09:28 Dyrcona Huh.... "U Bal" from Symphonie Fantastique (2nd movement?), Ride of the Valkyries, then 2 Breton folks songs by Tri Yann... Think my phone is on a classical/folk kick.

09:57 Dyrcona configure: error: *** OpenILS requires libopensrf
09:57 briank joined #evergreen
09:58 Dyrcona It's there. I configured and ran ldconfig. And, all I wanted to do was update eg_db_config to the version from main on a vm with 3.10.3 installed, and OpenSRF is set up to use Redis if that matters.
10:01 Dyrcona @blame 3a9279694aff88c4b7909fec00b50faea92212cd
10:01 pinesol Dyrcona: 3a9279694aff88c4b7909fec00b50faea92212cd typed Google into Google; broke the Internet.
10:02 Dyrcona So, if you encounter that configure error, it means you need to upgrade OpenSRF.
10:03 * Dyrcona fires up a local vm to run pgtap tests on Pg 16.
10:04 Dyrcona BTW, You can check the lib version with autotools. Not that we've been versioning libraries "correctly" either.
10:07 Dyrcona Did I mention before that I find Github's new 2FA requirements to be annoying? Well, if I didn't, I do, and if I did, I still do.
10:14 Dyrcona Hmm... Make a Pg 16 branch now, or test Pg 16 first?
10:16 Dyrcona Upgrade an existing VM or wipe it out and start over?

10:28 Dyrcona We still support Buster?
10:29 briank sorry everyone, was I spamming the channel with leave/join messages?
10:30 Dyrcona Yes, but it doesn't matter. I'm spamming the channel with my passing thoughts as I hack up a branch for PostgreSQL 16.
10:31 briank hah. well I'm trying to get a new system set up and clearly my irc client doesn't handle certain situations
10:31 briank apologies
10:31 Dyrcona No need to apologize. That's part of IRC, people coming and going... and me rambling. :)
10:32 Dyrcona brianK: Have you considered setting up a Quassel server? All of the kids are doing it.
10:32 * Dyrcona is not cool. :)
10:35 briank haha. it looks like this client doesn't deal with the system going to sleep. it's been doing this several times a minute all night :/
10:36 Dyrcona My client doesn't handle sleep either. I have to manually sign out. So, I just configured the laptop to never go to sleep. :)
10:38 briank I think I'll go the old classic route of gnu screen and a basic client
10:39 * Dyrcona uses Pidgin locally.
10:39 Dyrcona Also, I tried making a symlink using my editor, and it decided to link the full path of the target file, which would be fine if it was not in a git repository.
10:43 Dyrcona OK. There's a different command for relative symlinks.
10:44 Dyrcona After making the symlink to 000.english.pg94.fts-config.sql is there enything else that needs to be modified?
10:45 Dyrcona I think we fixed that when we dropped support 9.x versions...
10:46 Dyrcona I'll try it and see what happens.
10:48 Dyrcona Just another public note/comment: Looking at this we should try to install the PostgreSQL client that matches what's on the server, but I think we'd have to make the user specify that.
10:52 Dyrcona For anyone else who wants to give it a go, I just pushed a WIP branch to https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/Evergreen.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/user/dyrcona/add-pg16-support
10:52 briank joined #evergreen
10:52 Dyrcona I'll rebase and push to a different branch name when I think it's ready for a pull request.
10:58 Dyrcona @decide jammy or bookworm
10:58 pinesol Dyrcona: go with jammy
10:58 Dyrcona jammy is it!
11:05 Stompro Dyrcona, Re Github 2FA - I was just playing around with Hardware Security FIDO2 keys  and Passkeys yesterday.  I tried out adding both to github, what did you find annoying about it?
11:06 briank left #evergreen
11:06 Dyrcona Stompro: So far, any time I've tried to edit something about a repo, I've been bothered to use the GitHub app on the phone.
11:08 Stompro Ah, so they are doing a push notification type 2fa?  Like Google Prompt.  I didn't have the app installed so I don't think they offered that.
11:10 Stompro Passkeys + a password manager like bitwarden makes the login simple.  Passkeys are considered multi factor so nothing extra is required when using them.
11:11 Dyrcona my session was still logged in as far as I could tell.
11:33 Dyrcona The Redis code has not been merged to OpenSRF main, yet?
11:33 berick negatory
11:34 Dyrcona If I want to test redis on a fresh install which branch should I use?
11:34 berick collab/berick/lp2017941-opensrf-on-redis-v3
11:35 Stompro Bmagic, I like the look of that schemaspy.org project, the relationship diagrams are nice, and it would make schema comments visible.
11:35 Dyrcona berick++
11:35 Dyrcona rel_3_3_0 has redis, too, right?
11:35 Bmagic Stompro++ # I agree, I think it would be a nice supplement to our docs
11:37 Dyrcona I love how long ejabberd installations takes on Ubuntu 22.04.... I think I'm going to delete this vm and rebuild it fresh after lunch.
11:37 berick Dyrcona: opensrf rel_3_3_0 ?  redis is not in any of the osrf release branches
11:38 Dyrcona I *thought* it was added experimentally to 3.3.0. I'm probably misremembering/crazy.
11:39 berick we have hooks in the latest EG release branch so redis can be installed/used
11:39 berick may be what you're thinking of
11:40 Dyrcona OK.
11:40 Dyrcona That is probably what I'm thinking of. I'll just the working branch.
11:40 Dyrcona I plan to test Pg 16 and redis on this vm. I have redis installed elsewhere, too.
11:42 Dyrcona I guess I have to time to build the base vm right now.

