10:24 Guest64139 Hi Everyone, I moderated the circulation interest group during the Evergreen Conference. There was a large interest in a circ interest group listserv from the group. Does anyone object to having a listserv for the circ interest group? Thanks,

10:26 ddale Hi Everyone, I moderated the circulation interest group during the Evergreen Conference. There was a large interest in a circ interest group listserv from the group. Does anyone object to having a listserv for the circ interest group? Thanks,
10:28 jeff hi, ddale! i've no strong opinion either way, but i can provide some history that you'll likely run into, as well as a question or two:
10:29 jeff 1) any reason why the open-ils-general list doesn't meet your need?
10:30 jeff 2) there was a similar post-conference desire for a "sysadmin" mailing list a few years back, which went mostly unused and eventually died completely. your situation may be different, but i'm sure the spectre of the failed sysadmin interest list will likely be raised as you continue down this path. :-)
10:33 * mmorgan would like to see more discussion of circulation issues, whether it be on the general list or a dedicated one.
10:33 ddale Thanks, Jeff! I appreciate the feedback. The general open-ils list can be cumbersome with so many tracks going at one time. Front line circ staff want to be able to communicate without wading through other conversations

10:37 jeff and another question, if you don't mind: were there any notes made available from the circ interest group meeting/discussion at the conference? i'd be interested in hearing more about what topics came up.
10:39 Jillianne joined #evergreen
10:45 * mmorgan can see both sides of this.
10:46 mmorgan I can understand why frontline circ users might be more inclined to join and participate in a list that focuses on circ issues.
10:46 mmorgan But I would be concerned that many subscribers to the general list might have valuable input, but may not choose to subscribe to the circ list.

10:51 Dyrcona I don't think we need more lists. The admin list was shut down for lack of traffic.
10:52 ddale Jeff, yes there were notes made. I emailed those to everyone that attended. I will be happy to post those here or email them to you.
10:56 Jillianne2 joined #evergreen
10:56 mmorgan ddale: Would you consider sharing the topics with the general list for the benefit of those that were not able to attend?

11:02 ddale I am trying to post the notes.
11:02 ddale i used the large pastes link at the top of the page
11:02 ddale This link should take you to it http://paste.evergreen-ils.org/82?tx=on&submit=Format+it%21
11:03 ddale Keep in mind these are the topics of discussion. Some were determined to be already resolved during discussion.

11:23 dbs At some point we should probably discuss our base level of browser support again, as I started trying to support IE9 with my dojoless rewrite and then thought "wait, really?"
11:24 bshum dbs: I thought we gave up on IE9 long ago
11:24 bshum When Microsoft did
11:24 bshum If we haven't, we really should...
11:25 * bshum pulls out this page for giggles: https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=compatible_browsers
11:25 * bshum has fond memories of Evergreen 1.6.0.4
11:25 bshum :D
11:27 dbs Well, we haven't really put a stake in the ground (or guided devs) as to what level of browser support we target :/
11:27 bshum Personally I'd expect only as good as IE11. Anything older is way out of support.
11:27 bshum ie-- # just 'cause
11:27 dbs yeah, I saw that page and laughed
11:28 dbs we also have a bit about browser support in TPAC at the bottom of https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=dev:opac:template-toolkit:todos
11:28 dbs "Internet Explorer 7 / 8 / 9", "Firefox 4 / 5"
11:31 bshum Well, Vista is dead, so IE9 should be gone too, no? :)
11:33 * bshum finds that "deprecate me" page stuff to start deleting things with
11:33 bshum Or you know what, we should just kill these pages, shouldn't we?

12:30 jonadab Pretty sure I'd rather support all versions of Mozilla back to 1.0, than try to support more than about 1 old version of IE.

15:31 bshum Hmm
15:31 bshum https://answers.launchpad.net/evergreen/+question/622549
15:31 bshum Someone went to Launchpad questions to ask about evergreen install help
15:31 bshum Based on the question, I'm not sure if they're asking for help though, vs. services
15:31 bshum I'm tempted to point at the README documentation, and then also include a link the vendor page
15:32 bshum Any other suggestions?
15:33 abneiman bshum: FWIW, appears that it's the same person who asked about this late Saturday night in IRC http://irc.evergreen-ils.org/evergreen/2017-04-15
15:34 terran_ Responding with the README and the vendor list seems like a reasonable place to start.
15:40 bshum abneiman: Aha, yeah I wondered if that was the case. Makes sense.
15:40 bshum I put some initial reply up there to point them at a few places. Guess we'll see what they actually want/need.
