bshum: one of the guys behind that Arabic push says CSS would do the trick for RTL; dunno know about automagic though |

So, tempting, even though I already have some of those in dead tree format. |

well that's just a little weird. circulation of an item (that appears to have been checked in via backdate in the staff client just prior) where the stop_fines_time = xact_start and renewal_remaining is 0 (which contradicts duration_rule). |
12:39 |
jeff |
circulation is not a renewal and has no parent_circ. |

12:40 |

jeff: claimed never checked out? |

mark missing pieces. |
12:41 |
jeff |
the item was then manually edited to make its status Available. |
12:41 |
jeff |
disclaimer: our mark missing pieces behavior may differ from stock still. |
12:42 |
jeff |
but the "manually edited to set status to Available" is the weird part here. |
12:42 |
mmorgan |
jeff: what status do missing pieces items get? |
12:43 |
jeff |
we have circ.missing_pieces.copy_status org unit setting set to a local status of 116, "Missing Pieces Shelf" |
12:44 |
jeff |
i forget without looking what the default is when that is unset. |
12:45 |

forgets, too. We use "Damaged" |

I might have just noticed something. A report template filtered on a boolean "in list". When constructing the report, it gives you the dropdown for either true or false. No matter which one you choose and click "add" you will get "True". Same for anyone else? |
13:24 |
csharp |
I usually hard-code booleans, so I haven't seen that before - also wondering about what's behind putting a boolean in a list |
13:25 |
csharp |
seems like you'd get into a schroedinger's cat situation real quick like |

csharp: it looks like the choice that you make "false" is respected in the report query but the UI shows "True" when you choose "False" from the dropdown |
13:52 |
csharp |
Bmagic: I can confirm the behavior, but I would expect it's a rare use case to put a boolean value in a list - my answer is "don't do that!" :-) |
14:03 |
Bmagic |
I used it for a "one template for all" to include or exclude deleted copies or include both deleted and non-deleted |
14:06 |
csharp |
ah - I see |
14:06 |
csharp |
well, I would use "Equals" rather than "In list" |
14:07 |
csharp |
wait - I misread |
14:07 |
Bmagic |
but then you have to choose one or the other and you can't get both (at least in one report) |
14:07 |
csharp |
gotcha |
14:07 |
Bmagic |
minor bug to be sure |
14:07 |
Bmagic |
but wierd |

since the "deleted is true" can be a mind-boggler for end users, I tend to train template-builders to hard-code "deleted = true" into their templates since it encompasses 95% of reports use cases in PINES |
14:16 |
phasefx |
deleted = false you mean? :) |
14:23 |
rhamby |
yeah, I've found(small sampling size of one person) that most reports need deleted = false |
14:23 |
csharp |
phasefx: ugh - yes! see what I mean? |
14:24 |
csharp |
well, my sample is PINES, so I'm pretty confident in my approach (once I get the boolean logic right in my head :-) ) |
14:24 |
phasefx |
csharp: might be useful to provide a view for items and users that hardcodes deleted = false |
14:24 |
phasefx |
and build reports against those |
14:24 |
csharp |
actually, that's a great idea |

when it comes to overdue items related to billing, we might need to include deleted items, which is the senario here |
15:01 |
csharp |
for a report like that, I might *not* filter on deleted but possibly display it |
