12:35 Dyrcona jeffdavis | anyone else for that matter: Do you object to my using jQuery in an attempt at fixing bug 1861013?
12:35 pinesol Launchpad bug 1861013 in Evergreen "OverDrive API Integration Does Not Work When Password Required" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1861013
12:41 jeffdavis Dyrcona: it's ok with me - jquery isn't currently required but I always assumed we would migrate to it once it was available in the OPAC, may as well start that ball rolling
12:42 Dyrcona jeffdavis: Yes, and I understand it currently there mostly for local customization. I would like to move Dojo to jQuery, unless the consensus is to do the OPAC in Angular.

12:58 rjackson_isl_hom everything going OK? I don't see any tickets in the inbasket? Sorry about having to take off today - I would much rather have been at work
13:07 rfrasur rjackson_isl_hom, also home with sinus infection. have an eye on the google sheet w/ EI libraries closing.

13:21 Dyrcona We're having fun here in Massachusetts, too.
13:22 Dyrcona Gives a new meaning to Bug Sqashing Week, eh?
13:22 alynn26 Lots of fun here in Indiana. Not even looked at squashing a bug today. Maybe tomorrow?
13:23 Dyrcona We will almost all be working remotely starting tomorrow.
13:24 rfrasur Gargh.  Bug squashing week.  And all I wanna do is literally crawl UNDER my bed and sleep.
13:25 * Dyrcona knows that feeling. Hope your sinusitis improves!
13:25 alynn26 i still won't, as an "essential" employee, I will most likely still come in to the office.
13:29 khuckins joined #evergreen
13:35 * rfrasur is most assuredly not "essential."
13:36 Dyrcona Well, only the essential employees came in today, and it was determined that we can pretty much all work from home. One or two will come by the office to pick up mail, pay bills, etc.
13:37 Dyrcona Actually, strike that "pretty much." We can all work from home.---The "joys" of technology. :)

14:20 jeffdavis sandbergja: did you get things sorted with your emergency closing emails?
14:23 _sandbergja jeffdavis: no, we never did.  We were able to send out an all-student email, which wound up being easier
14:23 jeffdavis ah, too bad, but glad you found a better solution
14:23 _sandbergja It would be really nice to be able to add a stock email template and trigger to EG, though
14:24 _sandbergja Maybe I'll open up a LP bug, and if somebody has a template they can contribute back, we could start there?
14:24 jeffdavis closures are starting here, once we get the kinks worked out I should be able to share a functional trigger
14:24 _sandbergja jeffdavis++
14:24 _sandbergja that would be fantastic
14:24 jeffdavis so far it's not actually generating events but I think the problem has been identified :)

14:39 Bmagic _sandbergja: yeah - we are wrestling with the issue of emailing ALL patrons.... doesn't seem like there is an easy way to do that with Evergreen
14:49 jvwoolf joined #evergreen
14:50 Dyrcona Well, I've written bespoke Perl programs to email all patrons of a given library or system before, never all patrons, but the principle is the same. Sometimes used a TT2 template, sometimes just a heredoc with variables.
14:51 Dyrcona One thing this whole closure thing shows is the benefit of having separate A/T events defined for each member library, but I guess it wouldn't be worth the hassle of 174 unique definitions * number of active events in the long run....
14:52 stephengwills joined #evergreen
14:52 rhamby it wouldn't be pretty but wouldn't be terribly hard to do a report of the email addressses and then loop through them to generate mails from the command line rather than in Evergreen itself
14:53 Dyrcona Yeah, no, I don't 9,048 action_trigger.event_definiton entries.
14:54 Dyrcona rhamby: Yeah, we have a report like that here.
14:55 Dyrcona /02:53:09/s/don't/don't need/ :)

15:16 jeffdavis Hm, I may have spoken too soon - EG attempts to create an email event, but then the transaction is rolled back instead of committed.
15:19 Dyrcona This is one of those things where I think action trigger is not the right answer.
15:20 mantis1 joined #evergreen
15:46 Dyrcona Too many database triggers, IMHO.
15:47 Dyrcona ^ Not action triggers. Database triggers are different.
15:51 pastebot "jeffdavis" at 168.25.130.30 pasted "event creation rollback" (46 lines) at http://paste.evergreen-ils.org/10135
15:52 jeffdavis Anyone seen this? EG logs show an event being created, but judging from the Postgres logs show a rollback afterward.
15:53 jeffdavis So in the end the event doesn't actually exist.
15:56 jeffdavis This is an autocreated event for the checkout.due.emergency_closing hook.
15:58 jeffdavis Looking at the create_active_events_for_object method (used by the open-ils.trigger.event.autocreate API), it should be committed after looping through all relevant enabled event defs with that hook. I wonder if it never commits because of some issue with $client->respond (Trigger.pm around line 114, at the end of the for loop).
15:59 Dyrcona Time out waiting on the database might do it.
16:00 Dyrcona Except that your rollback happens almost right away.
16:09 Dyrcona It looks like the commit happens before the event(s) are fully created.
16:10 Dyrcona At least in the cstore part of the logs.
16:11 Dyrcona Also, are the clocks on both servers synced via NTPD? I ask because the timestamps are fractions of a second off, allowing for timezone differences in the logs.
16:12 Dyrcona jeffdavis ^^
16:15 jeffdavis might be another event def causing problems with this one
16:15 jeffdavis the clocks ought to be synced but they do appear slightly off, I'll bug our sysadmin about that
