07:52 Dyrcona firefox-- # It totally locks up my system.
07:52 Dyrcona And, why is my load 10 with less 25% of CPU in use?
07:53 Dyrcona Maybe I should blame kernel 4.10 instead.
07:53 csharp maybe 2.12.2a was created to address this, but installation fails because of 3e31b9f33 in 2.12.2
07:53 pinesol_green csharp: [evergreen|blake] Bumping version numbers and adding Changelog - <http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commit;h=3e31b9f>
07:54 csharp Dyrcona: I use FF on Fedora 25 (4.10.17) and haven't seen that
07:54 csharp (GNOME)
07:54 JBoyer I thought 2.12.2a was translation related, but I haven't really paid attention.
07:55 Dyrcona csharp: I'm on Ubuntu 17.04 with Unity. It happens when watching HTML5 videos on Youtube and it takes a while.
07:55 Dyrcona It could be a media plug/package, but firefox freezes.
07:55 csharp Dyrcona: huh - I'll let you know if I see anything similar
07:56 Dyrcona If I kill it, it isn't long after when everything else freezes.
07:56 Dyrcona It could just be really high load and I'm impatient, so I hit the power button.
07:56 Dyrcona I know it's not Flashplayer, 'cause I disabledit.
07:58 Dyrcona It's probably ffmpeg or something.
08:00 Dyrcona Guess I'll just shut my laptop off every night.

10:04 eVgEnthusiast Does Evergreen have  functionality to manage eBooks?
10:07 kmlussier eVgEnthusiast: What do you mean by 'manage'?
10:09 eVgEnthusiast Is Evergreen able to add eBooks to the collection and can patrons borrow them?
10:10 kmlussier Evergreen has the ability to identify which libraries own an ebook based on a subfield in the 856 and can control which results are retrieved based on that information. It has some integration with Overdrive and OneClick Digital, and will soon have the ability to borrow ebooks from the services from the catalog.
10:10 kmlussier But we don't have our own mechanism for storing and lending ebooks.
10:18 eVgEnthusiast I see. Thank you for the information, that's exactly what i was looking for. I'm trying to find a way of making some eBooks available to students with infringing copyright

11:01 berick Dyrcona: cool, yeah, seems like a clear win
11:01 Dyrcona I'm going to add a comment about the naming, but I don't expect my idea to be popular. :)
11:02 berick heh
11:04 Dyrcona Well, maybe I won't comment.
11:04 Dyrcona I was going to suggest moving the exiting view to the reporter schema, but after looking at the schema itself again, I see that is a worse idea than I originally thought. :)
11:05 berick i also thought about repurposing all_circulation, but yeah that would get complicated
11:05 berick and break reports and stuff
11:06 Dyrcona Yeah.

11:24 dbs Dyrcona: fwiw Chrome is currently running two processes at 80%+ (each) and I have a total of 3 tabs open, no media playing, nothing fancy in the tabs (email and files)
11:25 dbs bshum: ?
11:26 bshum dbs: Just hating on Microsoft for wacky updates
11:26 bshum Not connected to anything in particular, other than my laptop being unhappy
11:26 bshum And me being unhappy
11:26 bshum And me thinking about reformatting this thing to something better (again)  :D
11:27 dbs bshum: ah. I had some severe hate for them a few weeks back when the latest Win10 update added a new boot partition and severely screwed up grub2-efi booting
11:29 dbs but more hate directed at Lenovo for a bios update that made my 1TB SSD look like it was only 110GB (also screwing up booting severely)
11:29 Dyrcona dbs: I have 16 Chromium processes running most at 0% total at less than 1.0% with 9 tabs open and no media playing.
11:29 dbs maybe browsers--
11:31 Dyrcona :)
11:34 dbs oh hey one process is still running at 100% with 0 tabs open. hmm

11:50 kaffenkj Lurking--
11:50 kaffenkj In the Receipt Template Editor for billing templates, is there a macro that prints the sum total of all the fines a patron owes? Seems like I can only get individual charges.
11:53 bshum kaffenkj: I'm pretty sure there's an option for total
11:53 bshum Like %total_owed% maybe, hmm
11:55 kaffenkj Near as I can tell, %total_owed% and %balance_owed% echo the same thing, which appears to be the last billing amount in the list.
11:55 bshum https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/821640 -- there might be more macros
11:55 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 821640 in Evergreen master "Define a macro for grand total of all bills listed" [Undecided,Fix released]

12:04 kaffenkj I'm a local admin for an individual library. I presume the patch from https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/821640 is something I would need our wise and benevolent SysAdmins to implement?
12:04 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 821640 in Evergreen master "Define a macro for grand total of all bills listed" [Undecided,Fix released]
12:05 jeff kaffenkj: the "Fix released" status on the bug indicates that it's been released in a version of Evergreen.
12:05 jeff kaffenkj: looking at the "Milestone" column, it looks likt it should be available in Evergreen 2.2 and higher.
12:06 jeff Tina's comment on the bug from 2014 is probably worthy of consideration as a followup, though -- to document the three new macros in staff interfaces (and ideally documentation, if they're missing there also)
12:07 kaffenkj Ah - we're on 2.11.something. That explains it.
12:07 jeff kaffenkj: you should have those three macros available, then.
12:08 kaffenkj Right - 2.11 > 2.2. Hmm.
12:09 bshum jeff: Yeah, I didn't see anything in the docs about it.  So definitely could use a followup I guess.
12:15 kaffenkj jeff: %grand_total_owed% works perfectly! I was getting tripped up by the preview displaying the macro name instead of a dollar total.

15:10 JBoyer I'm asking because when looking at bug 1642035 it was suggested to change the uib-dropdown style to a select which worked fine, but I'm not sure I follow the reason just yet.
15:10 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1642035 in Evergreen "Web Staff Client - Problems saving notification preferences" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1642035 - Assigned to Cesar V (cesardv)
15:15 JBoyer Given that a select looks very similar but doesn't cause the size and scroll position of the <body> to bungie around I certainly prefer them.
15:17 cesardv @JBoyer I'd been meaning to tackle that bug, I hadn't had the chance yet... thanks for picking it up. Changing it to a select is def what I would have done...

15:21 JBoyer I don't think it's entirely custom, I think a lot of the uib-* stuff is from bootstrap, seems a lot of template work is necessary to use it though.

15:26 JBoyer gmcharlt, that makes some sense. I was wondering about switching over the stat cat stuff though, because if you have a lot (we have one with 200+ entries, for instance) it really messes with the page scroll position.
15:26 * kmlussier wonders if she'll every get to try yboston's cheese flan.
15:26 yboston kmlussier: we need to set something up
15:26 gmcharlt JBoyer: indeed
15:26 kmlussier JBoyer: If you're thinking of switching over stat cat stuff, there's a bug you should look at.

15:28 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1686459 in Evergreen "Webstaff: Copy editor does not require values for required stat cats" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1686459
15:28 JBoyer (And the followup I just filed re: actor stat cats that don't allow free text)
15:29 yboston kmlussier: think about a date/time and I will be ready
15:29 JBoyer I would also like a "real" combobox type of control for them, if it doesn't have a half-mile long selection list.
15:32 Dyrcona comboboxes are tricky on the web, 'cause standard JavaScript doesn't implement them.
15:32 Dyrcona and HTML doesn't define them
15:35 JBoyer I figured it would be some kind of chimera control (they technically are in Windows, at least the older style) but if there's already a bootstrap version ready to use (or our eg-basic-combo-box control) I'm ok with trying them out.
