I have had a report that the background import feature (https://docs.evergreen-ils.org/docs/latest/cataloging/batch_importing_MARC.html#background_import) isn't working on our 3.15 test system. |
| 10:32 |
Dyrcona |
"[T]he load never completes and no queue is created if the option is selected." The user has the necessary permissions to use the feature. |
| 10:35 |
Dyrcona |
"A server side batch job will periodically check for background import requests." Is that ingest_ctl? |
| 10:36 |

Must be background_import_manager.pl. |
| 10:43 |
Dyrcona |
Run that and nothing seems to happen. Is there documentation about how to run background_import_manager.pl. |

I merged a patch this weekend and I think I broke main. It's complaining about package.json and package-lock.json not being in sync |
| 10:48 |
Bmagic |
this commit https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commit;h=ca479383ce31bf7b812ecad0de91c52b99fc7377 is probably where it started |
| 10:55 |

Bmagic: I think package-lock.json should be automatically updated if you rum npm install. Maybe I'm wrong. |
| 10:55 |
Dyrcona |
Also background_import_mgr.pl seems to find our 1 "new" import, but then nothing seems to happen. |
| 10:57 |
Bmagic |
npm ci is the current install instruction. Maybe npm install is still needed? If only to fix the lock file? |
| 11:07 |
Dyrcona |
Bmagic: It shouldn't be needed normally. It might fix this problem. I think ci should be OK as long as package-lock.json is commited whenever package.json is changed. |
| 11:20 |
Bmagic |
confirmed: npm install is needed to generate the updated lock file, then npm ci succeeds. I'll commit the lock file on main and back |

On my background_import_mgr thing: It seems to find the new job, but doesn't got any farther. |
| 11:32 |
Dyrcona |
Is there a way I can check if the multisession->new succeeded? |

OK. I see it's failing on line 262. It's a bib import, and the queue is null, selected_queue and new_queue_name are not set in the parameters. However, queue_name is set and existing_queue is null. |

Dyrcona++ # I was grepping the repo for that script seeing where it was mentioned |
| 11:51 |

Dyrcona: I know this doesn't help, but I did find the release notes on the script https://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/release/RELEASE_NOTES_3_13.html#_acquisitions_6 |

Bmagic: Thanks! I just updated the crontab for opensrf on dev to run it every minute. We'll see if we can fix the import to get it working. The person who was testing last week is out today. |
| 11:55 |
Dyrcona |
My suspicion is that the wrong import type was selected. I think this is supposed to be an acq import. |

Anyone ever found names in the database with HTML entities in them? Example: O'CONNOR |
| 13:23 |
Dyrcona |
That's supposed to be O'CONNOR. |
| 13:24 |
Dyrcona |
We only have a handful and suspect that they came in through e-card registration. I'm looking at doing a database update and just wondered if anyone else has seen this. |
| 13:28 |
Dyrcona |
I was considering using a function to convert HTML entities, but looks like my sample has only the apostrophe. |
| 13:36 |
Dyrcona |
Production has 40 and they are all apostrophes, so I guess it will be simple enough. |
