so, has anyone found an online redis command reference for version 6, instead of "latest"? AFAICT, it does not exist, so how the hell are we suppose to know what does and does not work on the version that debian et al ships? |

eeevil: hm, good question, i see the individual commands will indicate the supported version, but unsure if there's a general version-specific list |

but they don't say anything about options. for instance, the NOMKSTREAM option to XADD blows up on v6, but there's not indication of that. just "streams started in v5" |

and there's no back-version docs that I can find. go to redis.io/docs/ and it redirects to docs/latest/ |

but ... nothing /other/ than latest seems to exist |

so ... it's as super fun guessing game! WHEEEEEEE |

eeevil: sounded familiar.. NOMKSTREAM seems to have worked w/ my old stream experiements. https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/OpenSRF.git;a=commitdiff;h=a0aeb95580454aeec05c0961d617ee23bb9a76dd |

alas, v6.0.16 does not like it |

not the end of the world, but man, it'd be so cool if they said "this became available in version X" |

but, I have some "magic" redis user + acl commands for osrf_control. there's "use opensrf_core.xml and tell redis about it now" dance, a new "I gave redis an acl file, nevery you mind" option, the existing "external duplicate static accounts file" way, and a "hand the info from opensrf_core to a tt2, and use the output as a generated accounts file" flavor |

that's secondary to the stream stuff, but that first option makes redis transparent to the admin if you set the requirepass setting in the redis config and set REDISCLI_AUTH. |

the stream stuff is necessary for HA -- otherwise there's no way to know if messages are actually delivered. lists are a black hole :( |
