Dojo itself isn't that bad if we'd kept up with it. Somehow we ended up in a situation where we couldn't upgrade. |

I'm not a huge face of "web application frameworks" because it seems too much like flavor of the month. Some new one comes out all the cool projects have to adopt it. |

we're keeping up with Angular better than we ever did with Dojo, but there really wasn't a dev community to speak of when that was first implemented |

there is definitely more organization since those days and things like the Bug Squashing Weeks have been great informal but structured events to help pull things together |

As anyone tried using voice recognition or commands for Evergreen for accessibility? |
13:48 |
rhamby |
I haven't but that would be interesting. |
13:50 |
mantis |
we have one library asking |
13:51 |
mantis |
I haven't looked at voice recognition for computers, but that would be a question targeted better towards whatever software they'll use, correct? |
13:51 |
Dyrcona |
mantis: We intend it to be usable that way, so anything that doesn't should be entered as a bug on Launchpad. That said, I've not tried. |
13:52 |
Dyrcona |
Well, I guess we aim at screen readers, but I think voice commands fall in a similar domain. |
13:53 |
rhamby |
I would think any voice recognition that works with modern web browsers would work, we do the same stuff a lot of other modern web UI do |
13:55 |
mantis |
I haven't tried it yet but I'll report back on it |
13:58 |

I think creating an Alexa skill or similar would be a good time investment for someone interested |

I wonder if a lot of the "Evergreen is slow" reports are browsers being bogged down from all of the JavaScript running? |

By "Evergreen is slow," I mean when library staff open a ticket/say that they're having a hard time using Evergreen at the moment. |

I am trying to set up a collection in our library such that 1) staff can place holds, but patrons can't; 2) once a hold exists, these items can be targeted to fill it; 3) if possible: staff need to override before placing the hold |
16:24 |
sandbergja |
I have 1 and 2 working, but I'm wondering if 3 is incompatible with 2 |
16:25 |
mmorgan |
sandbergja: I would agree that 3 is incompatible with 2. |
16:26 |
sandbergja |
mmorgan++ |
16:27 |
sandbergja |
I will not try to do that, then. :-) |
16:27 |
mmorgan |
The override means that no items are holdable. If they're not holdable they won't be targeted. |
16:29 |
sandbergja |
that makes so much sense |
