
jeff: We've employed the checkin modifier "Capture local holds as transits" if the duration of closure isn't too long. |
15:21 |
Dyrcona |
Y'know, I don't think the 3.0.12 to 3.0.13 upgrade script got forward ported, either. |
15:22 |
jeff |
mmorgan: *nod* -- we did that once for a 5-day closure of our main branch. |
15:23 |
Dyrcona |
Interesting use of that feature, as I think the main uses case was automated materials handler behind a book return slot. |
15:23 |
jeff |
Yep, that's our day-to-day use of it. |
15:23 |
mmorgan |
Essentially we used it to delay notifying patrons. |
15:23 |
Dyrcona |
Yeah, makes sense. |
15:24 |
jeff |
inside rfid book drop and AMH "capture local holds as transits", then they don't go available until the contents of the bin are scanned at a staff client and get the sticky-paper hold slip to apply to the spine, etc. |
15:25 |
* mmorgan |
was wondering what the day to day use case for that checkin modifier was :) |
15:25 |
Dyrcona |
jeff: I might have a script to two that I used at MVLC when libraries were closed for a while. |
15:26 |
jeff |
we occasionally use it on staff workstations where we check in books but don't have a receipt printer or don't have a sticky-tape printer. |
15:27 |
mmorgan |
We delay notifications for 30 minutes across the board, and that's usually enough time to get the items onto the holds shelf. |
15:27 |
jeff |
but in this case, it doesn't help prevent items at other open libraries from being targeted, captured, and put into transit to the library which is closed (to move). |
15:28 |
mmorgan |
Right, not useful for a long closure. |
15:33 |
* mmorgan |
would like to see something like an Emergency Closing Handler for holds. |
15:34 |
Dyrcona |
Looks like we set the circ.holds.target_skip_me org unit setting, suspended holds, and messed with transits when a library closed for a bit back in 2014. |
15:35 |
Dyrcona |
Also added a closed date, and set the opac visible to false. |
15:36 |
Dyrcona |
Also emailed patrons about their holds. |
15:40 |
jeff |
Of course, one option would be to have the contents of the library's hold shelf move to a different location for the duration of the closure, and have staff ship their holds to that same location, and modify the notifications to make it clear that the items are available for pickup at a temporary location if you care to drive, or will be waiting once the library re-opens... that might be biting off a bit |
15:40 |
jeff |
more complexity than folk are ready for, though. |
15:44 |
Dyrcona |
Our email informed the patron of the option to unsuspend their hold and change the pickup location. |
15:46 |
Dyrcona |
So, the 3.0.12-3.0.13 upgrade script did not get forward ported except to rel_3_0. All it does is set the version in upgrad.config_log, so we can probably just skip it. |
15:47 |
Dyrcona |
Bleh. config.upgrade_log not that mess I somehow typed. |
