abneiman has bugs. |
| 11:42 |

pinesol: leave abneiman alone! |

csharp_: well, that's what you get for not being a shell script |

berick: osrf_control -l --reset-message-bus is suppose to reset the authentication passwords for redis, is it not? Bascially taking whatevers in redis-accounts.txt and forcing them on top of the redis service? |
| 16:04 |
Bmagic |
in other words: I could edit the passwords in the text file, and they would become reality? |
| 16:05 |
berick |
Bmagic: yes, but they have to match opensrf_core.xml for full functionality with eg |

I have them lined up but the reset spits out a wall of "NOAUTH Authentication required" |
| 16:06 |
berick |
it could mean theres a mismatch with the default users password. restart redis-server would fix that |
| 16:08 |
Bmagic |
ah, I think I was fooled into thinking it was restarting |
| 16:08 |
Bmagic |
ps aux|grep redis reveals otherwise. Probably needs a good ol' kill -9 |
| 16:09 |
Bmagic |
and that was it. Thanks! |

Hello, I'm stuck on ejabberd |
| 19:20 |
Lorne |
Hello andydude, what are you doing? Are you installing Evergreen for the first time? |
| 19:20 |
andydude |
Yes |
| 19:21 |
andydude |
I followed the instructions |
| 19:21 |
Lorne |
If you are going by the Evergreen docs site - there is an easier way with Ansible |
| 19:21 |
Lorne |
Let me grab my script |
| 19:21 |
andydude |
I did ejabberdctl register USER HOST PASS for all the stuff in opensrf_core.xml |
| 19:22 |
andydude |
and verified that all of the accounts work with Pidgin and ejabberctl check_password |
| 19:22 |
andydude |
but settings-tester.pl always says it can't connect |
| 19:22 |
andydude |
is Perl stupid or something |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
I tried to work thru the "long way" too and had same issues as you. Please try these Bash lines: |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
#! /bin/bash |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
echo "This script installs Evergreen ILS." |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
apt-get install software-properties-common -y |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
apt-get update -y |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
apt-get install git ansible -y |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
git clone --branch ubuntu-24.04 https://github.com/berick/evergreen-ansible-installer.git |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
cd evergreen-ansible-installer |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
sudo ansible-playbook playbook.yml |
| 19:23 |
Lorne |
exit |
| 19:24 |
Lorne |
I just run it as a script and it installs. Works on IBM Cloud & Microsoft Azure. I did have issues w AWS though. |
| 19:24 |
andydude |
This is on ubuntu-24 bare metal |
| 19:24 |
Lorne |
That should work well |
| 19:25 |
andydude |
Thanks! |
| 19:25 |
Lorne |
You're very welcome, let us know how you get on |

I tried the ansible and it says "Setup redis-accounts config file" ... "/openils/conf/redis-accounts.txt.example not found" |
| 19:45 |
Lorne |
Are you trying it overtop your "old" install? I recommend to start fresh |
| 19:46 |
andydude |
Ah ok |
| 19:47 |
Lorne |
The components are very fussy about file paths. if anything is off, the whole thing breaks and it's very hard to go back and fix. |
| 20:18 |
andydude |
Um, I touched redis-accounts.txt.example and now it failed at "Apply EG DB Schema" |
| 20:19 |
andydude |
Do I need to nuke the postgres config |
| 20:33 |
andydude |
So I nuked postgres, and now I'm getting "Starting services" ... "Could not authenticate with Jabber server" which was my original error, actually |
| 20:47 |
Lorne |
You're best to start with brand new OS, never been touched. |
| 20:48 |
Lorne |
once these dependencies are installed, it's hard to go back if anything is off somewhere. |

I think there is something going on with some editions/flavours of Ubuntu. When using the Ansible script to install Evergreen, AWS hangs at TASK [Install Evergreen Prereqs] whereas Azure installs fine with the same script all the way to the end. But it looks like both are Ubuntu 24.04 LTS? |
