rsulejmani: Yesterday you asked about running and Evergreen and Apache on the same server. Did you mean running Evergreen and some other applications via Apache on the same server? |
12:21 |
rsulejmani |
Dyrcona: Yes |
12:22 |
Dyrcona |
The answer is that it depends on what the other applications are doing. You may also need to modify the configuration of Apache quite a bit. I've never actually tried it beyond adding small applications to Evergreen itself. |
12:23 |
Dyrcona |
You know about virtual host configuration in Apache? |

Running 2 VMs on the laptop. Who would have dreamed of that a few years ago? |
15:21 |
JBoyer |
If you'd like to re-live those days you could try running one inside the other, heh. |
15:23 |
bshum |
JBoyer: I'm not entirely sure it would allow you to do that. I know some hypervisors dont' like it when the guests try to use the same procs that are already being used by the host |
15:23 |
bshum |
Or at least, it didn't let me when I tried it years ago... maybe the newer stuff is "better" now? |
15:24 |
JBoyer |
bshum, oh, you don't get to use the nice hardware bits on the inside. That's what brings back that authentic feeling to running a VM on a laptop. Frames per second becomes seconds per frame, etc. :) |
15:24 |

heh. |

Anyone have an idea why a circulation would accumulate fines passed the max_fine threshold? action.circulation shows max of 10.50 but the bills have climbed up to 16.50 and are still climbing. No payments have been made and no voids. |
17:18 |
Bmagic |
Maybe a renewal circ with fines on the parent? |
17:31 |
jihpringle |
Bmagic: might be worth checking the setting "Cap Max Fine at Item Price" just to rule it out |
17:32 |
Bmagic |
Would the action.circulation.max_fine be the end all be all? |
17:33 |
Bmagic |
That setting is set to false for this library |
17:35 |
Dyrcona |
Bmagic: It should cap at max fines. What's the fine amount? There was a bug where fines would go over max fines if the fine rate added up to more, like a max fines of $3.00 and a fine rate of $2.00/day, it would got to $4.00 at least. |
17:37 |
jihpringle |
I think that bug was resolved by the library setting "Truncate fines to max fine amount" |
17:39 |
berick |
Bmagic: multiple circs via renewal can certainly exceed max fines across the combined set |
17:39 |
Bmagic |
the circulation has a max_fine set to 10.05 and it's accumulated 16.50 so far |
17:40 |
Bmagic |
16.50 at .50 per day, and the xact ID is the same for all $16.50 worth |
17:40 |
* berick |
nods |
17:40 |
Bmagic |
the first circulation has $5.00 worth of fines with a different xact |
17:43 |
Bmagic |
we are chalking it up to a fluke... it is strange though |
17:44 |
berick |
Bmagic: all of the 16.50 are 0.50 entries? no manual billings? |
17:44 |
Bmagic |
right |
17:44 |
Bmagic |
btype=1 note="System Generated Overdue Fine" |
17:50 |
Dyrcona |
I know this is obvious, but the max fine rule actually shows up on the action.circulation row? |
17:51 |
Bmagic |
yep |
17:51 |
Bmagic |
that's what makes it so straightforward. The action.circulation plainly shows a max_fine of 10.05 |
17:51 |
Dyrcona |
10.05? not 10.50? |
17:53 |
Dyrcona |
What is stop_fines set to? |
17:54 |
Bmagic |
null |
17:55 |
Bmagic |
and yes, 10.05 |
17:57 |
Dyrcona |
Does the due date look correct, i.e. not monkeyed with? bug 1786312 |

17:59 |
Dyrcona |
Why 10.05 and not 10.00? What's the purpose of the extra five cents? |
18:00 |
Bmagic |
I think to allow it to go over 10 but not 11 |
18:00 |
Bmagic |
the due_date is "2019-01-11 23:59:59-06" |
18:00 |
Bmagic |
looks normal to me |
18:01 |
berick |

berick |
assuming the branch wasn't closed from 12/25 -> 01/11 |
18:03 |
Bmagic |
so, the theory is that the due_date was manually entered during renewal somehow? |
18:04 |
Dyrcona |
The bug indicates that fines have to start accruing and then the due date is altered. |
18:04 |
berick |
checked out, was overdue for a while, staff extended the due date (no renewal), more fines accrue after 2nd due date exceeded |
18:04 |
Dyrcona |
The dates on the billing entries would help you figure that out. |
18:05 |
Dyrcona |
If there's an obvious gap. |
18:05 |
Bmagic |
the dates are sequential but there is a weekend missing between 1-19 and 1-22 |
18:06 |
Dyrcona |
Are there fines for other weekends? |
18:06 |
Bmagic |
but that's the only weekend. Not sure what's special about that weekend |
18:06 |
Bmagic |
yeah, there are... perhaps that was the day it was extended by the staff manually... |
18:07 |

You might want to total the fines before and after those dates. |

Dyrcona |
Then, you can estimate where it should stop. |
