rfrasur: By "Server-side" print templates, do you mean org unit settings rather than workstation settings? |
15:52 |
rfrasur |
Yes. |
15:58 |
berick |
not sure if this helps or confuses, but the print templates at /eg2/en-US/staff/admin/server/config/print_template are stored in their own database table. no settings involved. Only used by Angular pages. |
15:58 |
berick |
these are what I call "server print templates" |

Hmm, that does kinda help. I'm just wondering if anyone has actually gotten them going in production with more templates than the stock ones. |
16:01 |
berick |
rfrasur: non-standard templates or modified stock templates? |
16:01 |
mmorgan |
berick: The confusion was already in existence (for me anyway :)). I thought server side print templates might be a different thing than ws/ou settings. |
16:01 |
rfrasur |
Thanks like checkout receipts |
16:02 |
rfrasur |
Things |
16:02 |
rfrasur |
Sheesh. Obviously my brain isn't connecting to fingers well today. |
16:03 |
rfrasur |
The fields that are referenced in the server side templates are different than the same templates in the workstation settings. Or I've missed something fundamental. |
16:03 |
berick |
ok, so a checkout receipt would not be a Server Print Template unless you're running the Angular Circ working branch |
16:03 |
rfrasur |
Oh. Hmm. |
16:03 |
rfrasur |
That makes sense. |
16:03 |
rfrasur |
So, that's a "not yet" thing anyway. |
16:05 |
rfrasur |
All of those receipts that are circ related are dependent on using angular circ. That a fair assessment? |
16:05 |
berick |
yeah. a checkout receipt would be the angjs style where if you save changes you are saving them to workstation settings. |
16:05 |
berick |
my 'yeah' was for previous comment |
16:05 |
rfrasur |
Got it. |
16:05 |
berick |
rfrasur: "all thos receipts" ? where exactly |
16:06 |
rfrasur |
Well, anything that's still AngularJS. So, if it's the AngularJS Checkin, and there's a transit slip, that's going to be AngularJS. (though I think that's probably an oversimplification) |
16:07 |
rfrasur |
Items Out receipt is currently going to have to be workstation template because that production interface is angularJS. |
16:07 |
berick |
yes, exactly |
16:08 |
berick |
there are only a few Server Print Templates in stock EG at the moment. just a handful |
16:08 |
rfrasur |
Yep. |
16:08 |
rfrasur |
And now I understand why it's not just a matter of cloning them and adding in some AngularJS code. |
16:08 |
rfrasur |
Thank you. |
16:09 |
mmorgan |
rfrasur: What are you trying to accomplish regarding the receipts? |
16:09 |
rfrasur |
Go to all server managed receipts so that we never have to expoort/import templates again. |
16:10 |
berick |
that's the spirit! |
16:10 |
rfrasur |
And we can help our member libraries with the customizations if they want them, and let them run wild and leave us alone (oh...wait...not the last part) |
16:10 |
mmorgan |
You *can* potentially do that with the ws/ou settings. We have done some of that. |
16:11 |
mmorgan |
When you save a angjs checkout receipt template on a workstation, it sets a workstation setting in the database with the name "eg.print.template.checkout" |
16:11 |
rfrasur |
Yeah, too complex. We have a very, very tight ship right now. And a brand new sys admin. |
16:11 |
mmorgan |
Ok, gotcha! |
16:12 |
rfrasur |
That is a great idea, but we just don't have sys admin capacity. And then there's me...and the good lord knows EYE don't have the capacity for much. Conversion of biological matter to energy. So, I guess that's something cool. |
16:13 |
mmorgan |
Just to finish the thought, you can create the org unit setting type "eg.print.template.checkout" and copy the value from the configured workstation setting. |
16:14 |
rfrasur |
++ |
16:14 |
mmorgan |
But it is complex and potentially time consuming. |
16:14 |
rfrasur |
That really is pretty clever though. |
16:14 |
mmorgan |
Yeah. berick is clever :) |
