hello :) |
10:47 |
riteveld |
I have a question about the staff client.. Do you know if functionalities of the flat-text editor have been dropped in its transfer to the angular client? after upgrading to recent version of eg, some useful things are not working anymore ( item quick add and the autocomplete of marc fields ). both functions work in the enhanced marc editor, so was |
10:47 |
riteveld |
wondering if it's a bug or by design.. |
10:49 |
redavis |
What version are you looking at? |
10:49 |
csharp_ |
riteveld: flat text editor is still available (MARC Edit tab, then there are tabs beneath for Enhanced MARC Editor and Flat Text Editor) |
10:50 |
riteveld |
version 3.12.1. yes the flat text editor is still available, but some functions are not working (item add, autocompletion of fields) |
10:50 |
csharp_ |
riteveld: I don't do cataloging enough to speak to the other features you mention, but the goal in moving was feature parity as far as I know |
10:50 |
redavis |
csharp_, I think riteveld is looking specifically for quick add of item in the flat text editor. |
10:50 |
csharp_ |
clearly I'm not the one to ask about that :-) |
10:50 |
* csharp_ |
slinks away |
10:51 |
riteveld |
haha thanks anyway csharp. :) |
10:51 |
csharp_ |
there is an "Add Item" checkbox in the flat text editor, but you may see that |
10:51 |
riteveld |
yes, but does it add an item in your installation? :) |
10:51 |
csharp_ |
or in both |
10:52 |
redavis |
riteveld, in the community demo server, it's stil there. Let me give ia try. |
10:52 |
csharp_ |
riteveld: do you have access to system logs for your installation? |
10:52 |
csharp_ |
riteveld: also, the browser console log may show clues as to what is/isn't happening |
10:53 |
riteveld |
is the community demo server publicly accessible? |
10:53 |
csharp_ |
riteveld: fwiw, we've not gotten any tickets about that in PINES that I'm aware of (doesn't necessarily mean it's not an issue) |
10:53 |
redavis |
riteveld, it looks like it should work, but there's a item stat cat that's messing with things. |
10:54 |
redavis |
https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=community_servers |
10:54 |
riteveld |
super thanks a lot! |
10:56 |
riteveld |
csharp yes some js error I can't really bring to anything useful.. one sec |
10:56 |
redavis |
I was able to add a holding from the flat text editor. It kicks you out into the holdings editor from there. |
10:57 |
redavis |
I'm set up with a workstation at br1 and fixed the item stat cats if you want to try. I'm using the demo.evergreencatalog.com server and my holding has a barcode of blahblah or something like that. And a call number of test123 |
10:57 |
redavis |
If the stat cat wasn't required, I'm not sure if it would kick you out to the holdings editor or not. |
10:57 |
riteveld |
redavis: I am not sent to the holdings editor when creating a new record |
10:58 |
riteveld |
I am sent only when I quick add from an existing record |
10:58 |
riteveld |
are you sent also when you create a new record? |
10:58 |
redavis |
Oh, let me give that a try. I was editing an existing record. |
11:01 |
redavis |
That looks like a bug riteveld. Let me see if it's reported in Launchpad yet. |
11:02 |
redavis |
It creates the bib but not the holding. I'll try again real quick. See if I missed something. |
11:02 |
riteveld |
ah thanks! |
11:04 |
riteveld |
maybe we can finally contribute a bug to this amazing project. :) |
11:04 |
redavis |
It doesn't look like it creates the item using the enhanced editor in the create MARC interface either. |
11:05 |
* redavis |
opens up dev tools. looking for that JS error |
11:05 |
riteveld |
redavis: yes you're right! |
11:07 |
redavis |
I'm going to need to hop over to another computer with more screen real estate (still getting my setup set up again). |

csharp_, I wonder if what I'm seeing in console has to do with the combobox stuff Stephanie talked about in the collaborative code review... |
11:13 |
riteveld |
I have the offline-db-worker.js throwing "shared worker replying with error |
11:13 |
riteveld |
Object { code: 202, message: "http://google.github.io/lovefield/error_lookup/src/error_lookup.html?c=202&p0=Setting.value" }" |
11:13 |
riteveld |
and some main.js thing throwing "worker request failed with undefined" |
11:14 |
riteveld |
after "Lovefield worker received action=insertOrReplace schema=cache table=Setting field= value=" |
11:14 |
redavis |
when loading the create MARC interface, it's giving a "cannot read properties of undefined (reading "Bib_fields") |
11:15 |
sleary |
Create MARC is still using AngularJS as far as I know. |
11:15 |
redavis |
riteveld, full disclosure, I'm not a sys admin or developer. Just a project manager with some experience with Evergreen in a variey of contexts for a few years (I guess 16 now). |
11:15 |
redavis |
sleary++, I think so too. |
11:16 |
redavis |
In fact, I know so. And you would NEVER allow the misalignment of fields such as exist in it. |

All that to say, riteveld, I think the best bet is to submit a launchpad ticket with the knowledge that this is one of those interfaces that is/should be slated for rewrite into Angular from AngularJS. And, for the time being, create the MARC and then when it pushes you to the new catalog record, quick add or fully add the holding(s). |
11:19 |
riteveld |
thank you for looking into this. will submit ticket ^^ |
11:20 |
redavis |
If you link the ticket after you create it, I'll go in and add some heat as well. |

It seems that the EVERYTHING permission at the branch level will also allow you to edit/create/merge MARC records at the consortium level |
17:31 |
berick |
probably same with CREATE_MARC perm |
17:31 |

I thought consortium level was required for CREATE_MARC |
17:35 |

it is in the IDL, but not the API. |
