Does anyone update MARC directly in the database, maybe using regex replace or something? I usually write a Perl program using MARC::Record. I'm thinking of trying one using a regex substring replace directly in the database. |

The proposed change will make the records shorter by a few bytes. I should use a Perl program with MARC::Record. |

Dyrcona: I've often wondered if that would be a good idea for certain projects, though I can't think of specific ones at three o'clock on a Friday (before a long weekend) ;-) |

mmorgan: I recall receiving the suggestion to add a database Perl function, but I'm not fond of that for one shot updates. |