11:52 csharp_ Dyrcona: re 2FA, I'm facing that issue with our local GitLab install after a recent version upgrade :-/
11:53 Dyrcona "You clicked on a button. Please, verify it is really you."
11:53 csharp_ right
11:54 csharp_ @eightball am I me?
11:54 pinesol csharp_: Come again?
11:54 Dyrcona @eightball Are you you?
11:54 pinesol Dyrcona: The answer is certainly yes.
11:54 csharp_ Cogito ergo sum
11:55 Dyrcona @egithball Are you he as I am he as you are me and we are altogether?
11:55 pinesol Dyrcona: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
11:55 berick yellow matter custard..
11:55 Dyrcona Cogito ergo walrus.
11:55 berick @ana yellow matter custard
11:55 pinesol berick: Totally warmest crude
11:56 * Dyrcona runs out to grab some lunch.
12:03 csharp_ @decide Cranberry Sauce or I buried Paul
12:03 pinesol csharp_: go with I buried Paul

13:42 Dyrcona I guess no one agrees with me: http://list.evergreen-ils.org/pipermail/evergreen-dev/2024-January/000726.html
14:01 Dyrcona Could not connect to Redis server at private.localhost:6379: Connection refused at /usr/local/share/perl/5.34.0/OpenSRF/Transport/Redis/BusConnection.pm line 83.
14:05 Dyrcona OK. I missed a step.
14:06 Dyrcona Well, no. I think the directions miss a step.
14:08 Dyrcona Huh... That made things worse... I tried having redis bind on private.localhost and public.looalhost.
14:11 briank_ joined #evergreen
14:15 Dyrcona Redis is not working for me today.
14:25 sleary joined #evergreen
14:28 Dyrcona Oh, right. I think the problem is actually my hosts file.
14:30 Dyrcona So, the README suggestion for the /etc/hosts file is wrong for Redis. You should put private.localhost and public.localhost on the same line as localhoast, and leve out the IP addresses.

14:34 kmlussier Happy Friday #evergreen! I guess it's a little late in the day to share my standard coffee and tea drinks.

14:35 * pinesol grabs some Chocolate Chip Cookies for bshum
14:36 kmlussier @swill [someone]
14:36 * pinesol grabs a bottle of Smirnoff Ice Passionfruit and sends it sliding down the bar to gmcharlt
14:38 kmlussier That last one sounds promising. "... infused with a sweet tart flavor for total island vibes." Maybe gmcharlt will share.

15:08 Dyrcona OK. Here gotes the big test: eg_db_config on Pg 16.
15:10 bshum Oooh cookies. Thanks kmlussier!

15:12 Dyrcona kmlussier++
15:13 Dyrcona And, it just works.
15:15 Dyrcona pgtap tests succeed.
15:21 kmlussier bshum: I knew you would like those! :)
15:24 berick Dyrcona: arg, good catch
15:24 berick re: hosts
15:24 Dyrcona berick: I ran into that before.

15:28 Dyrcona Hmm. I seem to be having issues with the Evergreen opensrf.xml. That's probably my fault.
15:29 Dyrcona Huh! I swear I updated he opensrf_core.xml, but it doesn't look like it now.
15:30 Dyrcona Maybe I forgot to save the changes?
15:32 jihpringle joined #evergreen
15:33 Dyrcona I bet I accidentally edited the .example file after copying.
15:34 Dyrcona Yeah. That's what happened. The files are identical.
15:34 Dyrcona Perl tests succeed, too.
15:35 Dyrcona Think I'll switch from Pg 15 to Pg 16 as the main database on my test server.
15:38 Dyrcona Maybe next week. I should read the release notes again for any gotchas.
