09:25 csharp btw, re: bricks - we only do single-server bricks nowadays, but GenaSYS provides an option to break into heads/drones if necessary and we can document what's actually done there so others can do it manually

12:04 * dbs was asked why we don't have a format limiter for "Print books"
12:05 dbs I guess it would be a matter of cloning the existing ccaed book definition, and adding a "_not":{"_attr":"item_form","_val":"s"}
12:06 dbs oh wait, that's already there; huh
12:07 jihpringle joined #evergreen
12:07 dbs so maybe "All books" should actually be labelled "Physical books" or "Print books"?

12:08 mmorgan dbs: We (not me personally) set up Book (All), Book (Electronic), Book (Large Print), Book (Regular Print) as search formats

12:12 dbs mmorgan: grouping by "noun (adjective)" makes a lot of sense! And I guess your "All" definition is the new one

12:19 * mmorgan is not exactly sure where those live in the database, but Book(All) contains item_type(a,c,e,t)

14:59 HomerPublic Good morning from Alaska! I'm looking for some help. We recently updated our system to Evergreen 3.1. The copy alerts stopped working on the XUL client. Has anyone figured out a way to get the alerts working again? Thanks.
15:01 jeff HomerPublic: unless you took specific action to prevent it, the 3.1 upgrade process transitions all copy alert messages to a new underlying mechanism that the XUL client is mostly unaware of.

15:04 HomerPublic Is there any way to get that functionality back?
15:04 HomerPublic Thank you jeff

15:04 jeff HomerPublic: There is a thread on the open-ils-general mailing list with some discussion of potential options, but it's unclear if anyone in that thread has implemented a workaround in production: https://georgialibraries.markmail.org/thread/fa2xiszkbfzx3lhf
15:05 * dbs just modified, on his 3.1 system, an item to add a copy-specific item alert in the XUL staff client, tried checking it in, and got the "COPY_ALERT_MESSAGE" Force this action? override dialogue
15:06 berick yeah, old style will still work in XUL if you create new alerts
15:06 berick upgrade moves all of the existing alerts to new-style, though
15:06 jeff yeah, I guess I was unclear on that above.
15:06 dbs the mailing list thread makes that clear though - thanks for that link!
15:07 dbs most of our staff are still using XUL, although I'm going to push for webby once we upgrade to 3.4 over the winter break
15:07 dbs like... maybe the XUL link disappears... heh
15:39 HomerPublic Ok thanks for the background. We love the XUL client. Did not anticipate on upgrades breaking this function.
