13:40 eby https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1061254/
13:43 jihpringle we upgraded to 3.14.4(ish) over the weekend and we've got a really strange bug happening - a few libraries are reporting that Evergreen is transparent.  Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?
13:43 jihpringle For example, if you have a pop-up you can see the interface behind the pop up and most of the green (like for menus) is just not there
13:44 redavis sleary, this reminds me of something from IANT.
13:45 jihpringle we've had libraries clear their cache, cookies, the offline database, reset settings, check for console errors, update Chrome, and so far nothing has worked
13:51 jihpringle1 joined #evergreen
13:52 redavis Are the interfaces affected consistent?
13:53 jihpringle25 joined #evergreen
13:53 jihpringle25 redavis: as far as the reports we've got it's all of Evergreen for the affected computers
13:54 jihpringle25 I've seen screenshots of the angular staff catalogue and the angularjs Item Status
13:54 redavis But it's not happening throughout the entirety of the upgraded libraries?
13:56 jihpringle25 no we've only had reports from 6 libraries and for some of them some computer are affected and others are normal
13:57 jihpringle25 I'm thinking something browser related (Chrome) but so far we haven't been able to pinpoint anything
13:58 redavis ++. is their a possibility of having them test it using Firefox?
13:58 mmorgan jihpringle25: Does sound browser related. Try a different browser on an affected computer? Try disabling extensions, Incognito mode?
13:58 redavis or something else?
14:00 jihpringle25 at least one library tried it in Edge and it looked normal
14:01 jihpringle25 we'll ask about extension and trying it in Incognito mode
14:01 jihpringle25 thanks mmorgan
14:02 jihpringle25 and thanks redavis for talking it through :)

14:05 shulabramble 55 minutes to Dev meeting
14:11 redavis jihpringle25, no prob. I'd love to hear back on the results. Also, do you have a Chrome version from the affected sites?
14:12 jihpringle joined #evergreen
14:13 sleary jihpringle25: ugh, I haven't seen that! If you inspect the <html> tag, is it getting a data-bs-theme attribute (either light, dark, or auto) after they log in?
14:13 sleary (we just fixed a bug where that doesn't get set until you log in, but that fix is not out yet)
14:14 jihpringle redavis: not so far, we've been asking
14:14 redavis jihpringle++ sleary++
14:14 jihpringle sleary: how would they inspect the html tag?
14:15 jihpringle we haven't been able to replicate ourselves which makes troubleshooting a little harder :)
14:15 sleary right-click anywhere on the page, choose "inspect" and look through the HTML source -- it'll be the top-level tag, first thing in the source code
14:15 jihpringle thanks, we'll ask them to check that
14:15 sleary jihpringle this might also be relevant: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78596366/how-to-determine-if-light-dark-css-is-supported-officially
14:16 sleary If they're on Chrome earlier than 122 or so, they really should upgrade
14:16 jihpringle ya, one of the first things we've been telling them is to check that Chrome is up to date, but we haven't gotten any version numbers back to confirm yet
14:17 sleary hate not being able to replicate a bug; it's the worst
14:22 jeffdavis need a special "No Thank You" bug status for those ones
14:25 csharp_ jihpringle: that's how we learned that several libraries had not ever upgraded from Windows 7
14:26 jihpringle ya, we're asking about operating system too now
14:26 csharp_ jihpringle: they should be able to use Firefox, at least through this summer if I recall correctly
14:26 sleary csharp_ lolsob
14:26 jihpringle that's good to know
14:26 csharp_ sleary: yep

