08:43 Dyrcona I'm not getting ejabberd to work with shaper:\nnone
08:47 Dyrcona OK. Got it. shaper: {} and shaper_rules: {}

09:35 Dyrcona I'm switching all of my test and development systems over to the no shaper configuration. If it works out there, I'll try it in production start June 13th. We plan to upgrade to 3.7.3 on that date.

09:49 Dyrcona Ubuntu 22.04 is a bit flakey when installing updates. It has this feature that offers to restart services for you, and I've seen that hang, particularly when there has been a kernel update, too.
09:55 Dyrcona gmcharlt: Your suggestion on bug 1941653 doesn't seem to work for me on Ubuntu 22.04. Ejabberd seems to hang while restarting, though it could be that apparmor garbage again.
09:55 pinesol Launchpad bug 1941653 in OpenSRF "Update recommended shaper settings" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1941653
09:56 gmcharlt @blame apparmor
09:56 pinesol gmcharlt: apparmor wants the TRUTH?! apparmor CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!
09:58 Dyrcona Yeah, it was apparmor. I hadn't disabled it on this vm. I think setting the shaper and shaper rule to {} has a few advantages. Namely, we get infinite max_user_sessions.
10:01 * Dyrcona decides to destroy a Debian 9 vm and not rebuild it.
10:02 Dyrcona I should probably do the same with my Devuan VMs. I don't think anyone else has any interest in using that distro but me, and I've not had the time or the interest to update the branch.
10:04 Dyrcona IDK. Maybe I'll dust the branch off over the long weekend and bring it up to date. Depends on if I have anything else to do.
10:13 Dyrcona gmcharlt: Did you want to work on bug 1973060 or should I take it? I can probably make some time to work on it between now and the Hackfest.
10:13 pinesol Launchpad bug 1973060 in OpenSRF "OpenSRF Crashes with Ejabberd 21.12" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1973060
10:14 gmcharlt Dyrcona: I won't stand in your way, but let me know if you don't end up finding time
10:14 Dyrcona OK. I'll take the bug. gmcharlt++

10:31 Dyrcona Hmm.. Haven't touched this vm for about a year. Always the question to keep using it or just erase it and build a new one...
10:54 Dyrcona Grr. opensrf is a reserved username on Debian.... Means that I have to do some user gymnastics....
10:54 jeff heh
10:56 Dyrcona I usually just make the opensrf user during vm setup. Saves a step or twenty later.
11:04 Dyrcona Hmmm... I think I'm going to start over. It looks like things are being installed that I don't want, like libreoffice. I'm pretty sure that I "unchecked" the box for gnome.....
11:07 Dyrcona Yeahp. It boots up into X/Wayland whatever Debian 11 uses.
11:13 Dyrcona OK. I see what happened. I didn't deselect Debian Desktop Environment.
11:14 Dyrcona Install is a lot faster without all of the graphical stuff. :)
11:16 csharp_ https://www.reddit.com/r/ProgrammerHumor/comments/uywl94/npm_install/
11:23 csharp_ I like using "old blue", as the kids nowadays call the Debian installer
11:26 Dyrcona Yeah, I still like the Debian installer. Particularly how it looks up the hostname when you manually configure the IP address. It would be nice if they'd add the feature to look up SSH keys like the Ubuntu installer has now.
11:30 Dyrcona I still think the simplest/easiest installer I've ever used is OpenBSD with Slackware being a close second, but I haven't installed Slackware in almost 2 decades, so that might have changed.
11:35 csharp_ I actually like the Fedora/RHEL GUI installer
11:41 Dyrcona Ah, the "speed" of copying things between VMs running on the same host: 126.9MB/s
11:43 Dyrcona I should probably make a Fedora VM just to play with it. It has been a while.
11:47 Dyrcona I've been meaning to make some more VMs to play with various things, like alternate webservers, etc.
11:49 Dyrcona It might be kind of fun with tinker with Linux from Scratch.
