08:46 jeff dbs++ and fwiw, the Udemy android app does claim "- You can watch your course offline: Save courses for offline viewing so you can watch them while you're on a plane or subway!"
08:46 jeff though I fail to see why the app needs `` Allows the app to view one or more of: information about activity on the device, which apps are running, browsing history and bookmarks'' and `` Uses the device's location'' permissions.

08:48 kmlussier Good morning #evergreen. Happy conference week!
08:50 Stompro Good morning, trying to remember to set my OOF message and VM message today.

08:57 bshum Our phone system is evil and hates me.
08:57 bshum Or I'm just reeeeeeally bad at using our phones.
09:06 tsbere bshum: Your phone system hates you *because* you are bad at using the phones! ;)
09:07 bshum tsbere: That must be it.

09:44 kmlussier Huh...:employed by an institution that is contributing to the project by virtue of running Evergreen.' I've always thought that people working in eg libs could vote, but technically they are not employed by an institution *running* Evergreen.
09:46 * kmlussier missed the original discussion on who could vote in the community and has managed to somehow avoid it for her 3 years on the Board.
09:52 tsbere kmlussier: I think you could argue that the library is part of the institution running Evergreen in a county system. Massachusetts libraries work the wrong way for that argument. ;)
09:52 kmlussier Well, there are many different types of consortia in the community. I don't think you could say Massachusetts is unique in that respect.

09:59 tsbere kmlussier: I was using "what I know" as an example. Obviously it isn't going to be the only example.
10:09 dbwells kmlussier: The wording could be more precise, but I don't think it was meant to exclude the folks you are talking about. I think it is trying to include anyone who has a legitimate stake in Evergreen, and people who use it daily should qualify, in my opinion.
10:11 kmlussier dbwells: Yes, I agree. I guess I would just like to see more precise language since most of the people on the current Board weren't part of or following along with those early discussions and may not know the intent.
10:11 kmlussier But I guess that's for the new Board to work on if they feel it's necessary. :)

10:54 gmcharlt kmlussier: FWIW, my memory of the intent is that it was, in effect, using "running" in the sense of "operating an Evergreen installation and/or using it as the institution's production ILS"
10:56 kmlussier gmcharlt: Thanks! It occurred to me later that I probably was misinterpreting what was meant by "running."
10:56 gmcharlt "running" in the sense of "turning the crank, and/or providing a crank that can be turned"
10:56 kmlussier Technically, MassLNC doesn't run or even use a production Evergreen system, but I guess I cover myself with contributions. :)
10:57 gmcharlt heh, I suppose you do at that ;)

13:41 tsbere Less than fun: Try and setup a new server and the raid consisting of 500GB drives reports, once made, a max partitionable space of <100MB :(
13:51 bmills joined #evergreen
13:57 bshum tsbere: That sounds unfriendly.
13:58 tsbere I think the problem was an out of date partition table. As the amount partitionable was basically the same size as the "you need to load an OS!" bootloader partition on the first of the drives.

15:24 berick let me know if anyone has anything to add to the state of evergreen development section of the thursday morning state of evergreen update

16:05 berick if I adopt a nice slow southern accent
16:11 berick hm, there's also a developer update and web client update saturday.
16:12 berick well, i'll just keep it short and sweet
16:14 berick c'mon people http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=dev:hackfest:eg2015
16:38 kmlussier berick: I don't know what you planned to do for committer stats, but I always like to see the names of the new code contributors.
16:39 berick kmlussier: ok, good to know

16:48 Stompro It looks like Debian Jessie includes libtemplate-plugin-posix-perl, so maybe it no longer needs to be built via CPAN.

16:57 Stompro csharp, I would like to help with the debian packaging work, I saw you added that to the dev hackfest page of proposals.
16:57 csharp Stompro++ # awesome! I'm excited to hear that
16:58 Stompro It looks like there are only 3 cpan modules left, Business::OnlinePayment::Paypal, Business::Stripe and Class::DBI::Frozen::301... I've been reading up on debian perl packaging, I wonder if packaging needed bugs have been filed for those 3 yet?
16:58 csharp Stompro: I'm in the process of cleaning up our internal deb-building scripts (which are not Debian-standards-compliant) and making them more generic
16:59 berick kmlussier: interesting.. ok. i'll check the recent additions
17:00 Stompro Oh, and the libemail-send-perl which needs to get replaced... it is no longer available in Jessie.
17:01 Stompro I'm guessing that to have a chance at having an official evergreen debian package that all the dependancies would need to be packaged also.
17:02 csharp Stompro: doesn't looke like they are sponsored yet, but there may be another source of information I don't know about: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=sponsorship-requests;dist=unstable
17:03 csharp Stompro: I'd love to compare notes on the perl packaging process - I've just been using dh-make-perl
17:03 csharp Stompro: this is where I've been working most recently: http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=contrib/pines/eg-debian.git;a=summary
17:04 csharp http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=contrib/pines/eg-debian.git;a=blob;f=README;h=e88d013fce09eb8ff13cac70f781ef82e8f0e0d8;hb=HEAD is the README
17:05 berick kmlussier: the last three additions (suzanne paterno, michele morgan, and terran) all had commits in 2.7
17:06 Stompro csharp, Oh, I don't know very much at this point, I was just doing some googling and saw some general steps for how to start the process at http://pkg-perl.alioth.debian.org/howto/RFP.html
17:06 berick looking at.. http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=contributing:contributors&do=revisions
17:06 kmlussier berick: Ah, ok. I was thinking the highlights would be for new contributors since the last conference. :)
17:06 berick kmlussier: oh, well, i hadn't thought of that
17:06 Stompro csharp, so I don't have many notes to compare.
17:06 berick kmlussier: i like that better :)

17:07 berick er, too

17:07 kmlussier berick: Side benefit is it takes up more of the four minutes. :)
17:08 berick exactly!
17:08 csharp Stompro: this is where I got started (also using examples from Josh and Andy's work for the PINES-specific debs for GenaSYS (http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=contrib/pines/genasys.git;a=summary)): https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/index.en.html

17:14 berick kmlussier: interestingly.. this is the list of authors whose first commit occured after the 2014 conference: http://pastie.org/private/ftlixti2ejnep97ukzn1g
17:14 berick kmlussier: curious if that seem reasonable to you
17:15 berick (or anyone else)
17:15 berick spot-checked a few and they seem to check out
17:15 kmlussier I suspect some of those are doc commits. I don't know if that makes a difference.
17:16 berick probably
17:16 kmlussier Heh, Hekman Library Technology Team
17:17 kmlussier berick: I guess it depends on how you want to handle it. If you wanted to focus on strictly code commits, I would be happy to higlight doc contributions during my piece. Or you could take them all. :)
17:17 kmlussier Wait, what is my piece supposed to be focused on again?
17:18 kmlussier Outreach and initiatives. hmmmm
17:19 berick kmlussier: i'd prefer to list them all, but not if I'm taking away from your part
17:19 kmlussier berick: That sounds fine to me. I've got plenty I can talk about.
17:20 berick cool
17:21 Stompro Night all, Looking forward to the conference, my flight is at 6am tomorrow morning, I should go pack.
