09:24 Dyrcona JBoyer++
09:24 Dyrcona I've found a few more instances of master that probably need to be changed.
09:29 pinesol News from commits: Update default branch name for docs <https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commitdiff;h=7787b2c315fe75ec0fd89f9065fb699f90f901ae>
09:32 Dyrcona I wonder if we should change master to main when talking about database servers and OpenSRF processes in the documentation?
09:33 gmcharlt Dyrcona: I like primary/secondary or primary/replica for databases
09:35 JBoyer quick +1 for primary / replica because replica doesn't imply how many replicas there may be.
09:36 Dyrcona That's fine with me. I won't make any changes to that documentation today. I'm looking for things that reference branches.
09:36 gmcharlt sounds good
09:37 Dyrcona I've found 3 so far, been messing with grep -exclude options to eliminate some obvious things I can skip.
09:37 Dyrcona Should I update the XUL Makefiles? There are a couple of things that look for master in there.
09:42 Dyrcona I'm putting ./Open-ILS/xul/staff_client/Makefile.am on my list of files to check/fix.
09:42 * gmcharlt wonders if anybody is still using the legacy XUL client for 3.9+
09:45 rfrasur Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.  But maybe.
09:48 Dyrcona Parts of it do not work after notes were moved. Can't remember if that was for patrons, copies, or both.
09:48 Dyrcona Can we just delete it already?
09:49 Dyrcona I've got six files to look at and 3 of them definitely needed updated.
09:49 Dyrcona s/needed/need/
09:59 gmcharlt oh, I'm all for removing it
09:59 pinesol News from commits: Update node version in github actions <https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commitdiff;h=d21e5dd47c5071b9f9286e9f5ac9cc6729352e9d>

10:02 Dyrcona git rm Open-ILS/xul is about all it takes :)
10:03 gmcharlt not quite that easy, alas, but certainly the build stuff and most of the XUL chrome could be immediatley removed
10:04 Dyrcona Yeah, I'll look for some of the related bugs. There's a bug to remove it and at least one other about removing the org unit settings not used by the web staff client.
10:04 gmcharlt and my recent one that inspired me to create the xul-removal LP tag
10:05 Dyrcona Yeah.
10:05 Dyrcona Maybe we'll remove it for 3.12/4.0 whatever the next release is called.
10:06 Dyrcona if OpenSRF gets Redis by the next release, I'd be inclined to go with 4.0 for both Evergreen and OpenSRF. We did the same with 3.0.
10:07 gmcharlt I'm not opposed
10:11 rfrasur That's mighty exciting.
10:16 Dyrcona Busy morning.

10:29 sleary If I have plenty of notice on that, I can make sure to arrange some UI projects to give it a visibly new and improved look.
10:30 pinesol News from commits: LP2019032 Keyboard support for PO line items <https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commitdiff;h=626dfeba115acf602d807d9efcce36e484924fd0>
10:30 pinesol News from commits: Update more branch references from master to main <https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commitdiff;h=8c9693328110b5bd93f762eb5f3eb89a2e70fc5c>
10:40 JBoyer While we're talking about The Future, just a reminder that at some point the BPAC was just going to become /the/ PAC. Especially if we're waving "4.0" around.
10:40 JBoyer It's Friday; let's bring out the crowbars and move some stuff around!
10:40 JBoyer ;p
10:41 Dyrcona Heh.
10:41 Dyrcona Interesting. I notice that my update to the main branch didn't show up here, but the email was sent.
10:42 Dyrcona Oh, wait. There it is out of order.
10:42 Dyrcona It is Friday...at least...(at last?).
10:45 mmorgan Yes! Friday of one of those weeks with a Monday holiday that always somehow seem longer than those without a holiday ...
10:59 dluch mmorgan: So true!!

12:00 Dyrcona So much talk about being on a "dependency treadmill" in the OpenSRF/Redis email thread. It feels like a treadmill with Angular, AngularJS, and Node. In fact, that's what modern web development feels like. Though I'd be more inclined to call it Sisyphean rather than a treadmill.

12:24 csharp_ @eightball is that a cult?
12:24 pinesol csharp_: It shall be.
12:34 Dyrcona The Rusty Scabbard was the name of my local miniatures and game shop for years.
12:38 jeffdavis maybe instead of talking about dependency treadmills we should just say that Rust never sleeps

13:19 gmcharlt noting as a data point that Equinox is seeing no signs of XUL client diehards among our hosted systems
13:22 mmorgan As of February, it sounds like Stompro was still supporting xul in some manner: http://irc.evergreen-ils.org/evergreen/2023-02-24#i_521070
14:12 Dyrcona Well, XUL has been deprecated for how long now? It's time that it goes. If not in this fall's release, then by next spring.

15:52 abowling Angular question. I have a select dropdown of item barcodes bound in ng-model to a default barcode in JSON in my script. e.g. foo.copy.id
15:53 abowling When I look at the element in inspector, the value reads value=" ? number:1092 ?"
15:54 abowling When I attempt to make it foo.copy.id.toString(), it works, but then the console complains of an error, that it can't process .toString()
15:54 abowling Any ideas?
