going to experiment with some reporting on "time on shelf / time out of library" with potential breakdowns between "on holdshelf", "in transit", "normal out", "overdue", "lost (bounded somehow)"... has anyone here done (or is anyone here aware of someone who has done) similar? |
11:10 |
jeff |
also musing a bit about ways to factor in "opportunities to circ" in some way, but not sure. knowing an item's last checkout was six months ago is slightly out of context if it was just returned last week. that could be something as simple as factoring in the checkin time or status change time (similar to how we factor in active date) when saying "show me items that haven't circulated in X" |
11:13 |
mmorgan |
jeff: We commonly use status changed time as a measure of how long an item has been sitting on the shelf. |
11:14 |
jeff |
mmorgan: do you look at things like time on shelf vs time "in use" by item or location or similar? |
11:16 |
mmorgan |
jeff: haven't done that type of reporting. Our context that uses the status changed time is mostly weeding lists. |
11:18 |
jeff |

So, we seem to get a lot of ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "copy_once_per_hold" from action.hold_request_regen_copy_maps in the pg logs on 3.2. Anyone else seeing this? |
12:33 |
Dyrcona |
In fact, I get so much of it that it makes looking for other errors from this utility server that runs the hold targeter practically futile. |
12:34 |
Dyrcona |
The copy array in the arguments for one of those function calls contains this sequence somewhere in it: ",19464100,19464100,19464100," So, yeah, something's not right. |
12:37 |
Dyrcona |
But, that's not the issue I'm looking into. Just something I stumbled upon while looking into action trigger issues from last Tuesday. |
12:38 |
mmorgan |
Dyrcona: I'm not seeing those messages in our 3.2.8 production logs. |

mmorgan: The actual error message in the pg logs is: ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "copy_once_per_hold" |
12:39 |
Dyrcona |
I know its from the action.hold_request_regen_copy_maps function based on the context. |
12:39 |
Dyrcona |
And, we're on 3.2.8. |
12:40 |
Dyrcona |
Probably one of those things that only affects us, then.... |

Dyrcona: interesting. are the affected holds of all a particular type of hold? |
12:58 |
Dyrcona |
jeff: I'm not looking into that. :) |
12:58 |
jeff |
fair enough! |
12:58 |

I'm looking into things like: trigger: event firing failed with Exception: OpenSRF::EX::JabberDisconnected 2019-11-19T04:02:27 OpenILS::Application::Trigger /usr/local/share/perl/5.22.1/OpenILS/Application/Trigger.pm:878 JabberDisconnected Exception: This JabberClient instance is no longer connected to the server |
12:58 |
Dyrcona |
I just saw the holds thing because it overwhelms the other log messages. |

ejabberd logs are useless. I think I need to change the log level in ejabberd to get anything useful. |
