10:37 csharp_ berick: following up - looks like our OOM kill is happening around the new record buckets UI
10:37 csharp_ I don't think it's specific to Redis
10:37 berick csharp_: gotcha.  what's getting killed, a drone?
10:37 csharp_ OpenSRF is killed
10:38 berick heh
10:38 berick @who killed OpenSRF
10:38 pinesol jeff killed OpenSRF.
10:38 mantis we recently upgraded from 3.11.7 to 3.13.6.  I know that there is a wishlist item that was fulfilled in 3.13 that allows a dialog to pop up when a notification method is checked off but nothing is filled out in the field.  https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/2002572
10:38 mantis We're seeing that if a notification method is checked off within the patron edit or registration page, then that field becomes required.  Not sure if it's related to this wishlist item or if this is another feature/library setting.
10:38 pinesol Launchpad bug 2002572 in Evergreen "Wishlist: Ask to Confirm Holds Placement When No Notifications Are Selected" [Wishlist,Fix released]
10:38 mantis we're getting a few comments about it even though it makes a lot of sense to me
10:38 csharp_ berick: next-brick02-head kernel: Out of memory: Killed process 3643106 (opensrf-c) total-vm:2712340kB, anon-rss:2616116kB, file-rss:1180kB, shmem-rss:0kB, UID:2000
10:38 csharp_ high pcrud calls
10:40 csharp_ if there are any shmmax/sysctl type settings to make anything happier, that might help
10:40 berick csharp_: k.  assuming grepping the pid would show it's a drone
10:41 Bmagic csharp_: did you go to 24.04? Just curious
10:41 csharp_ Bmagic: 22.04
10:41 Bmagic ty
10:41 berick Bmagic: 24.04 issues?
10:43 Bmagic no, I've not made that jump yet either. All of our stuff was on top of 22.04
10:44 berick i'm starting the 24.04 upgrade train here soon
10:45 Bmagic We've reverted to ejabberd while we put the redis issues back into debug mode unfortunatly. And I've not had time to go back and work on the redis debug project. It's high on my list though
10:46 berick Bmagic: is it still limited to utility/batch/backend processes?
10:46 Bmagic It was* until we got a ticket about exporting MARC, and I dove into that and found that redis struck again
10:47 berick ah, right, the exporting
10:47 Bmagic Another one was Load PO recors from MARC, with an especially beefy Order, like 900 records
10:48 Bmagic It was those two tickets that put me over the edge, and changed all production back to ejabberd for the time being
10:49 Bmagic csharp_: but my issue is likely compounded by docker. Though, it's interesting (and a bit of a relief) that it's not only containers that make the problem OOM/resource issue bubble up
10:49 berick was about to ask..  in any event, offer stands to log in to test systems and poke around
10:50 Bmagic berick++ # I will likely take you up on that as soon as I can get something that breaks reliably. Oh and that's another thing: my test machine worked fine with the same MARC export test. It was only a problem on the production machine. Likely due to hardware differences
10:52 Bmagic ejabberd being slower might be a feature, not a bug, lol
10:52 berick it's not unheard of
10:52 Bmagic redis makes the hardware burn bright like a star until it burns out
10:52 berick secret trick: set log level to 5/trace :)
10:53 berick but then you'll create a singularity of log file mass
10:54 Bmagic You'll summon Ray Kurzweil

14:29 Dyrcona 32 minutes is a round number.
14:29 mmorgan ...but who's counting
14:29 Dyrcona Except it was 31 when you said it. :)
14:29 shulabramble I'm not. I never learned how to count.
14:30 mmorgan :)
14:31 jonadab All numbers are potentially round, depending on what base you're using.
14:32 Dyrcona base 0?
14:33 Dyrcona "All your base are belong to us."
14:33 jonadab Base 0 makes my brain hurt.  I was thinking of base e or some jazz, but.
14:33 Dyrcona Base 12: dec el do.

14:40 jonadab If you're gonna go higher than 16, might as well go to base 60.
