As for Neil Diamond, I'm partial to "Caffeinated Man." |

Isn't Neil Diamond the guy who wrote "song she sang to me / song she brang to me"? |

if you have not logged in and opened the copy editor in a long time, your copy templates will not be migrated from xul unless you manually visit the url of the old AngularJS colcopy editor. |
13:50 |
jeff |
also in semi-related observation are "empty IN list" errors when viewing the holdings template editor from local administration: thrown by an open-ils.pcrud.search.acpl.atomic call. I haven't dug into that yet. |
14:21 |
jeffdavis |
we see "empty IN list" errors pretty frequently, I've never been able to track down the cause |
14:22 |
jeffdavis |
unrelatedly, we've had a couple of incidents lately where several libraries have reported "slowness"/things not loading at times when open-ils.pcrud drone counts are high but not maxed out (i.e. there *are* pcrud drones available) |
14:23 |
jeffdavis |
can certain clients get "pinned" to specific drones that are busy serving other requests? |
14:26 |
jvwoolf |
jeffdavis: I'm about to go lie down, but wanted to say we've seen that too |
14:26 |

I wonder if the fix for bug 1974195 would help |
14:28 |
pinesol |
Launchpad bug 1974195 in Evergreen 3.8 "memory leak when doing fleshed Fieldmapper searches from C DB services" [High,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1974195 |
14:30 |
Dyrcona |
It wouldn't hurt. |
14:32 |
Dyrcona |
I think the fix for but 1974193 would help more. |
14:32 |
Dyrcona |
bug 1974193 |
14:32 |
pinesol |
Launchpad bug 1974193 in OpenSRF "memory leak when C apps respond to client" [High,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1974193 |
14:32 |
jvwoolf |
Dyrcona: I was just looking for that one |
14:33 |
Dyrcona |
What seems to happen is clients often spend some time communicating with the same brick. I don't think that they jump around too much, depending on your load balancer. |
14:33 |
berick |
clients cannot be pinned to drones (unless actively connected and talking), but what Dyrcona said.. |
14:34 |
berick |
it's not uncommon to get pinned to a specific web server |
14:35 |
jvwoolf |
Dyrcona: I've been meaning to ask you how to apply those fixes. mantis and I were looking at them but we don't know what to do with them. |
14:36 |
Dyrcona |
jvwoolf: If you install from git, then just cherry-pick the commit into your git branch. |
14:36 |
Dyrcona |
If you install via tarballs, you can make a patch with git and then patch the code from the tarball. |
14:38 |
jvwoolf |
Dyrcona: I guess what I mean is we're not sure how to apply them to the installed system. Do they require fresh Evergreen/OpenSRF installs? |
14:38 |
Dyrcona |
Yeah, you have to go through make and make install again. |
14:39 |

Thank you |
14:39 |
Dyrcona |
The changes are in C libraries, so they have to be compiled. |
14:39 |
Dyrcona |
YW! |
14:41 |
jeffdavis |
fwiw, we had a pcrud drone spike this morning and I definitely see an increase in committed memory at that time, but "actually-used" memory was unaffected - so it's likely we're seeing those bugs but I'm not sure it would account for the slowness/page-not-loading effects our libraries are reporting |
14:41 |
Dyrcona |
I don't think the patches will make much difference with how many drones are running, just that they'll use less memory. |
14:42 |
Dyrcona |
I've also seen storage drones using a lot of memory, fwiw, and storage is implemented in Perl. |

Has edit_date(2022-06-06)#deleted as a keyword search been around long? Mine shows edited items but not deleted barcodes. |
15:39 |
bgillap |
Might just be my versions behind though. I had to mark something undeleted in postgres today but found this wiki article and assumed it was the same function. |
15:55 |
Dyrcona |
bgillap: I believe that is searching edit dates of bib records and not copies. |
15:57 |
Dyrcona |
Also, are you searching in the staff client/staff catalog or the patron catalog? The latter doesn't show deleted records. |
16:03 |
Dyrcona |
Hmm. Maybe I need to look at what #deleted actually does. |
16:16 |
Dyrcona |
#deleted seems to pick up where some are deleted and some not. |
16:28 |
Dyrcona |
I didn't check the code, but #deleted seems to be looking at deleted copies or call numbers and not deleted bibs. |
16:39 |
bgillap |
Ahh that would explain it actually if it's for bib records and not copies. |
