08:57 mmorgan jeffdavis: Regarding an open xact with checkin time and zero balance, there are library settings which will keep a zero balance lost or long overdue xact open, but that's the only case where it's appropriate.
08:58 mmorgan Have a look at bug 1781274
08:58 pinesol Launchpad bug 1781274 in Evergreen 3.4 "Web Client: Transactions Do Not Always Close When Bill Fully Paid" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1781274

09:38 Dyrcona So, testing here at CW MARS indicates that the aged billing/payments feature breaks our reports. We're looking into possible resolutions on our end, including possibly deleting the code from our local branch. Expect a Lp bug for discussion to pop up soonish.
09:39 Dyrcona I realize that it may be too late to modify the feature globally.
09:42 JBoyer breaks how? And given the timing, I assume it's somehow causing end of year report problems?
09:44 Dyrcona JBoyer: jamundson has the details, and I expect he'll summarize it on a Lp bug. We have some pretty sophisticated financial reports and we use a pretty aggressive timeline for aging circulations, 7 days, so I think it is more than end of year stuff.
09:44 Dyrcona We also do end of year in June/July because that's our fiscal year.
09:44 JBoyer Ah, I can see that combo causing problems, yeah.
09:50 berick just a reminder there are all_payments and all_billings views now to aggregate the data
09:52 Dyrcona berick: One of the emails from jamundson indicates that some columns that we need for our reports are missing from the views and aged tables.
09:52 * berick nods
09:53 Dyrcona Since some sites may have already upgraded to 3.4, I think it may be too late for those changes to go mainline. I'm not sure, so I recommended that he open a bug to start a discussion as soon as possible.
09:57 csharp our issue may be the same - we rely on money.materialized_billing_xact_summary for a lot of our reporting data and those rows are deleted as the billings/payments are aged
09:57 csharp I have it on my to-do to open a bug on some sort of replacement view for that data
09:59 csharp there may be other views affected that we haven't come across yet

10:50 Dyrcona JBoyer: bug 1858448

10:51 * Dyrcona babysits a "reprocess" of 2,541 auto-renewal notice events.
10:52 JBoyer Oh, I didn't realize the staff info was also removed. Now I see the problem. :/
11:06 Dyrcona Well, I think I hit the usr whose auto-renewal notices blows things up....
11:08 Dyrcona So, update_process in action_trigger.event corresponds to what process? It doesn't look like it's the action_trigger_runner.pl process id.
11:11 Dyrcona Must be the a/t drone's proc id. Not so useful, that.
11:15 Dyrcona This time, we're getting stuck on a user with just 30 items out.
11:16 csharp ah, I see why we're not seeing the same problems as CW MARS since we don't age circs for a year after they're resolved
11:37 Dyrcona Be back after a kernel update.

15:01 * dbs shakes fist at Hatch - prints labels great (without the extra width between rows we see with browser-based printing), but then fails to print receipts with a JS error (about 'printer' not being defined)
15:02 dbs I have added to my to-do list for label printing: figure out how to shrink row distance in browser-based printing; figure out how to automatically trim trailing linefeeds in call numbers
15:07 cmalm_ joined #evergreen
15:28 berick dbs: re: printer not defined, you have to 'Apply' printer settings to all print contexts in the printer settings interface.
15:29 mantis1 left #evergreen
15:29 dbs berick: oh, okay - I tried Apply for Default, Labels, and Receipts but didn't hit all of them. I'll give that a shot

17:20 Bmagic So when the Evergreen installation instructions say that for standalone PG servers, install the following additional Perl modules: (none) - does that mean that they are already installed from (Ubuntu)'s repo's?
17:20 Bmagic Isn't MARC::Record required?
17:22 berick Bmagic: yeah.  libmarc-record-perl is in the DEB_PGSQL_COMMON_MODS target
17:22 berick guessing that extra bit is for cpan-only stuff
17:22 Bmagic ok - so, stock Ubuntu doesn't cut it. You need to run all of the stuff in Makefile.ubuntu-xxxx
17:23 berick Bmagic: there's a Makefile.install target specifically for standalone DB servers
17:24 Bmagic gotcha, I was reading it wrong I guess.
17:24 berick postgres-server-ubuntu-xenial, postgres-server-ubuntu-xenial-10, etc.

20:21 dbs Trying to create a carousel for the first time. Gave myself the ADMIN_CAROUSEL and ADMIN_CAROUSEL_TYPE permissions, clicked New Carousel, filled out the fields for a Newly Cataloged carousel, and
20:22 dbs "open-ils.pcrud.create.cc failed! stat=404 msg=An unknown server error occurred" in the console
20:38 * dbs looks at the pcrud.create.cc call parms in the gateway log: {"__c":"cc","__p":[null,2,103,"JND 10 items",null,15429,15429,null,"now",null,null,null,null,"t",10]}
20:42 dbs a previous attempt had "{103}" in the "Item Libraries" slot but also failed
20:43 dbs looks like in that last one I failed to click "Add" after selecting the item library
20:44 dbs Ah, and same for shelving location.
20:45 dbs So, user error I guess? But the silent error (only visible in the console) is quite confusing
20:51 dbs Nope. The UI says "Update Succeeded", but the console shows a pcrud.create.cc error, and the parms look good: "__c":"cc","__p":[null,5,103,"DUDE",null,15429,15429,null,"
20:51 dbs now",null,"{103}","{142}",null,"t",25]}
20:51 dbs (And of course no carousel shows up in the Carousels Configuration window)
20:58 * dbs looks at bug 1851879
20:58 pinesol Launchpad bug 1851879 in Evergreen "Carousel Usability and Performance Issues" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1851879
21:07 * dbs adds a comment to the bug, as Terran's report included the clues that will hopefully resolve this issue
21:11 * dbs adds the perms to the database, grants them to himself and... pcrud.create.cc errors out again
