08:44 jboyer_laptaupe Cool, cool, cool. I forgot this laptop likes to forget how the internet works several times per day. Good thing I work exclusively online... oops.

08:46 tsbere jboyer_laptaupe: Could be worse. For the last few weeks my friend's router has been forgetting that it is supposed to be routing every three hours or so, give or take 10 min.

09:07 jboyer_laptaupe tsbere, I'd rather buy a router than a laptop. ;) (Also, I've love it if this thing would go 3 hours. :,( )
09:07 jboyer_laptaupe morning kmlussier!
09:07 jboyer_laptaupe (If I'm going to remarking, may as well be sociable.)
09:08 tsbere jboyer_laptaupe: At least your laptop likely doesn't need a factory reset and reconfiguration to get working again. >_>
09:08 kmlussier jboyer_laptaupe: You're always sociable! :)
09:08 jboyer_laptaupe tsbere, ouch, that is a bit extreme.
09:09 jboyer_laptaupe It may help me though, I suspect it's because I upgraded some chipset drivers. Haven't wanted to burn a full weekend rebuilding it from factory. :/
09:10 tsbere jboyer_laptaupe: My friend has ordered parts to build himself a new router from scratch, rather than buy one off the shelf. He figures that way he might have the ability to get log info at least...
09:13 csharp DD-WRT FTW!

09:17 tsbere csharp: That works best when the router has a "replace firmware" option in the first place. He got a *really* cheap one. <_<

09:50 lualaba Hello folk
09:50 lualaba how to make visible records in opac?
09:50 lualaba evergreen=# select count(*) from biblio.record_entry;  count  -------      8 (1 row)
09:51 kmlussier lualaba: Have you added items to the records?
09:52 lualaba do you me barcodes?
09:53 lualaba i have 4 files and need to import into system (i just import 8 marc record) using mark importer
09:53 kmlussier lualaba: Yes, I mean call numbers and barcodes. You need to have items/copies on the record before they will be visible in the opac.
09:54 kmlussier But you should be able to find those records from the staff client even when they are not visible in the opac.
09:54 lualaba i can also import from file
09:55 kmlussier lualaba: Yes, you can also import the copies from a file.
09:56 lualaba my goal is to copy lybrary on other system (i have 4 files: barcodes, catalogers, biblio records) wha tis the best approach?
09:56 lualaba using staff client or directly ipdate in DB?
09:57 lualaba i have empty DB
09:58 kmlussier lualaba: If you can import that data, it will probably be the best approach. But you need more than the barcodes. Each copy also needs a call number, for example.
09:58 lualaba i have also call numbers
09:58 kmlussier The documentation I linked to earlier talks about how to get those copies in the system - http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.8/_migrating_your_call_numbers_copies_and_parts.html
09:59 kmlussier lualaba: How many records are in the files you are importing?
09:59 lualaba now is 10 (but will be 40K)
10:00 lualaba i need fisrt import biblio records and then orthers?
10:00 kmlussier For 10 records, you could also import them using the Batch Import in the staff client. For the 40k, you'll want to follow that other documentation. It's way too large to use the staff client.
10:01 csharp tsbere: ah ;-)
10:02 lualaba somewhere i can find step by step instruction with examples?

10:06 kmlussier lualaba: I would suggest trying to follow those instructions. If you follow the instructions and come across specific problems, the folks in here should be able to help you out.

10:12 dbs lualaba: the SQL files in Open-ILS/tests/datasets/sql/ are a kind of evolved version of those docs, albeit with the express purpose of populating dummy data in the database for testing purposes
10:13 dbs but if you like SQL, it might help you put the pieces together for things like electronic URIs (856 fields), parts, call number prefixes and suffixes, shelving locations, etc

