"how do you want to be notified of holds?" and all new holds default to "use my default" (without getting a COPY of those defaults at the time the hold was placed)... and optionally (probably by policy here) the ability to make notification options for a specific hold be overridden. |
15:33 |

jeff: I had always thought of per-hold notification options as being a nice feature for those times when, for example, your pickup location is closer to your office than your home. So has anyone else had a problem with reports just not completing? We have one report we run daily and after restarting the reporter it just pretends to run the report but does nothing until we kill it. Anyone else experienced this? |
17:18 |
whargrove |
Hi all, I'm having trouble restarting my evergreen server that I set up a few weeks ago on AWS. |
17:18 |
whargrove |
I get to step 5 in the troubleshooting guide ... but I can't start the OpenSRF router |
17:20 |
|
mmorgan left #evergreen |

I get this exception: Exception: OpenSRF::EX::Jabber 2014-09-24T21:19:53 OpenSRF::Transport::SlimJabber::Client /usr/local/share/perl/5.14.2/OpenSRF/Transport/SlimJabber/Client.pm:155 Jabber Exception: Could not open TCP socket to Jabber server: IO::Socket::INET: connect: Connection refused |
17:20 |
dbs |
ejabberd is probably angry that your IP address changed |
17:21 |
whargrove |
dbs: that's what I'm thinking as well, but I can't figure out how to make ejabberd play nice with my new IP |
17:21 |
dbs |
MrMayor: quite possibly a horrible report that does something like "give me all items linked to these call numbers linked to these records linked to these call numbers linked to these items'? |
17:22 |
MrMayor |
No this report ran flawlessly (sorta) for quite some time until recently. The report gunked up the same day someone filled the dbserver to 100% busting with new marc records |
17:23 |
MrMayor |
Make sure jabber is accepting connections? You never know when you have a weird permissions problem somewhere. |
17:23 |
jeff |
whargrove: my usual method of running ejabberd in an environment where the hostname changes frequently is this: stop ejabberd (easy if you're already in a situation where it can't start)... |
17:25 |
jeff |
2) edit /etc/default/ejabberd (assuming ubuntu/debian here) to set ERLANG_NODE=ejabberdlocalhost |
17:26 |
whargrove |
jeff: yes, using ubuntu 12.04 |
17:27 |
jeff |
3) nuke the entire contents of /var/lib/ejabberd including /var/lib/ejabberd/.erlang.cookie |
17:27 |
jeff |
4) start ejabberd, re-add your four required users |
17:27 |
jeff |
now your ejabberd will survive hostname changes |
17:28 |
whargrove |
:D I appreciate the help |
17:28 |
whargrove |
jeff: I will give that a shot and report back |
17:28 |
jeff |
because when not explicitly speficied, ERLANG_NODE defaults to ejabberd@$HOSTNAME and that will of course change between reboots |
17:28 |
jeff |
whargrove: good luck! |
17:28 |
whargrove |
Right, makes perfect sense |
17:28 |
jeff |
whargrove: let me know how it works, and i'll see about getting that written up somewhere (possibly for others to critique the approach, also) |

however, now I can't login with the staff client using my admin user ... |
18:18 |
whargrove |
is there a way to reset the default hostname for the server? |
18:18 |
whargrove |
The staff client seems to be using the old host name |
18:19 |
whargrove |
I *can* login as an admin from the website though, so I know my user name and credentials are OK |
18:29 |

I removed the staff client preferences and the issue persists |
