09:19 eeevil 1) hop in car 2) drive south... ;)
09:20 eeevil I'll make sure we update here once we get to the location. Still at the hotel
09:26 kmlussier eeevil: Thanks!

10:14 kmlussier RoganH: do I have to download something to get ready?
10:16 jeff recent version of firefox or chrome is all, iirc.
10:17 jeff kmlussier: i'll send you a link to test.
10:17 kmlussier Thanks!
10:18 jeff sent.
10:19 kmlussier Ugh. Not supported in Firefox. I'll try it in Chrome, but I've had an ongoing problem where I rarely get sound in Chrome that I never had a chance to investigate/fix.
10:19 jeff doh.
10:19 jeff yeah, i just tried in firefox and realized that it's Chrome/Chromium/Opera only (at least on this platform)
10:21 csharp kmlussier: jeff: https://jitsi.org/Main/Download#stableline - there are clients for different platforms
10:22 jeff csharp: do those work with the WebRTC/whatever version at meet.jit.si?
10:22 csharp jeff: dunno yet - I was just setting up my client
10:23 jeff having two laptops running meet.jit.si in the same session is interesting.
10:23 jeff it's got a little bit of the "creepy scifi movie where the person in the mirror isn't a reflection"
10:23 RoganH https://meet.jit.si/ShallSpellKey
10:24 jeff whichever laptop i look at, i see myself, then i see myself quickly look away
10:25 kmlussier Looks like the Windows installer is 32-bit. Not sure if that's going to cause a problem
10:28 kmlussier Yay! I've got sound in Chrome. I'm good.
10:29 jeff amusing. i forgot that many apps reverse the video -- thus, my writing was backward.

10:31 RoganH We're still playing with everyone making sure their wifi and everything is working but I was thinking that we should spend a bit of time going over what was written on the wiki and what people wanted to accomplish this week in terms of work and discussion.

10:54 kmlussier it's easier to talk in here than in our remote thing. I saw something on the wiki agenda regarding negative balances, but didn't hear it mentined during the intros.
10:54 kmlussier Is that because the Calvin College folks aren't at the in-person hack-a-way?

10:56 berick i assume they added that
10:56 kmlussier berick: Thanks!
10:57 kmlussier lost my sound. :(
10:57 jeff with the added BTUs of my laptop doing video, it's almost as if I'm significantly further from the 45th parallel than i actually am!
10:57 jeff kmlussier: i think rogan disconnected, and i'm muted. so it might not be you.
10:57 kmlussier ah, ok then.

11:01 RoganH jit.si is now setup on a laptop withe big screen and an external mic so hopefully that will work better than individual screens
11:01 kmlussier So should I be hearing something at this point?
11:01 kmlussier Ah, there you are.
11:02 berick kmlussier: you heard my snapping?

11:02 berick kmlussier: what about our voices?
11:02 kmlussier Sorry, I took my headphones off. Can you talk again?
11:02 kmlussier Yup
11:02 kmlussier mmorgan still can't connect, though. :(
11:03 mmorgan feel like I'm not in the right place :-(
11:03 kmlussier What are you all looking at?
11:04 mmorgan In chrome, followed the link, looking at a black screen. Can't allow access.
11:04 jeff you are all of you very pixelated. :-)

11:08 Bmagic If I have an action trigger setup processing delay at  '-1 days' without grainularity, then our 4am cron job will fire the email alerting patrons that their holds will expire soon who have an expiration time of the whole next day? 11:20 kmlussier mmorgan continues to have an x over her camera in the Chrome address bar, even though she had told Chrome to allow access on a permanent basis. I suspect it's part of the problem because I couldn't see anything until I had allowed access.
11:20 csharp ah
11:21 * dbs is a fan of meet.jit.si but debugging connectivity problems hopefully isn't derailing the in-person attendees from actually hacking-a-way

11:35 berick not right this second, but..
11:36 berick for now, we're breaking for lunch
11:36 kmlussier I don't know if G hangout would help much with the audio. There are sounds coming through, I think it's just difficult for a mic to pick up small group discussion. But it's worth a shot.

15:18 jboyer-laptaupe So do we. I'll just try to refresh it real quick to see if that makes a difference. If not I'll let it be.
15:29 jeff hrm. do we have an open ticket for improving "patron updates phone number with staff, but all outstanding holds retain old number", etc?
15:29 jeff i can think of a few approaches...
15:30 kmlussier I don't recall an existing LP bug, but I have thoughts on that too.
15:30 kmlussier Mainly, a prompt that appears when updating a patron phone number asking if you should update the number on all existing holds.
15:31 jeff i'm also interested in moving away from per-hold notification options...
15:32 jeff or at least making the decision (by either patron or policy) to not have per-hold notification options easier.

15:33 csharp remingtron_: welcome
15:33 jeff "how do you want to be notified of holds?" and all new holds default to "use my default" (without getting a COPY of those defaults at the time the hold was placed)... and optionally (probably by policy here) the ability to make notification options for a specific hold be overridden.
15:33 kmlussier jeff: I had always thought of per-hold notification options as being a nice feature for those times when, for example, your pickup location is closer to your office than your home. Or maybe when it's a book you really, really want to see, so you opt for SMS where you normally would opt for e-mail.
15:33 kmlussier But I don't know how many times that happens in reality.

17:21 dbs MrMayor: quite possibly a horrible report that does something like "give me all items linked to these call numbers linked to these records linked to these call numbers linked to these items'?
17:22 MrMayor No this report ran flawlessly (sorta) for quite some time until recently. The report gunked up the same day someone filled the dbserver to 100% busting with new marc records
17:23 MrMayor Make sure jabber is accepting connections? You never know when you have a weird permissions problem somewhere.
17:23 jeff whargrove: my usual method of running ejabberd in an environment where the hostname changes frequently is this: stop ejabberd (easy if you're already in a situation where it can't start)...
17:25 jeff 2) edit /etc/default/ejabberd (assuming ubuntu/debian here) to set ERLANG_NODE=ejabberd@localhost
17:26 whargrove jeff: yes, using ubuntu 12.04
17:27 jeff 3) nuke the entire contents of /var/lib/ejabberd including /var/lib/ejabberd/.erlang.cookie
17:27 jeff 4) start ejabberd, re-add your four required users
17:27 jeff now your ejabberd will survive hostname changes
17:28 whargrove :D I appreciate the help
17:28 whargrove jeff: I will give that a shot and report back
17:28 jeff because when not explicitly speficied, ERLANG_NODE defaults to ejabberd@$HOSTNAME and that will of course change between reboots
17:28 jeff whargrove: good luck!
17:28 whargrove Right, makes perfect sense
17:28 jeff whargrove: let me know how it works, and i'll see about getting that written up somewhere (possibly for others to critique the approach, also)

18:16 whargrove jeff: your directions worked
18:17 whargrove however, now I can't login with the staff client using my admin user ...
18:18 whargrove is there a way to reset the default hostname for the server?
18:18 whargrove The staff client seems to be using the old host name
18:19 whargrove I *can* login as an admin from the website though, so I know my user name and credentials are OK
18:29 whargrove I removed the staff client preferences and the issue persists
