Hi everyone! I am getting reports that when staff print out a patron's receipt, the printer prints the receipt and then just continues to spit out the whole roll of receipt paper. How should I troubleshoot that? |

sandbergja: Are they using Hatch? |
13:22 |
sandbergja |
nope -- I don't believe so |
13:24 |
sandbergja |
confirmed -- no hatch |

I've never heard of a whole roll of receipt paper getting pushed out, but when printing via the browser, printing the headers and footers cause a lot of extra paper to get pushed out. In the browser's print preview, there's a checkbox for that, I believe. |

We have had instances where the paper size pulls from the window's default printer, instead of the paper size for the receipt printer. The quick solution for this is to make the receipt printer the default. |

sandbergia I've seen that when the papersize is wrong / pulling default |

sandbergja: We have instructions on how to set up the browser for printing without Hatch written up if you want to see them |

Let me know if you need Chrome or Firefox |

sandbergja |
jvwoolf: I would love that! Both would be helpful |

For firefox, it looks like if we don't use the firefox print preview screen, and use the system print dialog instead, things are working correctly |

We have Hatch set up in there too, but without Hatch is first |

In the preview screen the header and footer option, as mentioned above, is hidden under More settings. That's been our culprit. |

sandbergja: make sure the Windows printer settings (printing preferences from the right click menu on the print in the control panel) is set to the correct paper size |

Is there a function or a quick formula to determine what a vis_attr_vector value represents? |
16:11 |
jeffdavis |
e.g. `select * from search.calculate_visibility_attribute(6,'bib_source')` returns 268435462, but given 268435462 in vis_attr_vector I don't know how to get to "ah, that means bib_source = 6" |
16:38 |
jeffdavis |
268435462 = 1 << 28 | 6 |
16:39 |
jeffdavis |
but I'm not sure how to reverse the operation |
16:41 |
mmorgan |
jeffdavis: I can't help, but am also curious. |
