07:36 bshum Those perl errors match what Dyrcona and I were finding a few weeks ago when we were running the perl live tests through the paces on our own.

15:46 kmlussier berick: I was reading over your release notes for bug 1596595.
15:46 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1596595 in Evergreen "Hold targeter features and refactoring" [Wishlist,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1596595
15:46 kmlussier Will the new hold targeter help at all with the issue where new copies or missing copies aren't captured for a hold on checkin because they haven't been targeted yet?
15:47 kmlussier On reading it, I don't think it will, but maybe there is some combination of settings that might help.
15:52 berick kmlussier: the new code could help in a specific scenario..   where holds are un-targeted (e.g. all copies are non-holdable) and you run the targeter more frequently, using --skip-viable to avoid retargeting on-pull-list holds too often.
15:53 berick in cases where holds already have targetable copies, it won't make any difference.
15:53 kmlussier berick: OK, that's what I thought. Is it expected that the retargeting will be faster?
15:54 berick kmlussier: do you mean in general or specifically with --skip-viable?
15:54 kmlussier In general
15:54 kmlussier I think that's been part of the issue. Sometimes, staff are reluctant to use the checkin modifier to retarget holds because it times out.
15:54 berick yes, that new code as a whole is faster for me in all tested scenarios.  sometimes, a lot faster
15:55 kmlussier Oh really? That's good to hear.
15:55 berick ohh, for a single copy
15:55 kmlussier A single copy with lots of holds on it.
15:56 berick i would expect it to be faster targeting a single copy, but I did not test that explicitly.  I was mainly focused on batch targeting.