14:27 redavis sleary++ csharp_ ugh
14:28 shulabramble csharp_ i found one in Sardis just after the President's Day upgrade.
14:28 csharp_ jihpringle: btw, I have not verified that FF works, but worth a try since using out-of-support Chrome is Not Good™
14:28 csharp_ shulabramble: are they using FF>?
14:29 shulabramble no they were still on Win7; new computer, just had been clicking through the upgrade notice for who knows how long.
14:29 csharp_ also, I wish libraries would consider installing Linux when they reach that point - it would be so much faster and more secure
14:29 csharp_ but Linux expertise is rare at the local admin level in Georgia, anyway
14:30 csharp_ shulabramble: good lord
14:30 * shulabramble is pro more Linux.
14:30 redavis and prevent them from downloading a spotify desktop app at the circulation computer. Oh...wait. That didn't happen there? No. Sorry, that was at one of "our" libraries.
14:30 csharp_ shulabramble++
14:31 csharp_ in the XUL client days a number of our directors banned internet browsing at the desk and the staff learned that the staff client could browse out to the web
14:31 shulabramble csharp_: turned what i expected to be a quick printer fix into two days of work. still, I like driving out to Burke County, so not all bad. saw some roadside vultures, which is always thrilling.
14:31 redavis lol, noice! resourcefulness
14:31 csharp_ I remember arguing with a director who wanted me to lock that down
14:32 csharp_ shulabramble: nice!
14:32 * shulabramble was one of those staff members going down wiki holes at the desk :D
14:32 redavis wait. roadside vultures? Are those regular birds or something else?
14:32 csharp_ right - there were some web links in the staff landing page
14:32 redavis (we have a buzzard tree nearby)
14:33 shulabramble vultures so focused on roadkill they don't fly away when you drive by, so if you slow down a little you can get a good look. I think vultures are cool, so i took the opportunity given the total lack of traffic to get some quality vulture observation in.
14:34 csharp_ @band add Roadside Vultures
14:34 pinesol csharp_: Band 'Roadside Vultures' added to list
14:35 redavis Oh, I LOVE vultures. There was also a young one near our feeders the other day (very unusual and it didn't hang out long). They're in my top ten birds.
14:35 csharp_ @band add Birdranker
14:35 pinesol csharp_: Band 'Birdranker' added to list
14:36 redavis lol
14:36 * redavis ranks everything and has to tell herself to stop when it gets a little compulsive.
14:37 shulabramble lol. when i went to my nephew's bar mitzvah there were a bunch of vultures out back of the applebees near the hotel. it was very very pleasing to watch them ransacking the dumpster
14:37 redavis Yes!!!
14:39 csharp_ always a few vultures at Applebees in my experience</couldnt_resist>
14:39 redavis csharp_++ <shouldnt_resist>
14:40 jihpringle thank you everyone who offered suggestions, now we're waiting to hear back from the libraries
14:40 jihpringle also, enjoying that our weird transparency issue led to roadside vultures :)
14:40 redavis :D
14:41 csharp_ we walk around with assumptions about what our libraries are doing - we never know until that kind of thing pops up

15:20 redavis Bmagic++ JBoyer++
15:20 redavis abneiman, honestly? I'm not sure. Just one sec.
15:21 redavis Okay, so we have volunteers for everything. Basically
15:22 shulabramble redavis++
15:22 redavis I do think it would be good to coordinate a little in terms of the uploading. We needs someone with lupin access to step forward.
15:23 redavis Unless Bmagic has it - and he does
15:23 Bmagic I'll do it
15:23 redavis So he might also be able to do the 3.15.0 uploads as well.

15:24 redavis If possible, it would be nice to have a joint meeting of release teams, recognizing there's some overlap. Just to make sure we're not getting into one another's way(s).
15:24 abneiman there's at least three of us on both
15:24 abneiman redavis, mantis, me
15:25 redavis Exactly. So the choreography will be both beautiful and potentially crazy.
15:25 shulabramble a Bob Fosse release.
15:26 terranm lol
15:26 * sleary shimmies
15:26 redavis There will be two point releases - to 3.14.5 and 3.13.10
15:26 redavis And, of course, 3.15.0
15:26 redavis abneiman, can we poll for a meeting at the beginning of next week?
15:27 abneiman redavis: yeah I'll do that *jazz hands*
15:27 redavis or whenever *waves hands vaguely at an imaginary calendar and time as a construct*
15:27 redavis abneiman++

15:28 redavis It'll be action packed. Tell your friends. Wear sensible shoes and bring a waterproof jacket.
15:28 shulabramble correction, tap shoes and a sequin jacket that'll sparkle under the stage lights.
15:28 abneiman I was gonna say, I thought we were going for crazy / beautiful
15:28 abneiman I'll wear the sequins
15:29 terranm This is why we need video meetings
15:29 abneiman :-D
15:29 * shulabramble has her fingers crossed for potential news and changes.
15:29 redavis I mean...that could work. Crazy/beautiful for me often includes manure and a fingernail brush.
15:29 sleary that movie had a great soundtrack...
15:30 sleary ANYWAY
15:30 redavis lol!!!
15:30 shulabramble any further point release/3.15 business to discuss?
