The tester wasn't being reset correctly so git failed because the destination existed and wasn't empty. Tune in at 6pm Eastern for the exciting conclusion. |

Grr. Changes to bash defaults in recent distros.... |
13:35 |
Dyrcona |
enable-bracketed-paste is annoying enough to turn off.... |
13:35 |
Dyrcona |
@who decided to enable bracketed paste by default? |

rjackson_isl_hom decided to enable bracketed paste by default. |

Ha! |

IDK, some people might like pastes being highlighted. I don't like it when things change unnecessarily. |

JBoyer: It will make things easier if your branch for Lp 1850156 go in before the changes for Jessie and Bullseye, so I'm going to start my Evergreen for Lp 1940146 off of your commit from that branch. |

Launchpad bug 1940146 in OpenSRF "Add Installation Support for Debian 11.0 (Bullseye)" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1940146 - Assigned to Jason Stephenson (jstephenson) |

Also, I assume that it is easier for Evergreen to separate the -jessie commits from the +bullseye commits. I didn't bother with that on OpenSRF since the changes were so simple. |
14:31 |
Dyrcona |
Yes, I'm looking at that. Right now, I think I'll start with the commit to remove firefox and chromium, then do a commit to remove Jessie, and finally add Bullseye. |
14:32 |

I've already pushed a signoff branch with a minor change to the README for OpenSRF to working, but I haven't updated the bug, yet. |

I think the OpenSRF install doc could use a bit more attention but I apparently need to use a slightly more WYSIWYG editor for it than vim to really give it the business. There are far too many chunks of the ejabberd bits that are nigh identical. |
14:36 |
JBoyer |
But that's a commit for a later day. |

Looks like sudo defaults have changed in Bullseye. When I do the prerequisite installation, the .cpan, .npm, and .config directories are added/updated for /root and not in my user's $HOME. That's different from previous Debian and Ubuntu releases. |
16:04 |
JBoyer |
So previously you had those directories in your $HOME but owned by root? |
16:09 |
JBoyer |
They're all in /root on my stretch and buster machines, I don't have anything much older handy. |

JBoyer: Yes, on Ubuntu. I'll have to double check the Debian machines. |
16:16 |
Dyrcona |
Must be an Ubuntu thing. |
16:16 |
Dyrcona |
Buster has 'em in /root |

Launchpad bug 1556302 in sudo (Ubuntu Bionic) "Ubuntu patch to add HOME to env_keep makes custom commands vulnerable by default" [Low,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1556302 |
16:36 |
jeff |
the changelog entry notes it as: "This restores sudo handling of $HOME to what everyone else does" |
16:41 |
jeff |
(and the actual change to "what everyone else does" probably only affects 19.10 (Eoan Ermine) and later.) |

How does Evergreen "know" which index an authority record belongs to? Subject/Author ect. |
16:57 |
Dyrcona |
Bmagic: It starts with the headings fields in the MARC. |
16:58 |
Bmagic |
Let's say the authority record was both an author and a subject. Like Mark Twain. Books about him and books by him |
16:58 |
Dyrcona |
It should show up in both. |
16:59 |
Dyrcona |
It depends on a number of factors that would require me to do some digging. |
16:59 |
Dyrcona |
I have to go, now. |
