I have a git question. I've now updated git so that I can see stats related to signoffs. This is the command I'm working with: |
16:26 |
kmlussier |
git shortlog --group=trailer:signed-off-by --after="03 Apr 2023" --before="20 Apr 2023" -s -- ":(exclude)./docs/" |

Does anyone know if there is a way to count the signoffs where the person signing off is not the author? I'm thinking the answer is no, but maybe somebody smarter than me when it comes to git knows of a way. |

abowling: Try dividing the file that you're submitting in half, and then half again and again until it imports correctly. |

Bmagic: Thanks, but it's one record (a test) ;) |

kmlussier: I'm wish I knew the right answer for that. After you mentioned it the other day, I spent some time on getting sign-offs out of git with counts like you were talking about. I'm sure someone, ahem gmcharlt, might know it. Since he publishes these numbers sometimes |

abowling: hmmm, do you get this error for any* record? |

seemingly, yes |

Is the temp space writeable by opensrf? |

(configured in opensrf.xml) |

An unrelated question, since gmcharlt's name as already been invoked, is I noticed a commit from sleary where gmcharlt was listed as a co-author. I hadn't seen that before and noticed he didn't have a signoff. Should co-authors add signoffs to branches too? That seems more like a policy question than a technical question. |

good question! I'm not sure where Evergreen policies are on that |

kmlussier: re Co-authored-by, I added that line when I was committing. sleary made an acknowledgment in launchpad, and I wanted to capture that somehow when committing. We use co-authored-by a lot at work, and I think it's a nice practice, so it came to my mind. |

kmlussier |
sandbergja: Ah nice! I agree it's good to include as an acknowledgement to others who contributed. Thanks for providing that background. |
