Is there a way from the command line to run a report? I'm working on a report view in the fieldmapper, and the query in the view is fine but the spacing and everything are giving me fits. Fixing a spacing issue, then running a report to see if it's fixed (it's invariably not), rinse, repeat....The number of "report failed..." emails I have in my |

inbox is too damn high |

tlittle: I don't think there is a command to just run a report, but you could add it to the schedule with srfsh using open-ils.reporter.schedule.create. |

Dyrcona |
Oh! That takes a report object, so that complicates things. I thought it might take a list of arguments. |

Any referenceusa + ezproxy users? having probs with the proxied URL. stanza matches OCLC :\ |

Bah. I suppose I'll just keep truckin' with what I'm doing, but I will be grumpy about it |
| 13:07 |
Dyrcona |
heh... also I should have said it takes a schedule object. I'm pretty sure it would send the email, too, doing it that way. |

tlittle, I don't have a way to run a report via command line, but if the annoying aspect is the email you can remove it or remove it from your account while troubleshooting. |

If that's *not* it (wouldn't surprise me. :) ) then it might be a useful thing to put in LP to see what kind of other interest there is in developing such a thing (and what that would look like, when it comes to things like parameters and so on.) |

JBoyer Nah, the annoying bit is rebuilding the report template every single time. Unless I don't have to do that? If I make a change to the fieldmapper, save, then what should I do after that to ensure my report has the most up to date fieldmapper info? I've been running autogen, restarting services, and clearing cache because why not. But do I |
| 13:26 |
tlittle |
need to create a new template each time? I was worried that it would cache something old if I didn't recreate it from scratch each time |
| 13:27 |
tlittle |
I'm operating on the "throw spaghetti on the wall" method, clearly |
| 13:30 |
Dyrcona |
I don't think that report templates are cached. |
| 13:30 |
Dyrcona |
I don't see it in the code, either. |
| 13:31 |
JBoyer |
I think all that's really required is to save the file (under /openils/var/web/reports, not /openils/conf/) and *maybe* restart apache since the reporter pulls that version to build the file from. |

Dyrcona |
The IDL, right.... |
| 13:32 |
csharp_ |
tlittle: there is the SQL builder script in one of the directories in the source code that takes report.data and template.data and generates the SQL that the reporter would run |
| 13:32 |
JBoyer |
I think that using Simple Reporter you'd be able to just edit the existing report, but I think that the standard reporter only pulls from the IDL when creating the report, so you may be stuck there. :( |

I'm investigating doing our PINES-wide annual reports via Perl this year leveraging the same libraries |
