we upgraded to 3.14.4(ish) over the weekend and we've got a really strange bug happening - a few libraries are reporting that Evergreen is transparent. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? |
| 13:43 |
jihpringle |
For example, if you have a pop-up you can see the interface behind the pop up and most of the green (like for menus) is just not there |
| 13:44 |
redavis |
sleary, this reminds me of something from IANT. |
| 13:45 |
jihpringle |
we've had libraries clear their cache, cookies, the offline database, reset settings, check for console errors, update Chrome, and so far nothing has worked |
| 13:51 |

Are the interfaces affected consistent? |

jihpringle25 |
redavis: as far as the reports we've got it's all of Evergreen for the affected computers |
| 13:54 |
jihpringle25 |
I've seen screenshots of the angular staff catalogue and the angularjs Item Status |
| 13:54 |
redavis |
But it's not happening throughout the entirety of the upgraded libraries? |
| 13:56 |
jihpringle25 |
no we've only had reports from 6 libraries and for some of them some computer are affected and others are normal |
| 13:57 |
jihpringle25 |
I'm thinking something browser related (Chrome) but so far we haven't been able to pinpoint anything |
| 13:58 |
redavis |
++. is their a possibility of having them test it using Firefox? |
| 13:58 |
mmorgan |
jihpringle25: Does sound browser related. Try a different browser on an affected computer? Try disabling extensions, Incognito mode? |
| 13:58 |
redavis |
or something else? |
| 14:00 |
jihpringle25 |
at least one library tried it in Edge and it looked normal |
| 14:01 |
jihpringle25 |
we'll ask about extension and trying it in Incognito mode |
| 14:01 |
jihpringle25 |
thanks mmorgan |

| 14:13 |
sleary |
(we just fixed a bug where that doesn't get set until you log in, but that fix is not out yet) |
| 14:14 |

sleary: how would they inspect the html tag? |
| 14:15 |
jihpringle |
we haven't been able to replicate ourselves which makes troubleshooting a little harder :) |
| 14:15 |
sleary |
right-click anywhere on the page, choose "inspect" and look through the HTML source -- it'll be the top-level tag, first thing in the source code |
| 14:15 |
jihpringle |
thanks, we'll ask them to check that |

If they're on Chrome earlier than 122 or so, they really should upgrade |
| 14:16 |
jihpringle |
ya, one of the first things we've been telling them is to check that Chrome is up to date, but we haven't gotten any version numbers back to confirm yet |
| 14:17 |

vultures so focused on roadkill they don't fly away when you drive by, so if you slow down a little you can get a good look. I think vultures are cool, so i took the opportunity given the total lack of traffic to get some quality vulture observation in. |

| 15:35 |
berick |
oh yeah which may mean modifing the Firefox build docs |
| 15:35 |
berick |
sicne there's an alternate manifest |
| 15:36 |

I'll wrap things up in the next few days with berick's help, as soon as Launchpad stops throwing ISEs. |

for those that were following along earlier (redavis) it seems that old Chrome and old operating systems (like Windows 7) are the culprit for making Evergreen transparent |
