Thanks! I was curious if I'd managed to actually break something in a three-word docs change (which is eminently possible, LOL). We talked about the docs-builder yesterday in our preconf. |

is there a setting to thwart symspell when someone does a keyword search of an ISBN? |
10:22 |
stephengwills |
maybe “setting” is the wrong word, ‘trick,’ ‘work-around,’ ‘magic-spell?’ Anything that doesn’t involve a stick with a nail in it. |

stephengwills, I think you'll be better off by applying upgrade script 1306 if you haven't already, and then re-doing the symspell generation using the symspell-sideload.pl from 3.8.0. That will throw away all ISxNs or any string with 5 or more digits in it. |
10:24 |
stephengwills |
tx. on it. |

(The sideloader changes may have hit earlier in 3.7.x, but I know that one has improvements over 3.7.0 and don't recall off hand when 1306 hit) |
10:25 |
JBoyer |
stephengwills, Also note the new symspell steps at the end of the 1306 script too, the select's have been changed to ignore deleted bibs which 3.7.0's version didn't do. |

Dyrcona++ for exporting video to frames and stiching it back together with ffmpeg |
17:25 |
rhamby |
I needed that laugh. |
17:30 |
Dyrcona |
rhamby: I did it to digitally rotoscope a music video. I used a GIMP scheme script to apply filters to each frame. |
17:31 |
Dyrcona |
It didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. |
17:31 |
rhamby |
I know you can do it and I can even see an argument for it, split the audio out, resync it back in but you have to admit, the utility is pretty edge case. :) |
17:31 |
Dyrcona |
Yes. |
17:32 |
rhamby |
I say this as the person with dozens of prebuilt ffmpeg scripts in my personal laptop's script directory |
17:32 |
Dyrcona |
It might have been cooler if I'd dropped a random frame every 5 to 8 frames or so. |
17:32 |
rhamby |
heh |
17:34 |
Dyrcona |
I'll use ffmpeg for various slicing and dicing of videos, but I don't have any premade scripts. |
17:36 |
Dyrcona |
One thing it is really useful for is spitting out a few dozen frames to make an animated gif or avif. |
17:36 |
Dyrcona |
But a comparable video is usually a smaller file size. |
17:36 |
rhamby |
I enjoy figuring out formulas with them. A friend recently asked me to help with a problem, they have photos and wanted to start at a point, zoom out and add audio for batch making Tiktoks and it was taking them forever in an app. I was like "ffmpeg can do that!" and scripted it for them. |
17:37 |
rhamby |
now they just feed it the image and audio as parameters and it bangs them out |

Yeah, that stuff is cool. I've messed with scaling and cropping a little, but not much. |

I've used ffmpeg pretty heavily, had lots of scripts. I'd review show footage, collecting timestamps, and stick them in a variables file, along with approximate x/y coordinates of performers on stage. Would split into multiple songs, and separate clips zoomed in on performers/areas, with some "simulated handheld motion", and some panning shots. To autogenerate music videos from a single 4K shot. It mostly kinda worked, lol. |

When I did my split frames/run it through GIMP, I was trying for Ralph Bakshi, but I didn't even get Through a Scanner Darkly. |
17:41 |
jamin |
Nowadays use it to create videos from my youngest's photos... he's into stop animation. Figuring out how many frames per second he wants it to be can take some trial/error. |
17:42 |
rhamby |
emulating Ralph Bakshi is always worthwhile whether you succeed or not |
17:42 |
jamin |
Agreed! |

17:43 |

And of course converting footage from various (sometimes crappy variable frame rate) sources, before ingesting into davinci |
17:43 |
Dyrcona |
The gimp-fu script I tried is in there. |
17:44 |
Dyrcona |
I should work on it. Maybe an additional filter will do it? |
17:48 |
