06:46 csharp more data from 18.04 OpenSRF math/dbmath not starting: https://pastebin.com/bm3iNJNY
06:49 Dyrcona This is a case where encryption is forced on us, but not necessary.
06:49 Dyrcona These communications typically do not leave a single machine, and at best travel over a mostly trusted LAN.
06:50 Dyrcona I love how everyone else always knows better than I do what's good for me. :)
06:51 Dyrcona I might as well clock in now and get the day started....
06:54 csharp :-)
06:54 Dyrcona I know what I described above is not the typical use case for XMPP and ejabberd, but just the same...
06:55 Dyrcona So, I think I'm going to blow up the vm I made yesterday and replace it with one running bionic.
07:07 rjackson_isl joined #evergreen
07:49 Dyrcona You know the bricks are not busy when most of the highest CPU processes in top are systemd and kworkers.
07:54 Dyrcona Always fun rebooting a server from 50 miles away....
07:54 Dyrcona Particularly when it doesn't come back up. :)
07:54 Dyrcona I'm pretty sure this is why this particular server is so far behind the other in updates.
07:56 Dyrcona Well, at least it is a host for development VMs and not one that I was otherwise planning to use today.
07:56 Dyrcona Question is: Do I open a ticket or just email the concerned parties.....
07:56 * Dyrcona stops thinking in channel.
07:57 Dyrcona csharp: You'll know where this is from: "I'm talking to myself, in a monologue..."
07:57 Dyrcona @monologue
07:57 pinesol Dyrcona: Your current monologue is at least 11 lines long.
07:59 Dyrcona Heh. Would be the server named "bashful." :)
08:00 Dyrcona 'Course the other is named "sleepy."

08:03 miker Dyrcona: re the % fix, for my part, I'm 100% (heh) for pushing the fix in now, and breaking ABI for OpenSRF 3.1
08:04 Dyrcona miker: OK, so should I push the current fix to OpenSRF master and you'll do the ABI breaking fix later, or should I just push the current fix to OpenSRF rel_3_0?
08:05 miker I think push to both
08:05 Dyrcona OK. Will do!

09:09 * Dyrcona tries the alternate installer image. It supposedly has all the sources.
09:09 JBoyer This group phone training where no one knows how to mute their phone is off to an amazing start...
09:14 Dyrcona :)
09:16 Dyrcona The "alternate" installer image uses the old, Debian-based installer and not the new one from the live image.
09:20 kmlussier JBoyer: I find the first 10 minutes of any phone conference thing is spent resolving technical and sounds issues. It's the nature of the beast, I guess.
09:21 Dyrcona Had to manually configure the drive to get any swap set up.
09:22 * Dyrcona doesn't like phones.
09:23 JBoyer I'm just so intent on muting everything until I want to say something that it baffles me when people just make a call and start talking to whoever walks by and we all get to hear how they're on a webinar. You don't say, so am I!
09:25 * mmorgan doesn't like phones either.
09:26 rjackson_isl reminds me of a video on the internet of current teens trying to place a call on a rotary phone ;)
09:27 Dyrcona heh. Someone should do a kickstarter for a smart phone with a rotary interface for hipsters. :)
09:28 rhamby_ Dyrcona: I think something like that has been done, at least a bluetooth rotary phone handset
09:28 rjackson_isl and aprty lines - need to bring those back...

09:29 Dyrcona Yeah, party lines....worse than conference calls.

09:45 bshum Dyrcona: Yeah the busted sources on 18.04.1 irked me greatly when I got my newest VMs setup.
09:46 Dyrcona bshum: They are enabled in the alternate installer: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/18.04/release/ubuntu-18.04.1-server-amd64.iso
09:46 bshum Dyrcona: Good to know, so it's just the live ISO that's unhappy then
09:46 * bshum downloads that version of the installer
09:47 Dyrcona I found that neither installer configured swap when I chose "Guided use entire disk."
09:47 Dyrcona Previous installers would configure swap.
09:50 bshum o.O
09:51 Dyrcona I manually configured the disk.
09:51 csharp https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes#Other_base_system_changes_since_16.04_LTS says that they use a swapfile rather than a partition
09:52 * csharp saw this referenced in the #ubuntu IRC support channel
09:52 Dyrcona csharp: I believe the 18.04 image did create a swap partition.
09:52 csharp hmm
09:53 csharp I have swap on mine
09:53 Dyrcona Well, I missed that note.

09:54 Dyrcona I'm going to start my bionic vm on my laptop to see what it looks like for swap.

12:00 Bmagic can anyone shed light on how the phone notify hold preference in the patron registration screen is checked by default? function extract_hold_notify() doesn't set any variables
12:03 jonadab Not sure if this is a hardcoded default or a consortium default, but someone told us that the default is to do phone iff there's a phone number and email iff there's an email address on the account.
12:04 jonadab SMS only if that option gets turned on explicitly.

12:54 jihpringle does anyone know where the "Ratings icon" text appears in the OPAC? https://translations.launchpad.net/evergreen/master/+pots/tpac/fr/844/+translate
12:54 jihpringle I'm guessing it's alternate text for an icon but we haven't been able to figure out where the icon appears
12:56 bshum jihpringle:
12:56 bshum Oops, heh
12:57 bshum jihpringle: There's a line of text on that translation page which says "Located in ../../Open-ILS/src/templates/opac/parts/result/table.tt2:483"
12:57 bshum So that tells you the file and the line it appears on (for master probably)
12:57 jihpringle we looked but couldn't find the term in table.tt2 or in any tmplate subdirectory
12:58 bshum Maybe it's a new translation in master, but not in the version you're looking at the file for?
12:58 * bshum sees it in his master repo
12:59 jihpringle that must be it, I'll get one of techs to poke at master
12:59 jihpringle thanks bshum
12:59 bshum Hmm
12:59 bshum It's in rel_3_0 and rel_3_1
12:59 bshum so it doesn't seem new
12:59 bshum Maybe it was edited out of your localized template?
12:59 bdljohn joined #evergreen
12:59 jihpringle hmm, we're running 3.1 so it must have been edited out
13:02 bshum Must be, it's been in the file for a long, long time
13:03 miker berick: interesting! yeah, the max_chunk_* is about chopping up large results, whereas max_bundle_* is about collecting.  I suspect that instance was one of the original, pre-renaming uses, and was just wrong in the modern world.  I have a vague theory that it might be related to out-of-order reconstruction of chunked bundles, but no evidence
13:03 miker berick: tl;dr: max_bundle_count is better there, and thanks!
13:04 * miker disappears again
13:05 miker (whisper from the aether ... "we should probably make chunking and bundling mutually exclusive, and send pending bundles before chunking a large result"....)
13:06 bshum jihpringle: But to answer your actual question, the icon appears to be the alt text for something for ContentCafe.

14:18 Dyrcona So, merging user with itself is a thing you can do, somehow. I don't know how outside of the database.
14:19 Dyrcona But, I have a log entry to prove it's possible from the client, 'cause there's a cstore call to actor.usr_merge with the same id for src and dest usr.
14:19 Dyrcona The result isn't good.
14:28 dbwells Dyrcona: but can we contain it?
14:28 Dyrcona dbwells: Sure, the fix is relatively simple (at least in the database), I'm going to do a test before opening a Lp bug.
14:29 Dyrcona The fix is to add a check at the top of actor.usr_merge to bail if the user ids are the same.
14:29 dbwells Dyrcona: sorry, just a poor attempt at humor.  Next time, more exclamations points, maybe.
14:29 Dyrcona Ah ha!
