anyone here using address alerts? |
09:50 |
csharp |
I'm seeking documentation to how/why they are used |
09:53 |
bshum |
If memory serves, I believe those are used for validating address data. Basically warn if it matches a particular set of criteria. |
09:54 |
bshum |
Something like, if the town matches A, then show alert about how A is no longer a member and that actually it's now covered by town B. Or other random messages. |
09:55 |
bshum |
Or like if you're in a particular zip code and there needs to be an alert of some kind. |
09:57 |
bshum |
Or maybe I'm just making that up and that's not the feature you're talking about at all... |
09:58 |
bshum |
Oh yeah, Address Alert, like in local admin? |
09:58 |
bshum |
csharp: That's a 2.2 feature: http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.2/_new_features.html |
09:58 |
bshum |
I think that's the only place it gets a mention |
10:00 |
bshum |
csharp: Also see notes in the original bug ticket on that feature: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/898248 |

berick gives a few examples of how to use it. |
10:04 |

Wait, no. |
10:06 |
jboyer-isl |
Oops. wrong window. |
10:11 |
bshum |
berick: The only thing I'm unsure is whether this feature still works in 2.3+. With those, the comments portion of the registration window don't always display properly. (thinking of the field documentation bits that don't work right now) |
10:11 |
bshum |
I'd have to look closer to see how it renders. |

bshum: oh, i see, i wasn't aware stuff was busted in there. |
10:13 |
bshum |
berick: We used to use field docs, but after our upgrade to newer masters (around 2.3's time), it stopped working. |
10:13 |
bshum |
Nobody missed it enough to really complain yet though. |
10:13 |
bshum |
Plus there's the new YAOUS to show examples next to all the stuff we used to use field docs for showing examples for. |
10:14 |
bshum |
But yeah, I'm not entirely sure the CSS renders right for the comments anymore. |
10:14 |
* bshum |
hasn't tested it lately |
10:18 |
bshum |
if I get a moment later, I'll poke at it some and file a bug if I still see issues. |

Fun: Staff client fails to validate server. Computer next to it is fine. Internet works. Etc and so forth. |

Reason? The clock was wrong on the computer. >_> |

jboyer-isl: Wouldn't have been a problem if our cert wasn't a couple weeks away from expiring. >_> |
10:59 |
jboyer-isl |
Oh. I've not heard of machines failing because they're from the future. I usually see that once the clock battery dies. "This cert isn't valid for 20 years! I'm not talking to them." |
11:02 |
csharp |
heh |
11:03 |
csharp |
I remember a patron who called us complaining that all of his holds were being cancelled right after he placed them |
11:03 |
csharp |
it was because his clock was over a year off and all the entered expire dates were in the past |
11:04 |
csharp |
(took a while to track that down) |
11:05 |
jboyer-isl |
You mess with the timestream, you get the timehorns. |
11:05 |

unrelated to that issue, but when I'd call the guy, he'd pick up the phone and not say anything, then I'd hear a *splat* and he'd say "you caught me brushing my teeth!" |

is there anyone in here who could give me some info/answer questions about FulfILLment? |
13:30 |
bshum |
rfrasur: There might be a few folks who know a thing or two |
13:30 |
bshum |
There's also a #fulfillment IRC channel, but it's pretty quiet over there |
13:30 |
rfrasur |
also, jboyer-isl: is that nice little notifications button not on the splash screen yet? |
13:30 |
rfrasur |
bshum: do you know who I should ping? |
13:30 |
berick |
rfrasur: probably best to ask here |
13:31 |
bshum |
It's logged in both places |
13:31 |
rfrasur |
okay...my question is, is it supposed to be a union catalog? and does it include some of the eg functionality or is it completely independent code? (is there such a thing?) |
13:32 |
berick |
rfrasur: it is supposed to be a union catalog and it's basically Evergreen w/ some additions and changes |
13:32 |
jboyer-isl |
rfrausr: I didn't realize what I was getting into. I thought the notices would be laid out similar to my reconciler (1 sys = 1 directory). I was crazy wrong. There are some systems that have a single directory, some that have one for each location, I think I saw one that had both. That's got to be cleaned up before I can stick it in the client. :( |
13:33 |
rfrasur |
jboyer-isl: no worries. I just noticed it not there as I was looking at the new screen. It's cool. |
13:34 |
rfrasur |
berick: is it still in development? dead in the water (is code ever dead?)? a pipe dream? |
13:35 |
berick |
rfrasur: it's still in development. graced and I have submitted an EG talk proposal on FF |
13:35 |

rfrasur: but it works and we're making it pretty now... |
13:37 |

okay...thank you. It came up in a meeting I was in this morning and realized that I don't know enough about it. |
13:37 |
graced |
rfrasur: feel free to email me for any details - or ask here, whichever. :-) |
13:38 |
rfrasur |
graced: thank you. As these conversations come up more locally, I'm sure I'll have more questions. I get the basic gist of the thing for now. |

13:42 |

berick: you've submitted a talk for the conference? |
13:43 |

gmcharlt: http://evergreen-ils.org/sfc/ does exist, but we don't link to it on any menu I can find at the moment. I think the reason is that I was still wrestling with fixing the image size and figuring out how to present all the information... |
14:33 |
gmcharlt |
bshum: I suggesting removing the Google checkout link and adding it to the menu soonish |
14:33 |
gmcharlt |
we can always fine-tune it later |
14:34 |

gmcharlt: Sounds like a good plan. I'll go poke at the page now and then get the link up there. Fine-tuning it can go onto the next web team meeting agenda (not that I know when the next meeting is) |

I'm beginning to look at the link checker and am looking for sane defaults for the four related library settings |
14:39 |

if you're using this, would you mind sharing your settings? |
14:40 |
