Does Evergreen's OPAC refresh back to the home page when no one is logged in and it's not currently on the home page after a certain amount of time? |
10:12 |
redavis |
There is an OPAC inactivity logout setting... |
10:12 |
redavis |
Is that what you're talking about? |
10:13 |
redavis |
It's in library settings. |
10:14 |
sandbergja |
Bmagic: there's this doodad: https://github.com/evergreen-library-system/Evergreen/blob/3517abe4acaa0b4752ce442abd1965c647c7a4a0/Open-ILS/src/templates-bootstrap/opac/parts/base_simple.tt2#L9 |
10:14 |
sandbergja |
I wonder if the "ctx.authtime" in that line comes from the library setting that redavis mentioned |
10:16 |
sandbergja |
There is also a related accessibility bug 1894900 |

Launchpad bug 1894900 in Evergreen "OPAC redirects users without warning or opportunity to cancel" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1894900 |
10:21 |
Bmagic |
It's when no one is logged in that I'm wondering about |
10:22 |
Bmagic |
patron sits at a computer, does a couple of searches and leaves. And the OPAC is showing their search results |
10:27 |
csharp_ |
Bmagic: yes, it should load the home screen after the configured amount of time |
10:27 |
jeff |
nothing stock that I'm aware of or could find in a few minutes of looking. why do you ask? |
10:27 |
redavis |
Ahh...I don't know about that. |
10:27 |
redavis |
That's a very good point though. |
10:28 |
jeff |
csharp_: is that a local customization, or stock? do you happen to know where it appears in code/templates? |
10:28 |
Bmagic |
csharp_: great! I must not know where the setting is then. Which one? |
10:29 |
jeff |
sandbergja: yes, ctx.authtime is set to the auth session's "authtime" value, which is driven by last activity and the setting of OPAC Inactivity Timeout (in seconds) (auth.opac_timeout), which is used for logins of type "opac". |
10:30 |
Bmagic |
jeff: in other words: you have to be logged in for the OPAC to return to the home page? |
10:30 |
csharp_ |
ohhhh - when no one is logged in |
10:30 |
jeff |
Bmagic: correct |
10:30 |
csharp_ |
sorry - must've glossed over that :-/ |
10:31 |
sandbergja |
ahh, it just now dawned on me that authtime == they are logged in |
10:31 |
jeff |
(barring local customizations or me missing something, both of which are possible) |
10:31 |
csharp_ |
yeah, we don't have that - good wishlist bug? |
10:31 |
Bmagic |
ok, just making sure it's not a feature today. We might submit a wishlist bug |
10:31 |
csharp_ |
jinx! |
10:32 |
jeff |
keep the above referenced bug 1894900 in mind if you do, it should probably at least be acknowledged in the new wishlist bug, if not accounted for in any proposed branch. :-) |

Bmagic: unrelated question about bug 2054349. It looks straightforward enough. Just for my own learning, were you seeing any particular impacts from those extra config.org_unit_setting_type_log rows, or is it just cleanup of now-useless rows? |

Does redirecting to the homepage improve privacy in some way? Maybe in a context where the browser is in some kiosk mode where navigation and history are blocked? We typically use the features of whatever kiosk software to refresh/reset in those cases, so I hadn't thought about it much before now. |
10:36 |
Bmagic |
sandbergja: It bombs the upgrade script if you have any related rows in the log tables |

I know that there were some interesting "covers" that existed only in poorly-researched but widely-applied metadata of the early MP3 days. I wonder if any of those ever became actual covers (ignoring for the moment any questions of causality). |