11:36 kmlussier Is today definitely a point release day? Should I be working on release notes?
11:37 bshum kmlussier: Actually I was just thinking about that.
11:38 bshum And there's not a lot on my radar at the moment that requires cutting today.
11:38 * bshum checks with berick
11:39 bshum Given that I only see doc changes and maybe one bug fix
11:39 bshum I'm going to say that this might not be an urgent maintenance release.
11:39 * kmlussier didn't see a bug fix
11:39 bshum And we can wait till next month or something.
11:39 kmlussier I was just about to look at bug 1204671
11:39 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1204671 in Evergreen "Fund tags are not carried over during fund propagation" (affected: 2, heat: 18) [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1204671
11:39 bshum Or maybe save it towards when the 2.9 alpha happens end of this month.
11:40 kmlussier But I can't see creating a point release just for that bug fix.
11:40 bshum In a couple weeks
11:40 kmlussier I also wanted to make larger changes to the point release notes because I still think the acknowledgements are a bit confusing. If I had a little bit of time to work on that, I wouldn't complain. :)
11:40 bshum https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1465830 was pushed to master, etc. but dbwells set the status back to Confirmed/High because of some issue he saw?
11:40 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1465830 in Evergreen 2.7 "presence of relator terms or codes in $e or $4 can prevent authority headings linking" (affected: 3, heat: 16) [High,Confirmed]
11:40 bshum http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commit;h=a0ada5bf53c1bb3abe7dfcc11029d380f075d0ec
11:40 pinesol_green [evergreen|Yamil Suarez] LP#1465830: authority linker now ignores $e and $4 in bib name headings - <http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commit;h=a0ada5b>
11:41 berick yeah, i see the same, single bug fix in 2.8: LP#1465830: authority linker now ignores $e and $4 in bib name headings
11:42 bshum I'm fine with delaying the maintenance cuts this round.
11:42 bshum Gives us more time to clear the backlog :(
11:42 kmlussier It looks like that bug should probably be resolved in some fashion before a release is cut.
11:45 kmlussier Speaking of clearing out the backlog, it looks like we have some signedoff tags for code that hasn't been merged yet. I don't know how many are bug fixes.

13:56 gsams I'm having a day...  Colo center had massive power outage about 7 hours ago, consortium servers are still down...
13:56 kmlussier Heh. So I just tried the "find" command that's mentioned in the "Before you contribute" section of http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=contributing so that I could update the number of lines of code we have in Evergreen.
13:56 kmlussier Looks like we've gone down since then. I got 873,998.

14:08 * bshum shrugs
14:09 * bshum likes the openhub stat trend
14:09 bshum Where JS lines went down April to May
14:09 bshum Likely because we killed off the scripts :D
14:11 * bshum wonders how much will go away when we remove selfcheck and jspac code
14:11 jeff just out of curiosity, what command are you two running?
14:11 bshum jeff: kmlussier was working off the http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=contributing page
14:12 kmlussier find . -name “*[.pm|.pl|*.py|*.c|*.h|*.sql|*.js|*.xml|*.css|*.html|*.xhtml|*.ac|*.am|*.tt2|*.xul]” -exec cat {} \; | wc -l
14:12 bshum The "find" command embedded there in the "Before you contribute" section
14:12 kmlussier I was making some other updates to the page and decided to give it an overall re-read.
14:12 bshum I wondered if it was grabbing more than it should based on stuff in git
14:13 jeff yeah, i don't have faith in that command as written.
14:13 bshum Kind of how I felt when I read it.
14:13 bshum But I ran it anyways.

14:15 bshum http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4822471/count-number-of-lines-in-a-git-repository
14:15 kmlussier Should I just go with the openhub number then? I think the idea is to give potential contributors some sense of the scale of the project.
14:15 bshum Which I get 1887517 lines then
14:15 bshum :P
14:16 tsbere git ls-files | grep '^.*\.\(pm\|pl\|py\|c\|h\|sql\|xml\|css\|html\|xhtml\|ac\|am\|tt2\|xul\)$' | xargs cat | wc -l
14:16 bshum With tsbere's I get 537499 (which is closer to the ohloh number)

14:18 kmlussier I get 1887866 with git ls-files | xargs cat | wc -l . bshum and I are very close on that one.
14:18 kmlussier And 537844 with tsbere's
14:19 * kmlussier flips a coin.
14:19 bshum You're on master right?  Not any other branch or checkout?
14:19 tsbere A more "exclude" variant: git ls-files | grep -iv '^.*\.\(po\|jpg\|png\|exe\)$' | xargs cat | wc -l
14:19 tsbere Hmmm. We have gifs too, don't we
14:20 jeff yeah. we have jpg, JPG, png, PNG, gif, svg...
14:20 bshum And ico
14:20 tsbere Well, the i part of the -iv is "case insensitive", I believe
14:20 tsbere so we don't have to worry about the case diffs there ;)
14:21 jeff also js, which the original "find" command included but tsbere's first ls-files did not
14:21 tsbere What about the .java files?
14:21 jeff i think we might be focusing on the wrong thing here. :-)
14:22 bshum Hehe
14:22 kmlussier yeah
14:22 * tsbere prefers "exclude the ones we don't want" because of this instead of "include the ones we do want"
14:22 * kmlussier prefers going with the openhub numbers. :)

14:26 jeff i'm not sure that we need to state a given number of lines for this purpose.
14:27 jeff if we did, there are lots of tools that can help us come up with a reasonable number, including the one that openhub itself uses: https://github.com/blackducksw/ohcount
14:27 gsams kmlussier++ #Sounds like the easy option to me!

14:31 jeff "must learn what to touch and what not to touch" jumps out as... something, i'm not sure what.
