Regarding psql & passwords: i use .pgpass (https://www.postgresql.org/docs/18/libpq-pgpass.html) and .pgservice.conf (https://www.postgresql.org/docs/18/libpq-pgservice.html) files to handle that. |

Also in Bmagic's early example the 'su -' is redundant depending on your sudo configuration. If you let the opensrf or other user sudo as anyone, then `sudo -u postgres psql ...` works. |

I usually do "sudo -i" and use suspend/fg to move back and forth between root and opensrf |

csharp_: On some machines where I use tmux/screen. I'll have a window with `sudo -u opensrf -i` and another with `sudo -u root -i` depending on what user I login as. Then I can just switch windows. |
